قرأت هذا الكتاب في سنتي الأولى والثانية مقيمَ أمراضٍ باطنةٍ في مشفى حلب الجامعي، وأعتقد أنّه من أفضل ما قرأت.
عوضًا عن السير التقليدي الذي تُقدّم به الأمراض: الذي يبدأ بتعريف المريض وآليته وشيوعه وأسبابه، متبوعًا بأعراضه وعلاماته والاستقصاءات المرتطبة به، ووصولًا إلى العلاج، فإنّ هذا الكتاب يأخذ منحًى مشابهًا لما يواجهه الطبيب يومًا، إذ ينطلق من أعراض المرض، ويعلّم الطبيب عمّا يجب أن يسأل عنه في القصة السريرية وعن العلامات التي يجب أن يتحرى عنها وكيف يختار الاستقصاء المناسب، ومتى يجب أن يشعر بالقلق حيال أمورٍ مُنْذِرَةٍ في الفحص وما يجب فعله.
لا يعرّج الكتاب على العلاج إلّا أنّ هذا مفهومٌ، إذ أبقى على الكتاب مركزًا على مقاربة المريض.
