C. G. Cooper is the USA TODAY and AMAZON BESTSELLING author of the CORPS JUSTICE novels, several spinoffs and a growing number of stand-alone novels.

One of his novels, CHAIN OF COMMAND, won the 2020 James Webb Award presented by the Marine Heritage Foundation for its portrayal of the United States Marine Corps in fiction. Cooper doesn't chase awards, but this one was special.

Cooper grew up on a steady diet of Dungeons & Dragons and the travels of a Navy family.

Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Foreign Affairs, Cooper was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve six years as an infantry officer. C. G. Cooper's final Marine duty station was in Nashville, Tennessee, where he fell in love with the laid-back lifestyle of Music City.

His first published novel, BACK TO WAR, came out of a desire to link back to his time in the Marine Corps. That novel, written as a side project, spawned many follow-on novels, several exciting spinoffs, and catapulted Cooper's career.

Cooper lives just south of Nashville with his wife, three children, and their German shorthaired pointer, Liberty, who's become a popular character in the Corps Justice novels.

Fun Read

Another C.G. Cooper book, the second in the Daniel Briggs series. Somewhat better than the first, but three and a half stars are not allowed and four is just too many.

Another excellent book.

C. G. Cooper books and this series always keeps me up late at night. Many turns and twists ends with shocking ending. Liked Anna characters hope she will be developed in the future books. Wonder what Daniel going to get into in Seattle?

This is the 2nd book in the series. This takes place before the Corps Justice series.

Our hero is now off of the train from the last time we left him. He needed more alcohol to drink because he was out and if he could get that and a view of the ocean…he was set. The locals saw him as a challenge and approached him and soon learned he was more skilled than he looked. He soon runs into a priest who was kind enough to help him. However, when he gets back to the church and meets up with his daughter, our hero knows something else is going on. Soon he finds out and wants the priest to do the right thing and stop the helping of the girls he hides there as hostages.

The priest doesn’t want to do it, but people he owes money to make him or else they will do something to either his daughter or the church. He can’t stop it. However, soon the daughter finds out and calls her estranged mother and takes the girls there. Soon after, the daughters in more trouble than she knows and the only one that can really help her is our hero.

The plot is unique with the estranged mother and grandfather. The father is not a fighter that’s for sure so the daughter must take more from the mother than the father. Thankfully our hero is there and can fight for the father because he sure can’t.

Towards the end of the book the hero starts see and makes more sense of god and the bible (although not heavily referenced so don’t worry!) which turns him away from how heavily he was drinking.

This is the 2nd book in the series. It is interesting how the authors are putting together the storylines. I wonder where our hero’s travels will take us next.

A Review of the Audiobook

Published in 2016 by Tantor Audio
Read by David Colacci
Duration: 7 hours, 17 minutes
Unabridged

Daniel Briggs is a retired Marine sniper who is struggling with alcohol and his own personal demons, especially an internal drive to fight and kill that he calls "The Beast".

Briggs is a drifter who stumbles into trouble as he wanders the country and often finds himself in the middle of trouble, much like Lee Childs' character Jack Reacher. If you are familiar with the Reacher series, Briggs is more morose and angry than Reacher, but I think that they would find a lot in common.

Briggs is in Maine, drinking at a touristy bar when he encounters some drunks giving the waitress a hard time. He takes them on, wins and then discovers that the police are coming for him. Briggs takes off on foot and encounters a friendly local preacher who is delivering food to members of his church - sort of a rolling food pantry.

The preacher takes in Briggs for the evening and Briggs discovers...

Every Life Of Crime Ends Badly

That is certainly true in this case. An aging, frail, ex-prisoner Russian former military officer has come to know the Cold War philosophy of mutually assured destruction was a near guarantee of self destruction in the long run. So with a dedicated group of mature-thinking business minded friends and associates he sets about to create an organization that will allow its participants the opportunity to achieve what was heretofore impossible. A wonderful dream that was nearly side tracked by his self-centered, greedy daughter. As is always the hopeful result, good triumphs over evil, but not without some undesired consequences. As with the previous book in this series, Author Cooper has written in smooth, flowing prose, a timeless story of hope, imagination, love and promise emerges with very real, developed characters who provide a welcome freshness and hope. This deserves its well-earned five stars!

Fallen. C.G. Cooper

Daniel Briggs, former Marine sniper has a moral compass to help people in need. Even though common sense would be the better choice. He's just not wired that way. He discovers while staying at a church over night, invited to stay overnight there is a illegal smuggling ring . The product? Kidnapped females. Russians. The pastor has been forced to assist the kidnappers. Or so Daniel has been lead to believe. Tricked, duped from the very beginning once they discoverer Daniels unique talents. Problem is they underestimated him. This is an extremely fast paced action packed read. Enjoyed immensely.

A CGC. Mystery Novel (EBB. - 2)/Canada/Boston/Slave Market Run by Russians/A Marine at Work

CGC. has. penned the second novel of th Daniel Briggs series. Our intrepid Marine get off the train in a coastal town in Canada. Ends up sleeping in a small house attached to a church. When strolling around he stumbles on an underground room built for slave traffic. It's a downhill run from then. The Russians arrive and take the Pastors daughter. DB. Sets out for Boston to rescue the daughter. The Russian job is not worried because he is one man. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

'Fallen' completely surprised me with the twists and the way the story played out. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time. I literally didn't put this book down. Full of action, thrilling scenarios, great characters and some ass-kicking moves. Daniel is such a bad-ass. I love his character. He is always showing a side of him that surprises me. He has the ability to pretty much blend in anywhere and that is an advantage. Rex and Julian were a great asset to the story. I can't wait to see what Daniel steps in next. A great add to your tbr list.

Fairly decent story about a former sniper from the marines. No such thing as an ex marine, right? Dan Briggs is much like Jack Reacher except he's an alcoholic. He sobers up when the chips are down and he needs to do his thing. Also, unlike Reacher, he is able to draw from other ex military to give him helping hand when he needs it.

This story involves human trafficking and the Russian mob. Of course you know Briggs is going to save the day.

Reading the first of the series is not really necessary to enjoy this one. Same character but different plots.

Another Great Story!
Daniel Briggs is traveling around and stops in Old Orchard Beach Maine, where his knack for finding trouble get him into a bar fight with a group of trouble makers.
As he is trying to leave a local Pastor and his daughter are willing to put him up for awhile to help him.
As the trouble comes calling and involves the Pastor and his daughter Daniel will do what must be done to protect them.
This story has a lot of twists and turns and will keep you turning pages. I think you will really enjoy this book, I know I did!!

A fantastic continuation of a beloved character of Justice. Corps!

I had binge read all folks in the Justice Corps series and loved every one! CG Cooper has an amazing way of building characters, good and bad. He weaves his stories in a unique fashion that keeps you on the edge of you seat and turning the page to see what's next and you are rewarded with another unexpected. twist!
I was so happy to discover he's also written a series about Daniel, Alan you want to know Moore about.
Of course, I am now binge reading those.

Grammatically better than Book 1 of the series. Daniel and his military friends are the only consistent characters throughout the book. I never landed on a clear understanding of the pastor’s teenage daughter (Anna). She seemed older or younger depending on the needs of the plot. At times she was innocent and inquisitive, at other times wise beyond her years. Overall, I like the series and will likely soldier on to Book 3 (no pun intended).

Begging your pardon...

Because I don't recall if l said this in the previous review, but THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. This comes from an Army Vietnam Veteran, so it isn't just lip service. I volunteered for service overseas and NEVER doubted my decision before, during or after. Maybe I am wrong, but I am reading these stories as your catharsis. Right or wrong, these are great and I can't wait till the next! OURAH DEVIL DOG!

You'll, or You all ( depending where y'all all are from.)

Disgustingly violent

This the second book in the series and I could not finish it. The supposed hero is violent killer. Any likeness to the characters of Mitch Rapp or Jack Reacher is an insult to them. Daniel is a violent merciless killer. The character is deranged. I could never recommend this series.

A Walk in The Woods

Well, a walk in the woods turned out to be a “walk in the dark” for Briggs... In spite of some loose sections here and there that I just couldn’t fit into the story line, this was an exciting book. And, young Anna made an indelible impression on Briggs that I think will end up being his salvation...

Daniel Delivers

I love a story where the bad guys lose. Cooper really knows how to create tension. His characters are realistic and empathetic. So glad to have found this excellent author.

Don't be deceived

It seems no one is what you think they are. Even a Pastor can be deceiving. It seems some of the bad guys are good guys and at least one of the good guys is really a bad guy.
Interesting twists and a surprise ending. A good way to spend time!

Still a Hero

Despite seeming to land in a difficult situation, Daniel seems to rule out failure. I seem to have found small items that are clues to a change in him in this installment. Only time and a few more episodes will tell. Another great read.

Lots of plot twists and turns

Trouble seems to follow Daniel in this book as in the previous. This time around he's trying help out a 15 year girl. The plot twists and turns almost made me dizzy. It's a decent read.

I think Adrift was slightly better but this was still a good tale. It kept me turning the pages so what can I say. It was a little convoluted near the end, but that was Cooper. I only saw one editing error, I wasn’t looking, grass on top of the wall vs glass? 5

Great book

Very good and exciting read. Enough twists and turns so you can't read standing up. Story could be real instead of made up. Beta readers did a great job, or, the author doesn't do typos😁
