In the battleground of the mind, many of us are ill-equipped. We say we want to grow, improve, and succeed, but so often we silently and effectively kill our own dreams by the things we tell ourselves. Shift Your Thinking provides truly unconventional, yet highly practical ways to re-engineer our thought-life and behaviors so we can attain the things we say are important to us. Dean Del Sesto shows busy readers how to make small shifts in their thinking that can have big impacts. These to-the-point readings will provoke, inspire, and move readers to improve all areas of life, work, and relationships through simple, yet critical shifts in the way we govern our thinking. Del Sesto introduces readers to provocative ideas like
•If we were a brand would we buy ourselves, or keep shopping? •During tough times in life, it's easy to medicate ourselves with distraction. •When we begin to think less of what people think of us, it is then we are able to think. •If we gossiped about ourselves for a week, we might never gossip about another again. •Don't confuse being a visionary with the ability to actually bring forth a vision. •Wisdom is saying enough to prove our point, not our existence.
Each principle can be applied instantly to readers' lives, making Shift Your Thinking a useful, valuable source of inspiration and motivation in a rapidly changing world.
I loved the format of this book; each Shift Point is about a page of text with clear directions and prompts. The Shift Points themselves are not necessarily new ideas, but the way Sesto has presented them makes them feel new. I had to take one star off for the never-ending pun titles. They were super cute at first, but got a bit worn after a while.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
This book has me really thinking about my thinking. If you are looking for a book to change the way you think (or if you're tired of stinking thinking), this book will shift your thinking for sure. There are 200 quotes with a short thought by the author under each quote. Many of these quotes will make you think about things on a higher level (you've been warned), but will grab your interest.
This is not a book you will want to read in one setting, you won't be able to grasp all that this contains. How I approached the book (if you noticed, I started reading the book in December 2016) is to read maybe 1-5 a day, and let the one that sticks out at me be the one I think on for the day. The author (in the intro) gives a way to read this so you don't miss anything in it.
All I can is Wow. Dean del Sesto really opened my eyes wide. Some of the stuff he talks about I knew but he puts it in such a way that if you want to change you act on the advice you are getting. I 'm a new person indeed.
I like the format of this book,as it encourages the reader to make one change at a time.Read one page at a time, and then DO the change. We all dream of the change, but is hard to Do It.This book will help manage the process. At a price of $5.99,I believe this is a bargain! Inspiration that is cheaper than lunch at a fast food establishment.I'm on my way to improving myself, thanks to goodreads sending this book to me.How about you, would inspirational changes be worth your while?
