Another Way to Be: The Path Within

Rate this book
This is the tale of a young man's quest for awareness, understanding, and knowledge. He is guided on this inner journey by a rather mysterious and often humorous older gentleman, José Humevo. The story unfolds physically in the Puget Sound region of the Pacific Northwest and metaphysically in regions that the young man, Nils Christiansen, is learning to navigate; sometimes with assistance, sometimes on his own. Seven principles of learning and a sequence of unconventional practices are introduced along the way. Nils is encouraged to incorporate these principles and practices into the fabric of his daily life. He repeatedly finds himself in situations, both challenging and supportive, that help him understand and anchor the concepts presented by his mentor. As his awareness grows, Nils begins to question the assumptions that he has used to construct his worldview. The more he explores these assumptions, the more he realizes how limited his perception has been. He stumbles again and again, only to discover that these unexpected detours are an integral part of learning to follow the path within.

An unfortunately predictable story with an important message.
