Strong leaders have vision that is both far-reaching and focused on the details. Having that vision is what separates the church with a hodge-podge of ineffective programs and activities from churches that reach people effectively, efficiently, and consistently with the Good News. Now in its third edition, this groundbreaking book continues to offer church planters, pastors, and ministry leaders concrete help with crafting vision statements, encouraging buy-in from the influencers in the church, turning up the energy level, and ultimately growing the church.
A helpful book for someone (like myself) struggling with vision. Malphurs is very practical, yet also gives generalities when different situations may encounter different difficulties. His explanation of vision was greatly beneficial, in the sense that vision is a future picture of your church or ministry. It's not a goal or a dream necessarily, but it's an idea that you're trying to make a reality in your work. Find your vision, get people excited about it, and continue to excite people about the vision. All-around, this is a very helpful work from Malphurs.
Some solid advice and strategies based on years of experience. Will revisit this books if there comes a time in which I’m involved in crafting a vision.
