In the year 2288, John Mendoza is a data analyst stuck in a boring job on the Moon. His life changes when he's recruited by a group of rich visionaries to fight humanity's nemesis, an AI based on Mars. But soon he discovers a seamy underside to the plot. They're targeting Mercury for its rich resources … and the woman Mendoza loves, Elfrida Goto, is there.
Mendoza risks his life to rescue Elfrida, but their relationship buckles as he's sucked into the struggle for the soul of humanity. The plotters intend to wage war on Mars, where humanity’s nemesis has its stronghold. And they have a new use for Mendoza. But there’s a fatal flaw in their plans, which endangers humanity's flagship colony on the Moon.
Will quick thinking save Mendoza … or are he and Elfrida doomed to perish in an atrocious act of genocide?

Felix R. Savage writes hard science fiction, space opera, and comedic science fiction. He has also occasionally been known to commit fantasy.
Felix has a long history associated with rebellion. He was born in the 1970s, a decade of American youth rebelling against the safe culture of their parents. He is married to a wonderful woman and they have two beautiful daughters. Together the four of them live in Tokyo serving their cat overlord and benevolent protector. Felix pounds the keyboard while not translating, delighting in his family, or catering to the whims of the family’s cat. He woke up one day to learn that he was a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, but he continues to keep a low profile, and never stops watching out for any sign the lizard people have found him.
The Luna Deception is the fourth book in The Solarian War Saga series. I do not recommend that you read this as a standalone book. To fully understand what's going on you should read these books in order. There is violence. This book started out slowly but improved from there. There are a lot of characters in this book and at first it took a bit to keep them all straight. The storyline is average but worth reading.
Pretty good series, pretty good book. Is it the best? No, but it's right up there with the very high standards set by the author. If you enjoy the long story lines of a series, this might be a good place to start. The only one I can think of that's better is David Weber's Honor Harrington series. And that's high praise. Recommended.
This one was more enjoyable to me than the previous books in this series. I think part of that had to do with enjoying Mendoza more than I do Elfrida.
That said, this book really got weird. While it did answer some questions raised in the other books, it definitely was not what I was expecting. I'm glad I continued the series and didn't give up after the last book.
This book starts out slow. I guess because the back story had to be laid in first. But, once it got rolling it just wouldn't stop. It was another exciting page turner by Mr. Savage. It ended a little abruptly for my taste...leaving my mouth watering for more. I guess with the next book coming out by the end of the year I won't have long to wait.
