Mande Matthews

Mande Matthews is the author of the ShadowLight Saga. Her debut novel is "Bonded" - book one of the ya epic fantasy trilogy. A free prequel to the ShadowLight Saga, entitled "The LightKeepers" is now available for free at most online retailers.

While attending a performing arts college for writing and arranging, Mande discovered Joseph Cambell's Masks of God series. Her desire to understand humanity through myth and legend mingled with her love of fantasy fiction, birthing her life-long quest to create original new worlds for readers.

A hermit at heart, Mande recedes into the realms of imagination where she occasionally surfaces to face the real world aided by her minions: a husband who plays the dog drum (the belly of their border collie), and a menagerie of furred, feathered and mostly magical friends.

Confusing, yet enjoyable.

A bit hard to navigate, what with so many links and all. It's very surely an enjoyable collection of books. I could not put them down. When my kindle died I bawled my eyes out. You are welcome, world.

First hooks

I liked all the novels but I am not a fan of just first books. I do like conclusions in my boxed set. All that being said the authors were WONDERFUL. Thank you all for giving me another out look into the paranormal.

A mix of good and bad. Introduced me to some new authors whose books I'll try but also some who need to improve their writing skills.

Many great first stories

This is a great selection to whet the appetite for authors with some very original stories. A good way to dip your toes.

A good variety of stories - and yes, there are cliffhangers that one would need to get the next book for answers. Thanks for the opportunity to read all of the stories. There was some confusion I think because of all the information contained between the stories but I can understand why the authors would want to include it.

Waste of time

Just a bunch of beginners, bits or excerpts of a book, kind of like reading a brief chapter and then left hanging.

This one has to go onto my unfinished shelf. I understand now why such a huge box set was free: each of these stories is a partial, a teaser or written in some way to entice you to purchase the full edition.
I read through the first four stories, but I honestly did not care enough for what I read to want to purchase the second half of the story.
The cover is absolutely beautiful, and it's the reason I was tempted to pick this up. That and the price tag. I would rather pay 99c, or upwards of that to have a collection of complete stories. They don't have to be full-length novels, either. Novellas or short stories, so long as they are complete are much more likely to make me purchase more by an author.
Reading a bunch of partials just leaves me feeling very unsatisfied and like I have wasted my time. That's just me, and you might really enjoy this set.
