Following on from the recently published initial volume, Black Horizon, it continues to focus on fast action and plenty of heroics.
Ben Carrington has remained with Gemini Force One since his mother died. A champion sportsman at his previous exclusive high school, he was learning skills to serve with his mother’s mountain rescue team when they came to the attention of former astronaut, turned successful entrepreneur, Jason Truby. After his mother died as part of Jason’s rescue team, Gemini Force One, Ben has done all that he could to become part of the team as well.
Ben is not without skills. He has plenty of heart and is brave and loyal. His weaknesses partially stem from his loyalty but mostly he has to learn to temper his impulsive nature if he is to be accepted as a full member of the team.
This story has several exciting situations, a major rescue to perform and people who will try stop them if they can. Ben is tested in various ways throughout the story and by the end he will know if he is accepted into the team.
Young adults are the target readership and this book seems ideally written for the boys in my school. They will enjoy the short chapters, fast-moving plot and rolling action eager to get to the next display of bravado.
