This would have been a 4 star if not for something the heroine did at 70% which lost it a star. It was still good. She was not a hated heroine like in the last book. She had a reason to be desperate to return to Earth that I totally understood. The Hero was just awesome. So sweet, caring, and selfless.

I don't want to give away the plot, but the last 15-20% were so sweet!

4 1/2 stars, this is one of a few series and authors that I track very closely to see when any books or info comes out, she is also an author who if she writes it I will read it. When I first got back into read I fell in love with PR then when I had read all I could find(well almost) in this genre I moved to others but PR has always held a special place in my life. Unfortunately for me I have had a hard time finding paranormal romance books that I love. When I found this series it brought back all the feelings I had when I first fell in love with this genre so I knew after this book and the previous books in this series this would be a series I couldn't let go.

When I heard about book 3 I was so excited and couldn't wait to read it. This was the perfect vacation read, while it wasn't what I thought it would be(take that as me being too excited to even read the book description lol)it was a great book that shows the progression of this new world Ms. Danes has created. While I love the kidnap heroine, she is shocked there are aliens, fall in love storyline and I really, really do * on that note I hope we get more of those because I love them so much*. I also loved that she is showing us what is happening as the aliens and humans lives continue as well as the conflicts and different scenarios that happen. This story has its own storyline that is new to this series and one that is showing Willow Danes range not only in storyline but in characters as well.

Summer was taken and like the other woman before her isn't happy the only difference is, is that she still isn't happy and she doesn't love or like her soon to be mate. Add his father in the mix and a secret she has and the only thing on Summer's mind is getting home not only to get away from her future family but to get back. Seeing the only chance she has Summer escapes. While on the run Summer runs into Ke'lar who helps her stay hidden. Though Summer hates all the people of Hir the more time she spends with Ke'lar the easier it is to see him as a real person and not a member of a evil kidnapping race.

Ke'lar never expected to run into a human woman but when she tells him about her future mate and family Ke'lar finds himself wanting to help the beautiful human woman. Kevlar like all men of Hir want nothing more than to have a mate but Kevlar has finally come to accept that he will never have a mate of his own to love, when Summer is thrust into his world, and Kevlar finds himself imaging more. The more time they spend together the more Ke'lar wants Summer. When they both give in to their feelings the real world comes crashing around them, both Ke'lar's and Summer's and both of them begin to question the new found love they never expected or dreamed of finding.

I really liked this one. Willow Danes is an author I know I can count on for a sure win in the book department. Ke'lar was a great hero who was easy to love, he was possessive and jealous of anyone who wants Summer and the new situations they were put in made all new issues and problems for them we haven't scene before. But Ke'lar is also so sweet and caring at the same time in this book. Summer had her mind made up, she was determined and set in her path while reading at first she could come off as stubborn(which she is) but when you read the reason it all makes sense and her decision and reasons are justified and commended. I can't wait for book 4, and I can't wait to see who book 4 is about as well as what story Ms. Danes will come up.

*thank you Ms. Danes for a copy of this book for my review.

I like Willow Danes' writing style, enjoy her characters, and am intrigued by the world she has created. All of these things were fine in this third book, too, but this time my expectations were a little higher and the Hir story has stagnated. The Scourge atrocity that killed all the females on Hir has long passed and the anti-human faction barely made an appearance, so that left this book with no antagonist for the larger scope of the series. Only the romantic conflict sustained the story, and for the third book of a longer series, this just doesn't suffice.

I once complimented SFR author Christine Pope in a review on her Gaian Consortium series because each new book forwarded the story arc of the universe she created, with no cookie-cutter couples. The same could be said about Cara Bristol's Breeder trilogy, Nina Croft's Blood Hunter series, Aubrie Dionne's Paradise Reclaimed books, Kiersten Fay's Shadow Quest stories or Rinelle Grey's Barren Planet saga. Another favorite author who builds a fascinating society facing tumultuous change is Ariel MacArran in her Tellaran books. Imagine my surprise to discover that MacArran's alter ego is Willow Danes. She writes SFR under two names, and though both are well done it is clear that the Hir stories are intended for quick romantic consumption without the drama and conflict typical in more developed space opera. The Hir books would be so much better if just a slice of epic story slipped into the narrative.

Summer has been kidnapped from Earth by a Hir warrior, but she fights fiercely against the captivity. She is frantic to get home, and Ke'lar decides to assist regardless of his own attraction to Summer and what it means for his own happiness. This couple has some friction right away, but they are also a little comedic. Due to her headlong run into the Hir wilderness, Summer is covered in mud and stinks of decomposing organic matter. Ke'lar tells her "You may wash in the river. In fact," he grumbled, heading that way, "if you are to spend any more time with me, I insist." The grousing back and forth lends levity to the story. However, Ke'lar is similar to the other Hir warriors we've come to know and lets his alpha mannerisms escape now and again.

So far this has been my favorite book of this series. Makes me want to pull a re-read.
Summer was a very enjoyable heroine mainly because of her strength, will & circumstances. That and she was neither a country hick nor a city snob like the previous two heroines.
She did do a few half-cocked things, but didn't earn the TSTL title.

Really liked the hero. Risks his entire clan going to war to help Summer return to Earth. (And he loved his animal, always a plus) He always put her needs before his own which was so nice to see in a hero these days.

Semi-steamy sex scenes, HEA

thought about DNFing at 30% but kept on til 60%. Find I don't care how it ends anymore.
Summer and K'lar. I loved the way this one started out. Summer is already captured, but she doesn't like him, or his people or his stinking planet. She's pissed and she's leaving!
She escapes and runs into K'lar who helps her get away to his own compound. It's about that point where I just couldn't take it anymore. I did not like Summer. In fact, I haven't really like any of the heroines in this series. I always find them on the whiny abrasive side. They are prejudiced and narrow minded and self centered. Summer is the worst so far. When I finally learn her secret of why she needs to get back to Earth, well it still didn't change my opinion of her. But mostly I DNFed because the author is so manipulative of the facts just to force the story to go a certain way. It just pissed me off, and I thought the logic behind the choices being made was so obviously flawed, that I was too annoyed to read/listen further. I also disliked that the aliens continue to be unforthcoming with the women they capture, leaving them in the dark. If I had had it in book format I might have just skimmed ahead to finish. Who know, I may finish it some other time when I get over my peak...
The readers are great!. Adam Mclaughlin does the parts from K'lar's POV and Kathryn LaPlant does Summer's POV. There are some added sound effects too but they aren't distracting.

Good Science Fiction Romance

I have actually found a good science fiction romance writer in Willow Danes/Ariel MacArran. The Warriors of Hir books are breeder type science fiction. The Hir warriors are males and their female population has been ravaged by a plague developed by their adversary. The Hir society despite being advanced technologically is feudal in it's clan make up, in this warrior society.
What sets Dane apart from other authors in this genre is that she writes a real connection between the romance couples, in this book it is Ke'lar and Summer. She also doesn't try too hard to convince the reader of the difference of the species by telling about them, she lets the reader experience them during the story.
Also each story so far in this series has been unique to each of the couples; and it this latest book the Hir customs were more deeply explored.

Overall: Summer is escaping the Betari clan hall and is headed to the city so that she can get back home to Earth. After having an encounter with an insect in the woods she stumbles upon a G'Hir warrior and before they can get to know each other, he helps hid her from her intended mate. After Summer explains to Ke'lar why she wants to go to the city, he agrees to take her to his clanhall so his father can help her. Along the journey they get really close with each other and Summer's view changes about how she feels towards the G'Hir. In the end, after an escape to Earth and back Summer and Ke'lar get their HEA.

I don't know why I really enjoy this series, but I do. The premise should be enough to turn anyone off the books. Through a series of events Ra'kur crashes on Earth and discovers an abundant species that can reproduce with the Hir. Instead of peacefully asking for help, his home planet decides to start kidnapping women.

Now this should all be okay, because after one moon cycle, the human female can choose to return home. Only her memory well be erased, and she will have no explanation for the month of memories that are missing.

Despite the crazy premise, I really do love this series. And this is my favorite installment so far. I know, I have issues.

But in this one, Summer is kidnapped and then held hostage by her new mate. Summer is so desperate to return to Earth she escapes. Wandering the forests of a foreign planet should spell disaster for Summer; but as luck would have it, she stumbles across the adorable Ke'lar.

Ke'lar is the younger brother of Ra'kur, and had his heart broken in the first installment when he learned he would not be permitted to fight for a chance to kidnap a human. Like I said, I have issues. That should not have broken my heart, but at the time he did. I'm so happy to have a book that focuses on him.

It was refreshing to have a book where the female main character did not in instalust. In fact, she hated the Hir for a large portion of the book.

I really hope there will be another installment.

This series is about aliens looking for human women to hunt and take back to their world for mates. There are close to no females on their planet from a war and plague of shorts killing off most of the women. I guess it's a guilty pleasure with it being aliens looking for woman and all that crazy stuff, but I don't care I love this series. I can't wait for the fourth.

***also I see some people quit on this one part way through b/c they don't like the h. She does some annoying things, but has a very good reason, and is doing what she believes is best, you just have to hold out for it. If you want to know what it is here you go

This book is such a guilty pleasure but I loved it! I'm not going to lie my new thing is alien romance novels which sounds pretty crazy. This story is of course sappy but the author did a good job creating a somewhat believable scenario and a good job of world building.

I can't wait for more books by this author.

It took me a month to finish this book because I put it down at 40%.

My biggest problem wasn't the plot, which was good by the way, but the portrayal of character.
It wasn't until 60% of the book that the author decided to reveal the reason that the main character was so determined to get back to Earth. Until that moment, the main character felt really flat. I know that the author thought that by withholding information she was creating tension, but in reality she was just manifesting frustration and boredom because I'd no idea why I should care. It was the reason that it took me so long to finish this book. Then, because it really annoyed me to have an unfinished book sitting on my eReader, I decided to finish the book once and for all (a month later). Not for curiosity but just because it grated on my sensibilities to leave things unfinished.

It's not that I can't sympathize with the main character for wanting to return to Earth, after being kidnapped and held hostage on an alien planet, but I want to get to know the character. I want to know why it is very important to this character to get home. I only began to care once the author revealed that information and not before.

A message to any author is reading this: don't withhold any information that would make us care about your the character. That's not creating suspense; it's just creating frustration.

I wish the author hadn't made this mistake. More effort could have gone into developing the story further and I would have enjoyed it more.

I am such a happy reader right now. I couldn't wait to read this book, the third book in the Warriors of Hir series by Willow Danes. This is an absolute must read, along with the first two books in the series. You could probably read out of order but I wouldn't, things are explained in the first two, that aren't covered as much in this one! Ms. Danes' writing is magical. She is able to express her characters thoughts and feelings so that her readers are able to empathize to such a degree that you find yourself laughing, loving or hurting along with her characters. She does just enough world building that you can see it in your mind but not so much that you get bored. This is Ke'lar and Summers story. She's a strong, determined woman who has unfinished business on earth so she's pretty upset that she was captured. The book starts off with a BANG describing the lengths Summer will go thru in order to escape and keeps you reading until the end. Oh and did I mention just how hot and sexy these warriors are besides being honorable? Definitely have the fan ready, your gonna need it! Now you can imagine the happy dance I did when Ms. Danes asked if I wanted the book in exchange for an honest review! You bet Ms. Danes, anytime. Now get busy writing the next one! Lol, I can't wait, this is turning out to be one of my favorite series.

The third book in the Warriors of Hir series by Willow Danes. Summer Mills is kidnapped from planet earth and is now expected to mate with an alien warrior. Determined not to submit to the aliens' plans she runs. She ends up on Erah land and meets Ke'lar, the brother of Ra'kur (Captured). She persuades him to help her escape and so they journey together.

In this book Summer was kidnapped by an alien and escapes him only to find love with another alien being. But are they aliens if they are on the alien's planet? I mean, I guess she is the alien here. LOL. I enjoyed this one in the series too and look forward to more additions in the series.

This is a good addition to the series.
An interesting twist to the Hir warrior code when a woman really doesn't want to be kept by the warrior who 'stole' her and a warrior who uses the custom to his advantage.
There are some extra things added and we catch up with the original couple from book 1 as there are connections to Kelar.
Kelar is sweet, he tries to defend Summer but also is driven by his culture.

Good. I was hesitant at first to read this from what other people have said but I enjoyed this much more than I thort I would. The only thing that I had a little problem with was that I thought she could have had more self control when it came to the attraction stuff but apart from that it was a good book. :)

The pacing felt a little weird for the last 30%, which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars.

I really liked both Summer and K’lar. Overall, it was light-hearted and sweet like the rest of the series. I was initially worried that the same tropes would get used over and over, so it was nice to have this one mix it up.

Stolen is the most recent installment in the Warriors of Hir series by Willow Danes. It is my favorite of the series, as it really deals with the clash of Hir and Earth cultures.

The premise of the Warriors of Hir series is that the enemies of the Hir have unleashed a plague on the Hir population that has killed off most of the females of the world. Their population faces extinction unless they can find a race with females that are biologically compatible.

As it turns out, Earth is a planet that is full of compatible females. In Stolen, Earth woman Summer has been abducted by a Hir warrior, otherwise know as a g’hir. Unlike previous abductees in books 1 and 2 of this series, Summer has not warmed up to her captor. She will do anything and everything to get back to Earth. When Summer escapes from Ar’ar, the g’hir that thinks she is his mate, Summer runs smack into Ke’lar. Ke’lar tries to help Summer, but his idea of help does not always align with what Summer thinks help is. The ensuing adventure is dangerous, fun, sexy, heartbreaking and heartwarming. I don’t mind saying, as I was reading, in a couple passages tears were welling. A little.

The concept of an alien race needing Earth women to save their people is not unique in Sci Fi Romance. I would compare Warriors of Hir to Angela Castle’s Warriors of Kelon series, and Evangeline Anderson’s Brides of the Kindred series. The fact that it is not unique is a testament to the popularity of such a story.

In truth, I’ve enjoyed all three books in this series: Captured, Taken and Stolen. What I like about these books is how effectively the author deals with an alien culture. She sets the scene on the planet of Hir with descriptions of technology, geography, food, dress, animals and even other alien species. Language is not assumed to be universal and is dealt with. But mostly, cultural differences are evident and provide a framework for the plot of Stolen and for the entire series. At this point the cultural education is pretty one-sided. The Earth women end up adapting to the Hir culture. If you ask me, the g’hir warriors need a serious lesson on Earth culture. And if you are wondering what I am referring to, consider the titles of these books. They refer to a Hir courting ritual. These cultural differences often add a slice of humor to the story, especially when it comes to language.

Any one of the books in the series can be enjoyed as a standalone.

One thing I noticed was the amount of cursing Summer did. Ke'lar barely understood what she was saying, even with the implant, so I wondered if he really knew what she saying half the time. Hir culture is pretty stifling for females-humans especially- and Summer is able to make her escapes pretty easily, with Ke'lar's help, of course.Where are the female hir? Summer sees Jenna so comfortable and thinks she's a little crazy for accepting their way of life, but once reunited with Emma everything ends as it should.
