I am rating this book as a 2 stars for a couple of reasons. 1) the book is constantly making reference to this assessment 2) in order to take the assessment you have to connect with one of their approve/ trained sponsors 3) at least in my area it’s been a real challenge to get the counselors in my area to call me back. I even write the customer support email on their website they apologized that I was having trouble getting in touch with someone in my area. Recommended someone to me and they too never wrote me back!
I will not say the book is useless without out the assessment but I will say it constantly makes reference to it. It’s kind of like watching a sequel that constantly makes reference to the first movie that you have not watched. You can make it through but there will be a lot of gaps.
Prepare for some “hot monogamy.” Haha - something they said in one of their videos I believe. They also said, “There never has been a marriage like yours and there never will be.” I would highly recommend doing the SYMBIS test with premarital counselors and then doing this workbook with the videos with your fiancé and a small group. SO helpful. It gave guidance through talking about a myriad of topics and brought up great discussions during our homework time we did together and then back together with our small group. It’s something we will refer back to as we practice the things we were taught. I would suggest pairing this with a devotional or set prayer times, as there was less verses or prayer times than I had thought there would be. But it still was great! They also have a series about entering a second marriage for those looking for that. I’ve heard good things.
