America continues to teeter on the brink of collapse after terrorists detonate black-market nukes from container ships.
With deadly clouds of radiation swooping in from the wasteland of American port cities, Paul Edwards and his father-in-law Buck seek shelter in a spectacular government bunker, the likes of which has never been seen.
They've succeeded in finding safety from the dangers outside, but in a world without rules, trust can be a deadly thing.
Annual reading goal achieved!! Yippee! Anyway, the second half of the Long Road to Survival story finds Paul and his family in a secret underground government bunker. Things are amazing inside this bunker...until they're not. Things get progressively stranger until all the dirty, dark secrets of the government plot are revealed. I wrapped this book up in about two days, so I think it's fair to say that it keeps you wondering where the story will take you. A fun read, and another reason I search out William H. Weber, now, Lee Bradford.
This is the second book in The Prepper Series. I loved the first book, however, this installment was not quite as good.
The story picks up well and progresses nicely as the family reunites and enters a government bunker. This is where things get a little strange dragging the story off in a somewhat unbelievable direction.
I'll continue to follow this series if more books come, but it won't be at the top of my list.
Paul Edwards and his family have found relative safety in a government bunker that seems too good to be true. They soon find out that there are many secrets and none of them are survivable. Again, Paul's father in law, Buck teams up with them this time to find a way out.
Bradford’s and Weber’s second novel in The Long Road to Survival: The Prepper Series Book two seas America’s society continually dissolving. Danger comes in many forms. And, it appears the most dangerous threat to their safety is man-made.
It is interesting that this is only a two-book series. While the ending was quite sad it was also very satisfying.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where a major character was killed in one sentence and the funeral was summed up in another sentence. That’s how rushed the ending is.
Also, the conspiracy-gun-nut-conservative ethos was a little overbearing at times. My eyes nearly rolled out of my head when, along with plot specific conspiracies, the 9-11 and Illuminati conspiracies were also confirmed. This novel is like a conspiracy theorist’s gun-right lover’s wet dream.

Predictable and the characters were forced. Called the prepper series but there was very little to do with being a prepper. I had high hopes because I truly enjoyed one of his other series, probably won't be looking into more of his work.
What a pleasant surprise! This two book series was definitely not what I was expecting in a SHTF/Prepper series. No spoilers. The interactions between Paul and Buck were hysterical. They were definitely made for each other. The narrator was wonderful. I was left wanting more!!!
Paul & Buck managed to rescue Susan & Autumn with only minor damage to Buck. Arriving soldiers offered to have the group accompany them to an underground government bunker in order to escape the nuclear fallout rapidly approaching. The underground bunker called Ark in Sugarloaf Mountain is a marvel of technology. It reminds them more of a tour through Disney’s Epcot Center. The group is quite impressed with their surroundings and thankful that they were allowed into the secret government base. There was more to this bunker than meets the eye. Suspicion and rumor abound. Paul & Buck were on a dangerous course to find out what the bunker had to hide. Excitement and action a definite increase from book one. A solid four.
No useable details for "peppers". Found story line to be leaning g more towards decline of society. Surviving skills left more to government buildings and goods and services provided by government. I personally would have preferred more information on preparation and day to day survival practices required.
This was more like a shootout between the good guys and the bad guys than a guide for someone truly interested in what to begin storing and how to go about preserving supplies.
I really like survival stories and this was another spellbinding story about a family fighting for their lives. Many surprises in this book. A must read for a survival book.
