Bad boy Jed Hamilton is ex-special Forces and a current undercover recovery agent who's mentally and physically tough, a lone wolf and, above all, violently allergic to commitment, permanence, and anything wedding related.
So when he learns, in the very sexy McKenna Dixon’s bridal salon, that his younger sister is getting married and wants him to be her “man of honor”, Jed wishes he was anywhere but in Cape Town. Especially now that he'll be spending more time around the one woman who makes him consider perilous phrases like “what if” and “maybe”…
McKenna Dixon loves bad boys, but her past experience with the species has led to nothing but pain and heartbreak. Jed Hamilton is exactly the type of man she should avoid, but when a nasty incident threatens her and her daughter, Jed immediately appoints himself as their protector, even though it’s not a part of his job description.
McKenna is determined not to allow another bad boy to flip her life inside out, and Jed is determined to retain his bachelor status and to keep travelling and working. But, as they both discover, love does its best work when busy making other plans…
Joss Wood loves books and travelling— especially to the wild places of Southern Africa and, well, anywhere.
She’s a wife, a mom to two teenagers, and is bossed around by two cats and a Great Dane X the size of a baby cow. After a career in local economic development, she now writes full time.
That ending. Really? Everything was four star worthy until then. That came out of no where.
Jed was seriously hot, and McKenna sure did like her some bad boys. I was expecting the sex to be off the charts hot and messy, but it was tastefully hot and almost none existent. Does that make sense? I figured out the bad guy way too early. Her little girl, Daisy, was so adorable.
3 - "Honey, your mouth shouldn't write checks your ass can't cash." Stars!
I have had mixed success with the books that I have read from the International Bad Boys series, and Claimed by the Warrior was firmly in the success column for about 75% of its reading. Then we hit the final stretch and it all seemed to lose its way a bit.
This isn't a long book, but the author has tried to cram a lot of separate tropes into it, familial issues on both Jed and McKenna's parts, a stalker (which should have been the focus, in my humble opinion) and the general building of their relationship around his commitment issues and her reluctance to get involved with another Bad Boy. It all got a bit sketchy after a while and some of it didn't really seem to add to the plot overall. Its not often I work out who the villain of a piece is before the big reveal, but I had them pegged almost straight off in this one as well.
"I'm a soldier and we're nothing if not adaptable."
The sexy-times were more of a fizzle than a burn and the ending... well it was kind of an unnecessary cliff-hanger, and I hope that it means at some point in the future, the character left hanging will get their story told.
It wasn't all bad, as I said the first 75% was pretty enjoyable, Joss Wood is an author new to me, and I would certainly happily give more work by her a go in the future. I think this one could have done with a little paring of the unnecessary and more development on the main plot points.

And the International Bad Boys series continues ... I have loved every one of the books in this series by various authors. I didn't exactly dislike Claimed by the Warrior, it just didn't do anything for me ...
This story itself felt like a hot mess from beginning to end. WAY too much going on for a book of this length. It was just all over the place. And then it ends in a cliffy ... um, what?
By the title, you think there's gonna be some claiming, but yeah, not so much....
As for the suspense ... well, if you make it easy for me then what's the point of turning the page?
So there ya have it ... hot mess (lol)

Jed Hamilton is not pleased when his sister asks him to meet up with her in what turns out to be a bridal salon in order to reveal that she wants him to be her "Man of Honor." However, he is very attracted to the owner of the salon, McKenna Dixon. When he finds out that McKenna has a stalker, he insists on staying with she and her small daughter in order to provide protection. The two are unable to resist the pull between them and they embark on an evening of passion that they don't intend to repeat. As Jed and McKenna get to know one another better, they develop feelings for each other. They have to decide if they can move on from the past while McKenna is being targeted by someone who has it in for her.
I thoroughly enjoyed Claimed by the Warrior. I thought that the main characters, Jed Hamilton and McKenna Dixon, were both great. They each had some things to overcome from their pasts, but were very likable. I enjoyed the chemistry between them and seeing their relationship develop. McKenna's daughter, Daisy, was adorable, and I loved seeing her get to know Jed. I liked how protective Jed was toward both McKenna and Daisy. The storyline was interesting and had a good balance of suspense and romance. I enjoyed the South African setting, which was a departure from the locations the books I read normally take place. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.
I really wanted to love Claimed by the Warrior. It started off very strong and humorous but quickly fell short in the middle. While I didn't have any problems per say with McKenna or Jed's character, there were some parts thought out that I just didn't think were realistic with how they acted in certain scenes. McKenna's daughter, Daisy, was probably my favourite character through out this book, she was so adorable and her funny moments really kept the story alive. I really enjoyed the last couple of chapters, I didn't see the ending coming which made me enjoy the book so much more! However, that ending?! Nope. Not happy. I'm really hoping Joss Wood is planning a book on Jed's sister, Leah!
Claimed by the Warrior follows an undercover recovery agent who finds himself drawn to protect his sister's wedding dress maker.
Jed Hamilton's work with Pytheon Security keeps him busy to the point he hasn't been home in over a year. But after he hits a dead end on a case, he's put on leave and sent home to decompress. Upon arrival, he learns his sister is getting married and wants him to be her man of honor. When Jed meets wedding dress designer McKenna Dixon, his leave just took a pleasant turn. After McKenna is threatened by a stalker, Jed is determined to protect her.
This book did not work for me at all in large part because I disliked both of the main characters. Jed completely disregards McKenna declining his advances and thinks that because he's hot that he can get what he wants. He talks to her in a demeaning way and calls her by physical characteristics rather than her name. Don't get me wrong, I can and do enjoy alpha heroes but Jed is the bad type of alpha who just acts like a jerk. McKenna wasn't much better as she made a lot of stupid decisions. She seems to think that because she fell for two less than stellar guys in her late teens/early twenties that obviously there's something wrong with her and she can never have a relationship with a good guy. I felt there was no chemistry between Jed and McKenna and the steamy scenes weren't great and a lot of them skimmed the good parts. I also didn't like the way the book ended with McKenna basically guilting Jed into being with her. The book then ends on a cliffhanger regarding Jed's sister and I just don't care at all about what happened to her.
Overall Claimed by the Warrior was not great and I don't think that I will continue on with the series.
Jed Hamilton is ex-special Forces and a current undercover recovery agent. Returning home after almost a year, he realizes that he has missed too much; his sister's pending marriage for instance. A strong disbeliever in marriage, his distaste is evident to his sister as well as McKenna Dixon, the second as he walks into her bridal salon. The attraction between them though, is instant and sparks fly right away.
But McKenna has a history of choosing the wrong guy and living with those mistakes has made her cautious. Even worse is that the one guy she thought was decent enough to go on a couple of dates with is now threatening her through emails and phone calls. And when he attacks her home and destroys her bridal salon, Jed moves in to provide her and her toddler daughter with protection.
But in spite of the imminent danger to their lives, love creeps up on them and stirs up feelings within Jed that he never thought would be a possibility for him.

Jed is technically a photographer. He is very good at it, loves it and is gaining recognition for his photos. The not technically job? He does "recovery" missions for an organization all over the world and the photography is a great cover.
He doesn't do relationships or family hardly. He and his father can barely stand the sight of one another, his mom deceased. The only family he really cares about is his younger sister Leah. Leah has demanded he meet her and as usual she is late. So here he sits....at a bridal salon of all places and he isn't very happy about it.
McKenna owns the salon, She creates the design and her cousin Mattie sews the dresses. She is a single mom to Daisy, a 3 year old. She has terrible luck with relationships so has decided to dedicate her life to raising her daughter. It isn't what she really wants though. She has dated a bit but hasn't found anyone.
When Jed shows up at her Salon the sparks are flying between them. Both are very attracted to one another. Then Jed opens his mouth and she realizes he is just another bad boy, like the other ones in her life.
Leah finally arrives and he is thoroughly annoyed when he finds out she is getting married. He is very protective of her so he thinks she is too young and the guy isn't good enough for her. She even wants him to help her pick out a wedding dress and be her Man of Honor! He is having a very hard time with this!
NcKenna has a stalker. She has been getting texts and phone calls for months. She thinks it may be a guy she dated briefly but the police say they can't do anything without proof so she saves the answering machine tapes and texts and puts them in a file.
Jed is there a couple of times when the phone has rang or she has gotten messages and they talk about it some. He has decided to protect her and Daisy and of course he needs to stay there with them. They agree to sex-only but that sex only changes both of their lives as does the stalker.
What will happen to sex-only and the no relationship rule? Who is the stalker?
Jed of course is a hottie, with plenty of attitude. McKenna gives it right back to him though without the arrogance he has. Little Daisy is just adorable, who doesn't love a 3 year old!
Daisy's real father died in an accident and I loved that Daisy had a relationship with her dad's parents. They loved her like there is no tomorrow. McKenna's parents were deceased. I had a laugh out loud moment when Jed cursed and she repeated it! That has happened to all parents, you have to hold in the giggle while you remind them that they weren't nice words.
I also loved the relationship Jed had with Daisy. He slipped right into Daddy mode, like automatically wiping her hands and face after she ate, all while denying any feelings for McKenna.
This really was a good book and I think most would really enjoy it!
3.5 stars. This is the first of the International Bad Boys series that I’ve read (the others haven’t really intrigued me enough), but I was in the mood for an easy read with a bad boy, a cute kid and a woman strong enough to challenge him. And that’s exactly what I got, with the added bonus of being in Cape Town, which isn’t a common location for romance novels – at least not in my experience.
McKenna was interesting. A woman who grew up pretty wild and has always had a thing for bad boys – until she fell pregnant and decided to settle down to raise her baby girl in a secure environment. I liked her, for her work ethic and her decision to put her daughter first, even if it did feel like she'd been guilted into some of them. I have to admit there is rather a lot of money in this book – pretty much everyone involved seems to have stacks of money. McKenna has a trust fund and her previous bad boys weren’t short on cash either. Not that she sits around doing nothing all day – instead she runs a bridal salon in between raising her daughter.
Which is how she meets Jed, of course. A man who has no trust in love or relationships and spends his working days travelling around the world, taking photos in hotspots while “recovering” people and artifacts from places where they don’t belong. He’s gruff and tough and sexy, and unwilling to deny the chemistry that zings between him and McKenna, even if she’s less keen to follow her hormones.
Partly because of her adorable daughter – who I loved – and mostly because of the crazy stalker. I have to admit the mystery of the stalker wasn’t as deep as I’d have liked, and at times it seemed to be little more than a convenient excuse for Jed to get closer to McKenna. I did love how she learnt how to read him so easily, though, much to his own frustration. It made their relationship more equal and enjoyable.
Overall this is a fairly quick read that doesn’t demand too much except to be enjoyed. The characters are interesting, there’s a nice amount of chemistry and Daisy is adorable. I’m still a bit undecided as to whether that epilogue was fun or annoying, but it certainly left me intrigued. I do hope there will be more from Leah and perhaps Pytheon at some point.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the novels in the International Bad Boys series and this is no exception! The novels are written by a variety of authors, tend to have totally different characters, settings and events and are each standalone stories in their own right. I hadn’t read anything by this author before but I will certainly look out for more by her in future!
The bad boy in this instance is Jed Hamilton, ex-SAS and now a photographer of growing renown who also uses this to cover his secret role as an undercover recovery agent. He turns up at the Bridal salon of McKenna Dixon to meet his sister for the first time in more than a year and can’t think of a worse meeting point as he abhors anything wedding related! Mind you that’s about to change as he is instantly attracted to single Mom and shop owner, McKenna - and she feels the same though is extremely wary of any possible relationship between the two of them. Her daughter, Daisy May, is a poppet and heart stealer. Add in a mysterious stalker who is threatening McKenna and his protective instincts kicking in - you’re in for a mystery, suspense and thriller along with some hot romance!
This is a great story with lead characters having to overcome their past to start looking forward. They were very likeable and easy to relate to - and the chemistry between them was explosive, Having said that, I really appreciated the author’s technique in describing the sex scenes - with plenty of implications but little unwarranted and unappreciated detail (I wish more authors would use this technique and leave the details to the reader’s imagination!). The stalker and threats are handled brilliantly, adding suspense and drama to the story. Exploring Jed’s relationship with members of his family and its impact on how he relates to others now is empathetically described, explaining so many of his actions and reactions. A great story highly recommended to anyone who enjoys their romance to be well written and have a military/spy hero helping overcome threats to the heroine’s safety.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
I've enjoyed reading Claimed By The Warrior. Joss Woods is a new to me author with an easy to read style that flows well. I did have a bit of a problem with her sentence structures, however. They tend, at times to be a bit too complex, meaning I'd have to read a sentence through a couple of times to work out the intended meaning. I'd have preferred shorter sentences conveying just one idea in each. That aside, I did like this book for a number of reasons. Firstly on a purely personal note, the fact that it is set in Cape Town appealed to me because I lived there in my late teens. Mind you the setting really didn't play a huge role in the story. Secondly, I liked both McKenna and Jed. Both are believable characters with the right balance of sexy and sensible. I liked that even though his job had Jed living very much on the edge, he still had a deep seated sense of duty and concern for those he loved. Thirdly I really liked the way Joss Woods handled the sex scenes. me by "He made her scream. More than once." Nice! All encompassing, conveys the message neatly without all the often boring clinical details and frankly I think a lot of authors could learn from Joss Woods in that respect. This book is part of Tule Publishing's International Bad Boys series, and if you enjoyed other books in the series I think you'll enjoy this one too. The books are not interconnected so don't worry if you haven't read any of the others as Claimed By The Warrior stands up just fine by itself.
When Jed is summoned back home by his little sister, Leah, he has no clue that his life is about to change dramatically whether he wants it to or not. As he finds himself standing in bridal salon he realizes all the horrors that he is trying to avoid. However, when he meets the owner, a new set of emotions start distracting him. McKenna Dixon is the perfect woman, and he is determined to have her.
When McKenna notices the handsome stranger standing in her hallway she can't help the attraction that immediately inflames her. But after a life time of hurt at the hands of "bad boys" she is smarter than to get involved with another one, right?
When danger strikes Jed immediately steps in to protect her and her daughter. And as the hours spent together start piling up, the attraction keeps building. As he wins over not only McKenna's heart, but that of her daughter, Daisy, she finds herself doing the one thing she told herself she shouldn't do...she falls in love with the bad boy.
As Jed helps bring the danger to an end he finds that he cannot give McKenna all she and Daisy need and takes off on a new assignment. After he has left, he realizes the only place he wants to be is back with his girls. He just hopes it is not too late.
Great read. This is the first novel I have read by Joss Wood, but will definitely not be my last.
This book was a nice surprise. Never thought I would like it so much giving the slow start, but, surprisingly, it was really good.
Jed was an authentic Alpha male and so protective that I still smile when I think of it.
I loved McKenna but she had really bad taste in men... Until she set her eyes on bad boy Jed Hamilton. She doesn't want another man ruining her life, but when you can't fight the attraction, there's not much you can do, right?
Enter the crazy stalker... It was not hard to find out who was the creep and I had my suspicions from a very early stage in the book. Unfortunately, they turned out right. I hate when I find who the stalker is early in the book.
One thing I really did love was McKenna's daughter, Daisy. She doesn't appear much, but when she does, she steals the show. Totally.
The ending... Well... Disappointing is a good word for it. The book itself was a very fast read, but the ending was so fast that I went back and forth trying to see if I missed something.
All in all, is was a very good, fast paced book that stars an amazing Alpha man, a sweet heroine, a crazy stalker and 'short stuff' Daisy and a not so great ending.

Claimed by the Warrior by Joss Wood is scrumptious, fun, sexy as can be, and just a real good read. I found myself giggling in some places and sighing with pleasure in other. The characters are so dang interesting and the storyline is written to perfection. The cover alone draws the eye of the reader, especially when its a female reader.
The moment Dixon meets sexy bad boy, Jed, her girlie bits wake up and take notice, and as she tries to control herself, the sparks fly even more and soon the passion is too much for these two to fight. The fact that author Wood puts a bit of humor in the story just makes it that much more enjoyable to me. When I can find myself laughing throughout the story, it definitely makes my day.
Claimed by the Warrior gets a SOLID FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its a good time filled with steamy sex, witty comebacks, and sassy and loving characters. You definitely want to check this book out!

Jed Hamilton is summoned home by his little sister. Unbeknownst to him, their meeting place is a bridal salon, a place that would have avoided like the plague, until he gets a good look at it's owner, McKenna Dixon. From the instant he saw McKenna he wants her, but McKenna has been burned twice before by bad boys and she has her adorable daughter to care for now. McKenna doesn't have time for the inevitable pain and heartbreak that follows.
However, when McKenna's stalker seems to escalate, Jeb is determined to protect McKenna and Daisy from the danger. And what was supposed to be only a one-time thing has been leaving Jeb thinking of a future of "what-ifs" and "maybes". But can he put aside his past and dangerous job to allow himself to be open to love?
Loved Jed and McKenna. Always love finding the soft heart in the bad boy. McKenna has always been attracted to bad boys, but she knows it will just leave her heart broken again. Jed, undercover recovery agent, has returned home to be man of honor for his sister's upcoming wedding. He meets owner of Bridal salon, McKenna when she needs protection from an unknown assailant. He moves in with McKenna and her young daughter, but the one thing Jed does not do is relationships. When McKenna is safe from harms way, can Jed just leave or will his heart win him over.
This is a page turner of plenty of romance and the element of suspense that will keep the reader going until the end. Loving the Bad Boys! I received this book from netgalley for an honest review.
Well, this was nothing intensely special I'd give it 3 1/2 stars, but it had a solid story line. Jed and McKenna were great together and I liked that she could see through his bull when he lied and that he was strong enough to be everything she needed. I was able to figure the stalker out pretty soon, but I would like to think it’s because of my awesome sleuthing skills, lol. I am extremely curious about Leah, Jed’s sister and that ending left us open to LOADS of possibilities. I also found myself more than a little intrigued by Seth, so I’d like to see more of the Pytheon group. This story has action, drama and intrigue and some wonderful loving touching moments. This was a complimentary e-copy provided by the author/publisher in exchange for a honest review via Netgalley.
Loved this one! Jed and McKenna were awesome and their story definitely left me smiling!!
You'd think she'd learn her lesson! McKenna has always been drawn to bad boys but they only meant one thing. Heartache. So why oh why is she so attracted to her clients brother. Just looking at him let's you know he's the baddest bad boy of all.
Jeb doesn't do relationships. So staying away from McKenna should be on the top of his priority list. She has relationship type written all over her. But when McKenna and her young daughter are in danger, he's determined to protect her, no matter the cost. He doesn't plan on it costing him his heart though....
"...a bad boy alpha male, the biggest, baddest dog in the junk yard."
Great and easy read by Joss Wood! This book definitely had me smiling and chuckling. It was a short read, but it did have a lot of action going on. With McKenna battling a stalker, trying to steer clear of bad boys while falling in love with Jed, an ultimate alpha male, sure kept me hooked. However, I did figure out who the stalker was about midway through, but the way McKenna figured it out was a good climatic scene. The relationship between Jed and McKenna was very hot and steamy! The end of the book left a big cliffhanger. Hopefully the start of another book?
Jed is quite blunt, “no, I’d be happier if you were naked and panting my name.” Jed doesn't mind stating what he needs, “in my bed, sexually. Why, what did you think I meant?" He appreciates his woman's outfit choices, “if someone had to walk out right now you’d give them a hell of a show.”Jed said, scraping his knuckles on the underside of her right butt cheek. “You absolutely can’t bend over in that dress.”he added as he stepped up to the balustrade to stand beside her. “But I have to say that that I’m a sucker for barely there thongs.” I loved Jed he was protective and caring.
Jed is home for his sister’s wedding and if there is anything Jed hates worse it’s the idea of marriage and commitment. That is until he sees the owner of the bridal salon and decides that he wants to spend time with her but with no attachments. McKenna takes one look at Jed and knows he is just another bad boy that she needs to avoid. This was a great cat and mouse story with both of them denying their true feelings and finally giving into their feelings. This was a fun story with two genuine characters that I enjoyed reading.
This story held my attention, had great characters and is left open for another book or two! McKenna has bad luck with bad boys, and the only good thing that has came from those experiences is her daughter Daisy. While working and living with her cousin, McKenna's life is going good, until the day she meets Jed and sparks start to fly between them.

Wow. Ms. Wood has given her readers a novella where your heart will be in your throat, the hero is hotter than the devil and the story line is enough to have you hopping. This is another in the International Bad Boys series but can be read as a standalone. Be prepared to have your heart race as you read this bad boy though because with Ms. Wood’s style you will be feeling all of the ups and downs that create this fascinating read.
I received a copy of this book through Tule Publishing for an honest review. This book was soooo good and entertaining! Told from dual points of view, it was fast-paced, the characters were well-developed, great tension (the plot as well as between the characters), and just a touch of humor to round it out. There's a HEA, but a tiny cliffhanger or what in the world?? about another character to set up for another book.
I really enjoyed this book, Jed and McKenna's story! It had intrigue and love and a man who really wanted to fall in love but was just afraid. Thank goodness Jed realized what was important before it was too late. If you are looking for a great, quick read, you must add this to your TBR pile.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exhange for my honest review. All words and thoughts contained here are entirely my own.
A great bad boy book from Wood. It was really fun to read a romance set in South Africa. I love a hero who is opposed to falling in love, then does, and then has to fix the mess he made. Jed apprehension for love makes perfect sense, with his childhood and relationship history. McKenna wants to avoid love with a "bad boy," so she does not get hurt again. I loved her daughter, some great three year old related details.
Thanks Netgalley for the free review copy, in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this! Jed & McKenna are great together. I loved the suspense of the stalked & I didn't really think it was Craig but I defiantly didn't think it was Mattie! I wish it was longer & it ended kind of with a cliffhanger, even though I don't think there is a sequel. Overall I really enjoyed it.
I really loved this story about a twice bitten single mother, a die hard former military man, a precious little girl and a furious, mean stalker. There were engaging back stories to the characters that shown through in their ambivalence to becoming attached to each other. Well written and great read.
