This book was given to me as a gift from my great aunt and uncle when I was ten, and I’ve loved it ever since. The characters are great, the story itself is meaningful, and the illustrations are beautiful. I do believe that I almost cried during this book as well. It’s high time for a re-read! This is a bittersweet story that I recommend to YA and middle grade readers alike. =)

I've read this book twice and enjoyed it both times. The ending made me happy and kind of tearful. It is a really good story and fast-paced. The characters are appealing--you learn to care for them. It is suspenseful, thrilling, entertaining, has great morals and an enjoyable book overall. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Christian Middle Grade book
I loved this book as a kid and love it even more as an adult! Sword fights, daring rescues, dear friends, and true love!
Flawed, lovable, vulnerable characters worth rooting for!

War, and realistic Soldier Mental Health.
Quick but deep (and accurate!) theology interspersed naturally, so it never felt forced or preachy.

An older book, so it used the term “queer” to mean strange exactly one time, and a black mouse is named “Blackie” because of his fur.

I loved this book as a kid and love it more as an adult!

Reading this book is so nostalgic for me. It was given to me as a kid & I have bread it several times over the years. This sweet adventure is all about trust, love, courage, & growing into who God created you to be. The relationships are precious, the adventures are exhilarating, & the cleverness of this story just makes me happy.

Throughout his journey, Chip wrestles with things that we all do. I love that this book brings difficult concepts to kid-levels, while still being a great story and an engaging read.

The Book Journey to Freedom is about a rat named Chip who has to face the challenge of leading his people to a free and better life. But it doesnt come easy he still has to fight the fierce and strong brown rats but with the help of the "Maker" he has the power to do anything.

The theme in my book is that freedom comes with a price and with help you can achieve it.

In the movie "glory" with Denzel Washington the soldiers had to fight for their freedom as well as in my book "Journey to Freedom."

I liked the book because the book has fighting and war in the book and i like to read about war.

I cannot recommend this book enough for people of ALL ages! C.S. Lewis once said something to the effect of "If an adult cannot enjoy a children's story, then it is a bad children's story." "Journey to Freedom" lives up to that high standard. :)
The plot is INCREDIBLE and is a GREAT allegory. The characters... I absolutely fell in love with them. The writing is colorful and descriptive, and crammed with FANTASTIC amounts of tears, laughter, and adventure.
I've read a fair amount of Morris's writing, and I think this is the best one he's ever written.
