Hannah Lynne's heart is on the market. She just hopes Ezra's is the highest bid.Every week, Hannah Lynne brings her home-churned butter to the local market. And every week Ezra stops by to purchase some. Hannah Lynne knows not to read too much into it--Ezra is a confirmed bachelor and barely even glances her way, despite any hope to the contrary. But when Ezra bids an exorbitant amount to win the quilt she had her heart set on, Hannah Lynne can't stop her heart from taking over her mind. Could Ezra finally be in the market for love?
This novella was just cute! Just the sheer awkwardness of some of the interactions... I kind of loved it for that. So far, that dynamic has seemed the most real of the interactions between characters.
Another cute story in the Amish Market series. I have not read this author before but I would pick up another book by her. This one was very short but sweet. I much prefer novels to these novellas but it was good and didn’t leave a bunch of unanswered questions like a lot of novellas do. I would recommend it to those looking for a quick and easy read.
A Bid For Love : An Amish Market Novella By: Kathleen Fuller
I love this novella by Kathleen Fuller. Her story and characters both are easy to follow. Ezra is single, and a very kind man of 27. He cannot seem to stop buying butter from Hannah at the market. An old quilt is put up for bid at the auction and once Hannah sees it , she cannot get over it. Who made this quilt? This is a heartwarming story around Ezra, Hannah , and the quilt. Will this quilt bring them closer or will it send them further apart?
Kathleen Fuller writes some of the best scenes in Amish fiction and there was one such scene in this novella which I loved! It's worth the read for that scene alone. (It involves a mouse.) This was a quick read which I finished in one evening. I wasn't a huge fan of how the two main characters were interested in each other just from seeing/observing each other, but it was still a cute story. If you like Amish fiction, I recommend this novella.
This is a book contained in An Amish Market. Hannah Lynne works hard selling her butter. Ezra likes buying from her. At an auction, Hannah Lynne longs to buy a quilt that strikes her fancy. Ezra sees this and buys it from the winner of the auction. Could love be in the works?
This is one of my favorites. What do you do when the girl you’re attracted to makes and sells butter? Well, you fill every fridge, freezer, and cooler available! I’ll leave it at that. Much more and I’ll tell you the whole story!
This a story of young confessing love. Then there's all that butter. I found the characters to be life like. The girl having all the insecurities of young love. He on the other hand wasn't noticing her. Confusing, hurt promise are all part of this story.
An Amish Market consists of 4 novellas under this one book and their storyline has a part or association with the working lives of their respective Amish communities, while focusing on the love story of the main couple. Each novella have its own charm and sweetness that ranges from young love to burnt love to love in time. I find them aptly chosen in compilation for this collection because they are so different, yet so similar in the theme of finding love in unexpected ways. The authors, Amy Clipston, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin and Vannetta Chapman are all popular authors of Amish stories, and if you've never read any of their works, you'll know why you must after reading their respective stories in An Amish Market. Even each of the novella's title was well selected. You'll understand once you read the story, and appreciate how thoughtful these authors are, down to the last detail, including the title selection.
A Bid for Love by Kathleen Fuller have one phrase in mind and enough to make one want to read - divine planning. Only with God's plans can a simple quilt bring two people together without having spoken much in the first place.
"Being in love makes every morning worth getting up for." (Loc 1828)
In all, a collection not to miss of any Amish fiction fans. An Amish Market have love, a message and some amazing and sometimes quirky characters for you to enjoy. Definitely a must read (and most likely you'll want to in one sitting, and maybe go back for more.)

In the Amish communities when you reach mid 20's man men consider themselves to old for "courting". When you are an Amish Maedel and only 20 years old you consider yourself as becoming an old maedel and a man 25 is to old and courting him is out of the question. Hannah Lynne has a hard time seeing what is right in front of her, with the casual friendship and steady customer at her booth, Ezra Yutsy. Hannah knows that he does not date but her heart keeps trying to speak to her. Then the unthinkable happens Ezra outbids her on a quilt that she desperately wants for her own, surprisingly Ezra gives her the quilt. The trials and test that happen following this wonderful gift will keep you reading to see if a quilt can really keep the hearts on fire. Thank you Kathleen for this fun to read story.
This story immediately caught my attention. Quilts, auctions, and local markets are some of the things that warm me from the inside out. This story reconnected me to an earlier time in my life. Ms Fuller’s writing style has a way of drawing me into the pages of her stories and making me feel like I am part of the story. Mulling about, interacting with her characters, traveling to the very places they go—she makes me feel present within her words. I enjoyed this story immensely! I loved how one single item within the story could mean so much to so many people, bonding them together in a beautiful ending.
Hannah Lynne has had a crush on Ezra for years; Ezra has known Hannah Lynne all his life. But for some reason,, he now finds himself thinking about her more often, how can this be, since he considers her a friend? Will a quilt, given for auction by mistake change the course of their lives? A short read.
