I am Susannah, and I’m beautiful, accomplished, calm and polite. What they don’t know is that I’m also another girl, one who is hot-tempered, brave – and an expert at throwing knives.
We settled in Dragoncourt, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Or, I would have been if it wasn’t for the dumb prophecy about the prosperous times which predicts that I’m bound by fate to Kee, the beautiful Dreughan Prince. The golden one. The only one who acutely dislikes me.
Then disaster strikes and I have no choice but to let go of the good girl. I have to lie and deceive my way straight into Pantano, the stronghold of the Waterfolk, where I’m forced to do bad things in the name of love and fury.
In the end, it’s time to decide; Am I the good girl or the wild one? Or can I be both?
In the second book in the Dreughan trilogy, set in a medieval fantasy world from a thousand years ago, we follow Susannah through adventure and romance. It’s a story about daring to be yourself, and the lengths you will go to save the ones you love.
The Dreughan trilogy can be read standalone, but it’s also the starting point for Ms. North’s Urban Fantasy series "Birds of a Feather".
The proper way to put it here would probably be to describe how I love to play with our two big dogs, how much I adore my fantastic daughters and how much I love to read.
Another way would be to use my imagination and then I would be a super powerful warrior woman, think Xena the warrior princess (though with less tacky clothes). Or when I think of it, maybe I’m actually more of a Hercule Poirot (sans the suit and moustache). Or maybe I’m like Aragorn, strong and cool and then I might get to meet Gandalf! Or I could be Bella’s pretty cousin and snap Jacob up in a second (yeah, I’m so not team Edward), or wait, maybe I could be like one of them heroines in historical novels who swoon all the time. I’ve always wanted to swoon…
Well, I guess you get how my mind is working (or not working, some say).
Anyways, I like to write. Stories, adventures, romantic and happy stuff mixed up with sorrow and hardship, and bit of laughter here and there because the way I see it – life is way too short to go around feeling grumpy.
Even best friends have secrets and Susannah is no different. In her village she was the leader’s beautiful daughter, polished, poised and rational. Now that she has escaped death with Vilma and Troy, she is discovering a world she never dreamed of, a world she is ill-prepared for and yet people are still listening to her calm voice of reason.
Now that Vilma has found her true mate, Susannah can admit she is attracted to Kee, but the beautiful prince smiles at everyone but her. He acts like he hates her, but why? She is becoming a warrior in her own right, and when Kee is taken by the Water People, Sannah is determined to bring him back at any cost, even her own life. Complete with a plan that relies on perfect timing, a lot of luck and help from an unlikely source, she is going into enemy territory to bring the battered man home.
Surely Kee will see that the “Good” girl has become a woman of conviction and strength with a “Wild” side to admire. But will he tell her why he ignores her? Could it be that love and hate are closer emotions than she knows?
Reason by Lena North takes us back into a world of war and mistrust, where one must guard their heart and secrets from possible enemies. This is Sannah’s story, the story of the rebirth of a spoiled young girl into a strong and capable young woman in love. Along with fiery Vilma and the ever joking Troy, once again, these three prove their love and loyalty to each other and to those in the new land they call home and Lena North just keeps getting better and better.

Ever read a book where your feels are so twisted that you don't know how to explain yourself? Yeah, well I'm feeling that way right now.
There's no logical explanation to why I liked this so much, I mean all things considered it was awful.
PROS ~
I loved the drama....I think. Idk. I loved the book. There's no explanation why. Dragons? Characters? Details? Scenes?
MARCO 😍😍😍😍😍😍
CONS ~
· Characters were super annoying....always doing things unrealistically. · The book was full of drama. · Rushed moments. · Unrealistic romance. · No development whatsoever. · Little details.....about nothing--no description. · Dialogue was rough. · So. Many. Scenes. Where everyone went crazy over what someone else said. Ugh · Some bad words. · Nearly all the characters acted the same. · No refreshing tragedy. · No plot development. · There was no BIG challenges....everything they faced was easily taken care of. · There were a lot of scenes where D·R·A·M·A was happening....and it didn't make sense. · A lot of violent threats and awkward comments. · Some random comments that didn't connect to the plot. · The men who had girls were always making mistakes and had to come apologize to their difficult women. *eye roll* · Needs a lot of work. · Did I already mention how AWFUL THAT DIALOGUE WAS??! · JUST. EVERYTHING.
Somebody plz tell me why I love this so much . . . .
I received a digital copy of this book by the author, Lena North in return for an honest review. This is the second installment to the Dreughan Series and follows Susannah during her quest for survival and for the love she deserves and must fight to preserve. Her battles are no less intense than those of her brave friend of Vilda but are displayed differently as she has always been known as the proverbial "good girl." She displays her loyalty and her strength during the trials she must go through to save the w=one she loves and to show him what she's worth.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review. I read the first book to this series and I found it very pleasing, intriguing, and captivating. This book was very interesting as well and I really enjoyed learning about Susannah and her true self. This book had a little more action in it than the first book and I loved it at some point in the book am like omg is this really Susannah??!!!! I love the series and am off to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!
Reason is the second book in the Dreughan series, and this time it is Sannah who is the main character. This follows on from Courage and should definitely be read as part of the series, rather than a standalone.
She has said she doesn't want Kee, but we all know she is lying. Through this book, we learn just why she lied, plus how they overcame that and became the happy couple we want them to be. Although this is Sannah's book, and she tells a magnificent story, I will admit to holding Valerian in my heart! He played a part in Vilda's story and certainly plays a part here. He is kind and considerate, whilst also being firm when needed. He is the General after all.
Vilda and Drake are still going strong, and I love the jokes that happen between this close-knit family by bond.
Once again, I will say there were a couple of errors in this book. But as before, the writing was so good I am more than happy to overlook those as they definitely didn't impact my enjoyment of the story at all.
I am going straight into Joy. I am LOVING this series, with its amazing characters and world-building that is good enough for the reader to see, and can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely fantastic.

Wow! I loved the second book in the Dreughan series. Susannah is an incredibly fun and complex character. She is probably one of my favorite literary characters to date as I found myself connecting with her. The story itself has action, adventure, and just a page turning tension that keeps you gripped in the story. I am so excited to continue this series, learning even more about the world and the characters, in the next book.
Reason by Lena North is Book 2 in her Dreughan series. In Reason this story is about Susannah and how she is exactly that. We are reunited with Susannah, Vilda and Troy as they are living with the dragons in Dreughan court. Vilda is happy with her mate Drake but Susannah is believed to be the one who will be fated to be with Keeghan. On a level she wishes this but she doesn't want to be forced on him. However as time goes on Susannah and Keeghan come to see that they really do care about each other and want to be together. There is much to this story as we learn a lot about Susannah herself and what she is really like. Yes, she's a good girl but she's much more than that too. Susannah really shows a lot of her strength and resolve when she goes after the Waterfolk when Keeghan is kidnapped thanks to a traitor in their midst. This deepens her love for him as she will go to whatever lengths she must inorder to try and save him. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Courage, and I really enjoyed this book as well. There are moments where I literally burst out laughing at the comics of the characters and how they are with each other. But what I love most about this book is when all the pieces begin to fall together and you are given the prophecy again and come to understand the depths of what it all really means. It's so well done, well written and so well thought out that it's probably my favorite part of the whole story. All I have to say is this...if you enjoyed Courage and are looking to continue reading this series I highly recommend that you pick this book up and read it.
This is the second story in the series, and I found it as interesting as the first. This time it is about Susannah and Keegan or Kee. The usual friends are there, Vilda, Drake and Troy. We get to know more about dragons and each of the characters are really developed more in depth. What I like is that even though Troy, Vilda and Sannah had it tough growing up, they were able to stick together to get through difficult situations. They were fated to be together. I also enjoy that each of them has sense, and loyalty about them. There is plenty of action and intrigue along with a traitor in their midst. You can see that these 3 friends will each find their soul mates and resolve ancient conflicts. Even the supporting characters are interesting and you find yourself rooting for them. The way the author has described the settings, you can imagine yourself in this world. If you like hunger games then this series is for you - only with dragons. I look forward to reading the next in the series about Troy.
This second book in the series by Lena North was very good! I liked hearing Susannah's story. The three close friends who make up the Courage, Reason, Joy trio are so much fun to read about. Her story is completely different from Vilda's. Their personalities are opposites, with Susannah a voice of reason, being a planner and organized and in control of things. Vilda is the wild, crazy, strong one. Well, in this story, as Sannah grows in confidence, she becomes stronger, and takes everyone by surprise when she does some amazing things, and reveals her aptitude with knives. In this book, it's revealed the destined match between her and the prince Kee. When he is threatened, she changes from the nice girl she grew up as, to the brave fighter that would do anything to protect her man. It's a very intense story, with plenty of light moments among the friends and their new people. I enjoyed reading of their adventures and getting an in depth look at Susannah's life and family. I'm looking forward to the third book in the series, Troy's story.
Everyone thinks Susannah is a good girl. But there are sides of her that even her best friends don't know. Like her expertise with knives. Like her cunning and quick thinking. This is part 2 of the Dreughan series, continuing where Courage left off. Susannah is hiding the fact that she is unhappy being the compliant and reasonable one. She is attracted to Kee, but doesn't want to because of a prophesy linking her and Kee - she wants him to love her for who she is, not the prophecy. When Prince Kee is kidnapped, Susannah takes off on her own to rescue him - from the heart of Pantano, the royal city of the Waterfolk. She lies her way into the city, discovers unexpected allies there, and discovers a greater plot than even the Prince's kidnapping. I like this series a lot, and think the author did a great job of worldbuilding, and the continuity from book to book is really good. If you like adventure and romance, I think you will like this. Now, on to book 3!
Reason by Lena North is a wonderful story. It is the second book in the Dreughan series. I have not read the first book in the series but was able to understand and keep up with this one. I do, however, think the reading experience would have been much better had I read the first book. Reason is Susannah's story. I liked her character a lot. I liked that she didn't sit back meekly and let things happen around her. She was fierce and let it show. She didn't let anyone hold her back. There is plenty of adventure, romance, and fantasy mixed into the plot and it keeps you reading. I enjoyed Reason a lot and look forward to reading book 1 and book 3. I would highly recommend Reason to anyone who enjoys Young adult reads with strong female characters.
The second book in the Dreughan series. Absolutely love Susana, she is not afraid go speak her mind and she has the most amazing sense to protect the ones she loves.I really love the way Lena makes each character strong, they are all just as important to the story line as much as the next. There just seems to be secret after secret being revealed. But its amazing how friends and family are always there to get each other through the tough times. Truly enjoyed reading this book, not enough praise.Full video review on YouTube channel Adventures-IN-Print. https://youtu.be/WZCVZhy1K1U
Reason by Lena North is the second in The Dreughan series. In this book, the story focuses around Sannah and Kee with dragons, settlements, etc.
Lena North is a master storyteller in this series and it is experienced through the book of Reason. I found Sannah to be a strong and resourceful young girl, at fifteen. She perseveres and is a logical thinker. What normal fifteen today is like that? There is young love interwoven within the story.
For those who are looking for a challenging story focused on a set of friends and those they interact along the way, read this book/series.
