My four year old daughter is on book five and has been loving this set; the stories are far more engaging than those in the reading curriculum I have been using. The pace at which they gradually get more difficult has been perfect for her. It’s hard to create engaging stories with exclusively short vowel sounds, but they managed it!

Perfect set for a struggling and reluctant 1st grade reader. Word patterns and rhyming words are used throughout each book. Book 1 is the easiest and each book progressively get a little tougher. Each book has short puzzles, games to help check reading comprehension. The first few books are meant to be read in tandem with an adult and eventually in the middle of the set, the books are meant to be read by the child alone.
