A Tailor-Made Bride I thought this one was super cute. I just loved Hannah and JT. Hannah and JT have great chemistry and some incredibly sweet moments together, and some funny ones too. A fun, charming story.
Short-Straw Bride I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I liked this one. I thought it was really well written, with very likable characters.
Stealing the Preacher The word that comes to mind when I think of this is "sweet" its a nice story with a sweet romance.
Content Rated PG Clean romances, mild kissing. Mild violence, no language. Christmas elements
Beautiful story of Love, Hope, Forgiveness and Redemption!
This author has recently become one of my favorites. I have been reading several of her books lately and find that each are incredibly well written. Her writing is smooth and polished. Her storylines are always deep and interesting and keep you enthralled. Most importantly, aside from genuinely good storylines with well developed characters, surprises and perfect timing, they each have plenty of heart, esp. this one. Be sure to have some tissues on hand. I have the highest praise for Ms. Witemeyer's novels.
This is a three book combination in one and it is one of the best and most exciting books I've read in a long time. The first is about the trials of a young woman trying to make her way and success in a world that isn't made for women to succeed. The second and third are about a family of orphan brothers making their ways alone, success and their loves. I hope the rest of the brothers get their stories told.
This series of books was outstanding, each one becoming a new favorite. Karen Witemeyer pulls you in making you fall in love with each character, cheering for them, laughing with them and crying right along with all their joy and sorrow.
Her words pull you into the story where her vivid descriptions paint pictures across the blank canvas of your imagination, making you long for the hot, dry fields of a historic Texas.
Really sweet! I always enjoy Karen Witemeyer’s books. My only issue with the first two is that the female protagonists almost seemed a little too perfect—the men had to change a lot of their values/opinions/beliefs, but the women didn’t really have to change theirs. But I love the Archer brother stories, and reading Short-Straw Bride gives more context to Stealing the Preacher, which I had already read.
I like reading historical fiction and I have only just recently included Karen as an author to my collection of authors to read. I am getting ready to read a novella she has written with some other authors I read. this book has three of Karen's past books. The Archer brothers I knew about but hadn't known there background n there coming out into community life. A Taylor made Bride: Hannah n Jericho's story. Hannah has believed that opening her own dressmaker shop was her dream n God's dirction for her life. Jericho n Delia Tucker (brother n sister) lived in a small town where he owned the livery n had Tom ( a simple boy/man) and Danny a young boy who helped his ma out while his sisters Tessa n Molly helped in ma's laundry business. A lovely story but a complex issue about clothing/beauty/temptation in God's eyes n society at this time. This theme actually got me thinking about the changes in the last 40 years, as today's fashion of these things is anything goes n money driven. Short Straw Bride: Travis n Meredith's story The promo into the story of when Travis n Meredith meet on Archer land. A bully has thrown Meredith's lunch pail on Archer land. No one trespasses on Archer land. In retrieving her lunch pail Meredith's right leg gets caught in an animal trap. Travis comes to her aid n takes her home. 12 years later Meredith hears of some mischief that's going to happen on Archer land. She goes to warn them. All four Archer boys are introduced to Meredith n she stays to help. Unfortunately in helping she gets kicked in the head by a donkey called Samson n is unconscious for a time. Her uncle comes on Archer land to get his niece n then demands she is to marry one of the Archers. All four boys were interested in marrying her. Her cousin Cassie meets Jim n their is a strong attraction there. Delightful story Stealing the Preacher : Crockett n Joanna's story Just by the title gets you thinking what is this about with a smirk at least on your face. With the Archer family coming out in community Crockett most interest has been spiritual n medicine. Having serviced as an apprentice pastor he is ready to explore his wings n adventure starts on is train journey. Delightful story of answered past prayers n what God can do in his timing. I do miss community worship(if cancelled) n seek it out n any gathering during the week. This drive had Joanna motivated to have community fellowship. gentle God led story.
I have read the individual novels in the collection and they are fabulous. Karen Witemeyer is ALWAYS a Goodread. So clever and fun. I adore her characters. If you like funny, but smart romantic Christian Westerns, you will like... make that love... Brides of Texas.
Brides of Texas by Karen Witemeyer. Three stories of wonderful romance. I loved the characters and the storyline. Each was entertaining and the romance was sweet.
As far as Christian romance novels go Witemeyer is a good read. I liked the Archer Brothers stories better than Tailor- Made Bride. I think because they had a little more plot to them than just the couple falling in love. Also, the brothers are just a lot of fun. All in all a very sweet cheesy and easy read.
