Ryan Detrick thrives on the control she has over her life. Her career and business are on track, as is her love life - which isn't much of one. After someone took away her control years ago, she swore she'd never lose it again. When she goes out on the town with her friend in hopes of another one night stand, she hones in on the hot new guy at the bar.

Logan Bennett gave up a life full of bad decisions the moment he learned he was going to be a dad. Years of self-control have put him in a good, if lonely place. His best friend drags him out to loosen him up. Ryan's bold approach throws him off-guard. When he takes her up on a one night stand, both of their best laid plans get thrown on their head when his daughter arrives home early.

Will they choose love? Or will fear of losing control send them running the other way?

Hi! I’m Sarah Cass, author, nurse, mom of three, wife, and caretaker of six spoiled rescue cats. I’ve been writing stories for over 20 years, and they tend to get a little spicy, a little emotional, and a little mysterious—just the way I like them.

My published series include:
• The Dominion Falls Series – spicy historical western mystery/suspense (10 books & counting!)
• Holidays in Lake Point - A sweet small-town standalone romance collection (all set around holidays!)
• The Tribe – a shifter-based urban fantasy/paranormal romance
• And coming soon: Dark Sky Valley, a contemporary western romance set in the present-day version of Dominion Falls!

When I’m not writing or working as a nurse, you’ll find me crocheting, knitting, watching Friends or Star Trek for the millionth time, or plotting my family's next move—hopefully to Colorado!

I've read a few other books in this series so far, and I liked them okay. This one was the best one I've read, in my opinion. I really enjoyed how relate-able these characters were, and how the characters show up repeatedly in this small town drama series. This is book 10 in the series, but they all really can be read as a stand alone.

This book, Free Falling, revolves around Ryan and Logan. Ryan wasn't out to snag a guy, she was looking for a fun night. Logan is a single Dad, that has a sort of dingy past. I loved their connection from the start, and I loved following their journey of learning to lean on someone when things get hard, and seeing how things ended up. It wasn't a typical HEA, and the road to get there wasn't easy, but the story was interesting and intriguing all the way through. I will be adding the rest of the series that I haven't read yet to my TBR.

I'm impressed how easily I was able to relate to Ryan in this novel even though technically I am on the other side of this story. She's worried about getting involved with someone with a child and it VERY admit against from the very beginning. However she can't but help being drawn to Logan. He's a good, nice guy that makes it easy to like him. They seem to have a lot in common. Which includes their stubbornness that is very high! It's a very real relationship with arguments and agreements, that give you a very real sense of family.

Free Falling is my read from Sarah Cass, it was a short and sweet read.

Ryan isn't looking for love, she's looking for one night and no strings. She learned her lesson a long time ago. On a night out at the bar with friends looking for her next one night stand might just change everything.
Being a father has made Logan grow up quick, being a widower has changed everything and he feels it's time to find someone.
This was a short and sweet read and is book 10 from the Holidays at Lake Point series and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading some of the other books to get more familiar with the characters.
It's not your typical HEA, and that's not a bad thing.
I'm definitely putting the other books on my TBR. And look forward to meeting and getting to know The other characters.

This was a short but sweet read.

Written as a multi pov. Ryan is a gal who is out for a quick one night stand, love 'em and leave 'em type. A bad experience when she was younger caused her to close off her heart and refuses to let anyone in. Logan is a man with a 10 year old daughter that even though he had anything that he could want growing up, he turned to a life of drugs. Once his then girlfriend got pregnant, it became a wake up call for Logan that he needed to straighten up his life.

Now many years later, with the help of his best friend, Logan decides it's time to get back into the dating world. Little did he expect to find Ryan. Sparks fly, tempers flair, hearts get broken all in the name of love. This book takes us on a portion of their journey.

To me, this book did not have an HEA. Not sure if there is going to be more to this series with these two characters or what. There was no declaration of love, no proposals, nothing like that. There was a hint of a possible marriage down the road but nothing concrete. The story did end with a positive ending with them being together.

All in all, a good read.

Would I recommend this book? Sure

Would I read more from this author? Most likely

Logan cleaned his act up once he found out he was going to be a Dad, his daughter is his life. Not having dated since her mother died he is out of practice and nervous. Ryan is relationship shy but is happy for a one night stand, or hastle free sex. I loved the descriptions of her wood carving and designs, being the daughter of a carpenter does that. They were so clear I could see them in my mind and smell the wood, nothing better. I liked the families interfering to spur these two on and Sheridan's encouragement as well. Not masses to this story but it is a nice gentle build up to romance, one thing I have enjoyed most about the series as a whole is the characters from other books continue to pop up in the others. You get some continuance of their stories as well, this is a fairly small community so its nice getting to know more of those previous and still to come. Well thought out, not overly long and just enough content for you to get engrossed and enjoy the ride. I am reading straight through the whole series so its nice like reading a really good saga, not having breaks in between means getting to really know the characters and not losing any interest. Very good.

Logan was dedicated to one and only one---his daughter. When his buddy takes him out he meets Ryan. She is self-sufficient and doesn’t really want anything long term. She can’t get him out of her head and neither can he. They bounce back and forth and finally want to make a go at it. Logan thinks she doesn’t like kids but he is very wrong. Ryan and his daughter get along great. This book was great. A lesson in learning to lean on someone and finding love in the process. Excellent writing.

This installment of the Lake Point Series is about Logan and Ryan. Both have been through so much in their lives that they are skeptical about the future neither one willing to take a chance on love. Ryan had to overcome a traumatic experience from her youth and is Leary about falling in love and especially with someone with kids. Logan had to endure a bad situation with the ex-girlfriend and what he had to go through now being a single parent. Will these two be able to overcome the things that haunt them from their past and move forward to a brighter and better future? This was yet another great book written to hold you captive from the very end.

I'm really a fan of the sweet romance sub genre. I thought this book was a great little read. I really want to read all of the other books in this series. I may even start over once I read book one. The characters and situations are likable and relatable and very realistic. I appreciate the author's storytelling because she knows just the right heartstrings to pull.

We find ourselves following Logan as he is at his parent's home. What is he doing there? Why? Who is Sheridan? When his friend Noah drags him out one night, they run into Ryan and Teagen. Teagen is a neighbor of Noah, and Ryan has seen him around. What are the goals of Noah and Teagen that night for their friends? By the end of the second chapter, I was laughing at Logan and Ryan. What had Noah done on that day without telling Logan? What was the consequence of that decision? What happens when Logan's parents show up at his house? Oh my, oh my! When Sheridan and Logan go to the zoo, what does she say to him? Logan can be the biggest idiot around when it comes to Ryan I think. She says 'one' thing, and he takes it to mean something completely different. You could cut the tension with a knife in this book when they keep finding themselves thrown into situations where they run into one another. I think that my favorite part of the book is, "She huffed in frustration and leaned back in her chair. "Adults are stupid."" For this book, and the adults in it, that sentence is so apropos. Of course, this book does end with what sounds like a really fun HEA. Enjoy yet another book of the Holidays in Lake Point series!

Logan and Ryan are not looking for a committed relationship of any kind. Ryan just doesn't do relationships, preferring to retain complete control of her life. Logan to protect his daughter from further heartbreak. Neither count on falling for the other. While Loan falls a little easier, Ryan fights her growing attraction and feelings for him at every turn.

This was a very sweet read and the pulling and pushing between Logan and Ryan pulls you into their story. I was slightly disappointed by the ending but the bonus of a great bunch of characters around Logan and Ryan made up for it.

This is a sweet contemporary romance that is rated PG 13 of finding love for 2 people who have experienced heartache in the past. It was well written and an easy light reading which is perfect for a Sunday curled up with a tea or coffee. The main characters Logan a widower with a 10 yr daughter has devoted his life to her well being and care. He finally decides he needs to find female companionship but is nervous of it affecting his daughter. Ryan is an independent woman who doesn't want love or commitment just a good time on the weekend. She is attracted to Logan but the kid thing throws a wrench in the idea of dating him. This book is strictly romance.
