Dressing the Dragon

Rate this book
Karla’s completely out of her depth, and has no idea how to handle Taurian. Getting clothes to cover his half-naked body is supposed to make her more comfortable—but how comfortable can you really be with an attractive dragon shifter? Especially when you’re both being pursued through the city by his ancient, and deadly, rival.

Taurian could handle his enemy easily—if only his healing sleep hadn’t left him weak and dependent on the human woman. To regain his strength quickly he needs to mate with her, but she resists him at every turn. Convincing her to heal him with her body is vital... and irresistible.

Keeping their hands to themselves is a challenge equal to the ancient one they face, especially since it could solve everything.

Or complicate everything in ways neither could have predicted.

Dressing the Dragon is part 2 (18,000 words) in a new paranormal romance serial set in a small outback town in modern day Australia. Part 1 is available now, and Part 3 is coming soon!

Rinelle Grey

Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)

She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!

They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.

Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.

Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

She loves to receive e-mails at rinelle@rinellegrey.com, or follow her on facebook or twitter.

Taking Taurian to shop for clothing would prove to be a journey Karla would’ve preferred to have done without, but because Taurian was a dragon (who obviously had no need for human clothing in his dragon form), the human shape he had adopted to move freely in Karla’s world needed covering. The Mesmer bond kept them together – Taurian needed Karla to heal; to regain his strength. But Karla was determined to rebuff him in his attempts to mate with her…

The unexpected encounter with Taurian’s deadly enemy, Ultrima while they were away from the safety of Karla’s father’s home was a dreadful shock – his ice cold eyes sent shivers down her spine when Karla realized he’d tracked them down. Then there was another dragon on their trail – Edtrima wouldn’t be easily gotten rid of. Could Taurian and Karla escape the clutches of the rival dragons and make it to safety? Or would Taurian have to fight to the death?

Dressing the Dragon by Aussie author Rinelle Grey is the second in the Dragon Ruins series set in outback Australia. A quick, easy read it is entertaining and very enjoyable. Taurian is a great character; a confused dragon trying to adapt to the ways of humans! Recommended.

Somehow Ms. Grey is making shopping for clothes for a dragon exciting. Or maybe it is the hot pursuit by a dragon enemy. Car chases, fire alarms, zippers on pants all add to the adrenaline. I don't usually go for installments, but this one is still a page turner. Looking forward to part three.

Dressing the Dragon

Karla has no idea what to do about Taurain being half naked. So she decides to take him out shopping for clothes. However, Ultrima finds them and has one of his dragons following them all around town. Meanwhile, Taurain is trying to get Karla to understand he has to complete the mesmer bond ritual for him to get to full strength so he can protect her and her father from the other dragon clan. But neither one of them can tell if it is the attraction of the mesmer bond or some feelings of their own that are adding to the way they are feeling about each other, leaving them both confused. We can only wait and see. This story gets better and better.

I hadn't read the previous book which may be why I failed to get into this one. A man from a past society is walking around a town clad in only a pair of leather trousers, and along with the lady who found him, is being stalked by another man. The lady is trying to buy men's clothing but her friend doesn't understand shops, credit cards, changing rooms, locks... Quite some time is spent dithering around in a café, shop or in a car trying to lose the stalker. That's about it. I gather the unusual man is a shapeshifter but he doesn't do much shifting. Maybe later.

This seems to be a serial story requiring the purchase of several novellas to make any progress in the adventure. (I got this one as a free download.) Some readers will be okay with this concept. I prefer to buy a book.

Love the dragon

O.M.G. What an unexpected fun read. The chemistry between Taurian and Karla grows with each passing hour. I really enjoyed the humor juxtaposed with the suspense and chase. I couldn't put it down. And, I'm anxiously waiting to read the rest of the series. A must read to add to your collection.

Romantic short

I found this to be a cute romantic short story. The storyline grabs your interest enough to follow the series to the next book. The characters have chemistry and are quite funny. It a great short read.

Enjoyable

Karla and Taurian are on the run. How long can they avoid those following them? How long can they fight their emotions? Will they be successful? So many questions.

Definitely not a stand-alone novella- you must read the first before starting this one.
