Spanning twenty-six years, Selected 1996 - 2022 brings together eight plays by Irish writer Tina O’Rourke.
From two strangers sharing a table in Circle Me, to a writer whose characters refuse to remain inside her script in Silence; from the shifting perspectives of Plays 3 to the fractured community of The Estate, these plays move between the everyday, the absurd, the comic and the unsettling.
People talk. People fail to listen. Relationships fracture. Worlds shift.
Written between 1996 and 2022, the collection traces recurring preoccupations across more than two decades of O’Rourke’s theatre communication and isolation, repetition and silence, power, identity, and the strange instability beneath ordinary life.
The collection includes Circle Me, Silence, Plays 3, The Estate, War, Exit – Tobias Snee, Here We Go and Who Are We?, with illustrations by Alan Fitzpatrick.
