Today Is Day One was an easy devotional read, but I felt that it was a bit repetitive, which made it not a favorite read. I did really like some of the devotions, though, so I'm glad I read it. All in all, I liked the book, but would have liked it to be a little more deep.

Love the title (which is also the heading on every page, each daily devotional). Serves as a great reminder that God’s mercies are new EVERY morning and every morning is a Day One start. For me it’s a great fit because that thought process carries even further to say, there’s no time now to look back on the yesterdays passed; we have this morning, right here right now, in front of us. The time is moving forward from this moment. Great for someone like me who has struggled with letting go of the mistakes of the past.
Day One every day also makes me think of us as picking up our cross daily and following Jesus.
God is amazing. He’s been teaching me with sharing my own story that it’s not for me to concern myself with making sure the audience “gets it” or even who the audience will be. God will make those connections and place the right people at the right times for His purposes. This devotional won’t be for everyone and may seem simple to many. But, to me, just the very use of the title is rich with meaning and full of complexities that set me in the right direction and pondering the word of God.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing an advanced reader copy for review.

This is an awesome devotional by a really cool Christian music artist. Matthew West took his song Day One, and used the truths in the lyrics to write a devotional that will lead you into a closer relationship with God. Matthew uses stories from fans, and his experiences to encourage us, and show us that asking how God can use us is more important than why, because why is a symptom of our doubts, and how is opening ourselves up to the power of faith.

Pick this devotional up when it hits the shelves. You will be uplifted, and encouraged.

Your today can be different than yesterday
And your tomorrow can be better than Today
It's time to start over, starting now Today is Day One

These are the voices
These are the lies
And I have believed them
For the very last time

Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I've been saved, I've been changed, and I have been set free
Amazing grace is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King It's day one of the best of my life
Well, every single day Your grace reminds me

I woke up this morning
Saw a world full of trouble now
Thought, how'd we ever get so far down
How's it ever gonna turn around
So I turned my eyes to Heaven

Well, I don't know about you
But I'm sick and tired of life with no desire
I don't want a flame, I want a fire
I wanna be the one who stands up and says
"I'm gonna do something"

The songs of his lyrics is amazingly and powerful. The songs of the lyrics has got different stories behind them and they are different in many ways.

I Just picked a few of my favourite ones.

Day One is one day at time in living a Day One Resolution to live in commitment to put God first, to put our hope in His goodness and steady our hearts on His promise.

Based on his hit song Day One (see his video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxCI-...) Matthew West puts the words of his song in a devotion that is encouraging and meant to strengthen our hearts towards the Father. He shares his heart and the struggles to live a Day One attitude.

Instead of asking why we can start asking how can God use me! It is in asking God how instead of why, we live in Day one attitude. Changing the question always brings us out of despair to joy! West and the testimony of fan base will inspire any reader.

If you are needing encouragement, or if you are a fan, or better yet, want to rest in the love of the God that loves you, you will be blessed by this little book and the power of words.

Some of the quotes I found encouraging.

I soon discovered that inability to speak increased by ability to listen. The words from Psalm 46:10 came to life for me in a whole new way: Cease striving and know that I am God!

If we don’t love them, how can we say the love of God is in us?

Day one is my new theme song! I asked her why that particular song was resonating with her. She responded with, Cuz, I just got fired from job!

Pick up a great encouragement from one of Christian Music artist it will change your day one day at time!

I found this to be a very inspiring devotioinal, not only for the Christian insights, but also the encouraging life points Mr. West had to share about fatherhood and every day life. The devotions were a perfct length for busy families on the go and long enough to give the reader plenty to digest. Ideal for both young and old, this devotional had me looking forward to the next day and inspired me to dig more into God's Word.
