Jessica is an LA girl that has been writing fiction and poetry since middle school. She holds a BA in English from Xavier University in Louisiana, and an MFA in Fiction from San Diego State University. She's a dog mommy to the infamous Dijon Mustard, and in addition to writing all the stories that play out in her head, she enjoys yapping on facetime with her homegirls and long walks on the beach.
This book didn’t go as I expected at all. Eat niggas? Lmao. That tickled me. I enjoyed this book much more than Javi. It was more detailed and was turned up from the get go. This was the lore I was looking for in Javi. Smurf and Willow were a great addition to the story. Definitely urban paranormal if that’s what you’re looking for. The two Mildreds thing did confuse me a bit.
Hate the term “hole”. Some of the writing felt a little repetitive.
I had so much fun reading this novella from start to finish. It was different. It felt fresh, and most of all, I enjoyed how Odee moved through it as a conduit for the audience to get a refresher on this paranormal world. The blend this author does between her urban history of Kenton mingled with the paranormal elements of this story was just 🤌🏾! Odee seeking revenge started the book, reminding me of Bones, the Snoop Dogg movie. I wanted to see how he would come through the regulate to protect the ones he love. I'm excited to see what the author does next in this world. And I am excited to see how Willow and Smurf have grown. I want to know how Odee is going to treat his heart when he see's the changes she goes through. The violence was peak; this is urban fantasy/paranormal done perfectly. This felt like reading an Urban Paranormal Fiction. You will get pew pew, violence, blood, sex, good times, a weed sesh, and street vengeance all wrapped up in some paranormal surprises that will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but I really enjoyed it! It had a unique feel to it that kept me interested and wanting to see what would happen next.
And let me tell you, Odee meant every word when he said he was getting revenge. He got his revenge back in blood, and I was here for it! The way the story unfolded definitely kept me engaged.
I’m so happy that Jessica A. is expanding on this story because I feel like there’s still so much more to explore. I can’t wait to see where she takes it next and what else is in store for these characters.
I’m half and half on how I feel about this one. There actually wasn’t so much story which was fine cause I loooove me some lore, especially when it comes to paranormal stories… but the lore almost didn’t feel like enough.
I know this was meant to be a short book and I do think the Jessica was able to tell a story I was invested in for sure. I think I wound up having so many questions though that it didn’t feel complete. That could just be a me thing.
I also feel like ol’ girl got off waaaay too easy but hey, maybe we’ll see her outcome on the next episode 🤭
I do need to go read Javi now though cause I am intrigued!
This was my first paranormal read by the author. I definitely enjoyed the side characters in this book. I want to see more of Smurf and baby girl from the club. The way she ran off from the club like a hood Cinderella. I kid, I kid lol but that scene added much excitement. My only wish was that Syko got a little more torture. Now Tasia Story, I got some words heffa but I'll be nice.
By the way, there is a lot of lore in this book and names you'll have to re-read if you're like me, lol. If you enjoy world-building paranormal, I recommend it!
I have questions, comments, AND concerns lol For this to only have 91 pgs, I really enjoyed the writing style and the world building (warning it’s a lot)
I have a certain level of appreciation for authors that include pronunciation keys and give us title chapters!!
Clearly by that ending, I’m going to need a whole lot more of what she’s putting on paper
I really enjoyed A Week with Odee! I love how your imagination works because mixing revenge and supernatural elements the way you did was so creative! Odee definitely had me questioning some of his decisions because, sir, was all that necessary? 😭😂You definitely know how to keep a reader intrigued and wanting more. Keep doing your thing my girl 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
He’s mine! Jessica has done it again. She packed a punch and had me hooked through the entire 91 pages. I was left wanting more, but not because she didn’t bring enough. It was because the novella was JUST THAT GREAT! Between the Lore, not knowing what was next, and Easter eggs. Her mind!!! I loved it and can’t wait to see what we get next!
Loved this! I look forward to seeing more of Odee, Manny, and Javi. The lore was so perfect, I learned so many new things lol. And I just loved Smurf and Willow! I’m a sucker for a nerdy man who don’t play lol! Great read per usual, Jessica A.!
I think I would’ve liked a novel length version of this novella. It went over a lot of information and concepts that I wasn’t able to fully grasp. It was interesting but I think more words would’ve helped me understand and enjoy it.
I enjoyed reading this short story as I knew that I would. Jessica has become one of my favorites to look for. This delivered action, anticipation, and looking for the rest of the characters. I appreciate the elements of death, redemption, family.
This was such a great time! It was packed with information, but it was explained so well. This is a novella but it didn’t feel like one. I’m excited for Manny’s book!!
This is my first time reading this genre. Maybe I would’ve enjoyed this more if I was into these types of books. It wasn’t bad, just wasn’t what I expected.
