The music, the beauty, the social awareness of Selena still causes many to stop and remember, to cry and laugh, to enjoy the music. I have chosen to remember Selena by reading this book published shortly after her death as an homage targeted to young adults/popukar.audience who are both more and less traditional in their culture and language as indicated by the dual-language format. The photographs of the young beautiful vibrant singer appeal to an even larger audience.

Here I found some ways to enjoy the work and to honor the memory of Selena. I did not realize she had a small/emergent acting career, including acting in una telnovela/a Mexican soap opera Dos Mujeres un Camino . I will see how I may watch.

Although the writing is quite professional, the undercurrent and the photographs together show the emotionally intense (mostly) subtext.

Note. For those interested in a more adult and academic rhetorical biography written years later without the emotional subtext, I recommend Selenidad: Selena, Latinos, and the Performance of Memory by Deborah Paredez.

This was a very good book about the singer. It is a beautiful tribute to her and I was very happy to read it. It has a lot of color and black and wihte pictures of Selena that are very beautiful. It shows and tells everyone how beautiful of a person Selena was inside and out! It's so sad and tragic that her life had to be cut short, she was never given the chance to reach her full potential and there is no telling the amazing accomplishments she would have under her belt today if she was alive. Such a beautiful book.
