Enquête sur l'existence des Anges Gardiens: La Version Originale 400 pages

Rate this book

OK, so I didn’t really finish the book but I do hope to get back to it someday. This was not a DNF because I disliked the book but a DNF because I’m slow and plodding when it comes to non-fiction. I can read a good fiction in three days but a non-fiction of the exact same length takes me months.

What I found to be the greatest strength of this book was the tremendous research and reference to other books on the topic. The bibliography was vast. I appreciated this thoroughness in conferring with books on the topic and religious scholars.

Based on the title, I expected a more logical presentation of “evidence” and I hoped the author respected his readers enough to allow her or him to draw one’s own conclusions. Instead, I perceived the author to be in the camp of thoroughly convinced and assuming the reader will follow his lead because he said so...”They [Angels] exist; that is absolutely for certain.”...”The guardian Angel is assuredly there.” (Page 93)

The early chapters seem to be much more focused on near death experiences regardless of the presence of Angels in the NDE. I happen to find near-death experiences as interesting as Angels so I didn’t mind this but I thought it was a bit misleading nevertheless.

The author also made comments that I inferred had gender bias. He assumes all to find female Angels a greater attraction than male Angels. These comments made me uncomfortable. Such as: “I’m more interested in Angels of the so called weaker sex.” And, “An Angel, and I suppose, a female Angel even more, holds a powerful attraction for the subject,...” No. They don’t.

This book mentioned “Talking with Angels,” (Fourth Edition) by Gitta Mallasz. I found the story of Gitta and her friends experiences in Hungary to be utterly fascinating and bought this book after hearing about it in this Angels book. This book was worth it for leading me to read more about these Angelic visits.

Absolutely loved this book. Very interesting and it referenced so many interesting people that I was hooked from beginning to end. There were some funny translation errors in the book I read but other than that I loved every piece of it. I learned a lot about Saints as well as NDE too. This is a must read if you want to learn something about guardian angels and some history surrounding that too. One of my favorites!

Excellent book about an amazing topic. I was not very fan of "guardian angels" before its reading... but that was before.
A must-read book...

Pierre Jovanovic's books and I are a great love story!

This great investigation begins with a story: the author, on his way to Silicon Valley for a report, is driving quietly with a friend. Suddenly, an intuition tells him to bend down, which he does instinctively, thus avoiding a stray bullet that could have been fatal... Then begins an investigation that will lead the author to confront new beliefs...

Let's get into the mood right away. Despite the fact that he deals with a spiritual subject, Jovanovic does not veer into what is known as « spiritualité putassière ».
Here we are dealing with a hardcore journalist who has done his homework and is therefore able to argue his point with numerous examples and testimonials.

No rambling or random theories, he has gone to meet people who have had similar experiences to his own. As the pages progress, one discovers with interest that the divine and its emissaries take many forms when they perform miracles. Initially in search of angels, the author takes us to the frontiers of a world that has yet to reveal all its secrets.

Between divine apparitions, near-death experiences, revelations, supernatural rescues, Pierre Jovanovic's pen encourages us to question the control we really have over our lives, because in the end, no matter what we do, the beings of light are constantly watching us and pulling our strings.

This is just the kind of book I love, mixing investigation, real facts and history. Jovanovic's writing is quite rock'n'roll and humorous in order to make a subject that can be daunting for many readers more accessible.
An absolute favourite!

It is the second time I read this book and I still found it amazing, all 500 plus pages of it.
The first time I read it was almost twenty years ago and recently I reminded myself of it and decided to re-read it. I was always very interested and motivated to understand and feel closer to the Angels. This is an investigation, carried out by a journalist who at first was not exactly a "mystic", until one day, he had the most uncommon experience that saved his life... He then started investigating about the existence of Angels and (synchronistically) all sorts of hints about Angels came his way: books that "fell" from library rows into his hands, meetings with other journalists with uncommon experiences, etc.. (For the real deal try to read the book, I do not like to leave spoilers, LOL).
He then starts reading a lot of biographic material from the lives of saints and mystics, as well as about NDEs. He finds out a lot through these distinct testimonies about Angelic figures, common to both NDEs and mystic states.

Definitely a good read!

This is a book that ought to create tremendous enrichment to your understanding of the world. It marked me and changed the way I see things. This is an eye-opener. If you need a well referenced book revolving around the unknown written by a scientifically credit-worthy source; you have come to the right place. This will lift you up from sadness and give you a boost of confidence in your fate. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone at any time.

It is not the first time I read this wonderful book, which - the first time I read it - had an even bigger impact on me. The author is a journalist who somehow gets into "investigating" the possibility that Guardian Angels not only exist, but have a major role in our lives. Very well researched and with compelling true examples. I loved it.

Loved it. If you want to be reminded that there is way more to life than the daily slog. This book is great. It reminds us that energy is far reaching and yes each of us has spirit guides that keep us on our path. How awesome is that?!

This was an interesting book because it was a journalist's investigation into the paranormal concept of guardian angels. This book was referenced in Gloria Kapinski's book "Where two worlds touch" and I bought a second hand copy via Amazon. I have to admit to liking the idea and wanting affirmation but the book went off into topics which were too aligned with Catholicism for me. However... I also have to confess that I have since experienced the type of everyday signs that Jovanovic discusses after asking for signs from my guardian angel! Strange!

The beginning of the book is concerned with near death experiences (NDEs) and this is quite extensive and fascinating. From peoples' accounts of their experiences it would appear that the guardian angel is often part of the experience. A positive, radiant light that is there to help us in the transition or instruct us to return to life. This light is with us throughout our lives. The book then moves on to various accounts of saints, mystics, stigmatics and incorruptibles (people whose dead body does not decompose). Jesus and Mary get a lot of mentions in these accounts so if you're not Christian it sort of misses the spot.

It's a shame that the book is not more convincing. Jovanovich does a scholarly job and is extremely transparent with his bibliography and references but some of the historic accounts quoted are too rooted in a religious context. I realise that we are touching on issues of faith here and therefore there will be no definitive proof at this stage in our evolution but I am always sceptical when considering any organised religion or dogma.

So, I'm not convinced in the 'academic' sense but I am intrigued by the concept - more so now than before I started reading his book. The recognition of 'coincidences' if you care to keep an open mind are the most fascinating of his suggestions. These coincidences reveal your guardian angel in a more experiential way. In the past few days, I have watched a film that I recorded over Xmas and noticed that the backdrop was angel wings which appeared constantly; walking yesterday I looked above a building and in each of the windows were white feathered wings; and at the traffic lights on the way home I found myself in ... Angel Way!!!!

"The guardian Angel's task is above all to guide us, to help us benefit from our existence on earth and not fear living"

"If you have read this book without preconceived notions, you will perhaps think more often of him who is close to you, of your guardian Angel, and if you decide to speak regularly with him, which is the condition sine qua non, the essential will be achieved, and he will then begin replying to you by signs, winks of the eye and fantastic synchronicities. Then you will discover that you have a friend "in very high places".

Interestingly, this second hand book had the receipt of the person who bought it on the 5/10/11 from Title Wave Books, W. Northern Lights, Anchorage, Alaska. Jack Runser! If you ever read this review Jack you must let me know!
