Jenny Cockell has always had memories of living before. In her first book, 'Yesterday's Children', she described her search for the past life family which had haunted her from her earliest childhood. She remembered living as Mary Sutton, an Irishwoman who had died over 20 years before she was born. She gave an extraordinary account of how she successfully found Mary's surviving children, and was reunited with them in the present.
Her new book, 'Journeys Through Time', brings readers up to date with her story. Jenny gives details of the four past lives that she remembers most clearly and explains how she has tried to trace them all. In particular, she remembers a life in Japan, which she has desperately sought to verify and uncover. Beginning with flashes of memories that she experienced in childhood, Jenny describes how she 'found' Mary and her children, her subsequent researches into her Japanese life, and what it all means. It is a page-turning account of one woman's journey to find the lives she lived before.
Not only an interesting read of a woman clearly and almost scientifically remembered her past lives, as she went on the journeys of research, through countries, and times, to find out how her memories had led her, but also the book describes, using hypnosis, the experiences of past life memory recall.
Many books have been written about past life experiences through the methods of hypnosis. However, not many of them are from the experiencer’s perspective. Being in a hypnotic state is very different from a normal waking state, therefore it’s not easy to describe the experience from another state. Yet Jenny has done a phenomenon job describing it. Throughout the book, candidly and honestly, she mentions and refers to her hypnosis experience, and chapter 3 is completely dedicated to it.
It’s an interesting book, but once you accept that we have many lives, and you accept Jenny’s past lives, the book seems a tad dull. I mean it’s just telling you mundane information from someone’s life. I felt sorry for Jenny, as she was haunted so regularly from her experiences from her past lives.
The author has compeling details that help her link her past live memories to actual events. Oberall a good read. Sometimes the description were too lenghty and i skipped them.
The very quality that makes it clear that JC believes in her past lives is what makes the book rather dull - it's inconclusive and stuff happens - just like life. Interesting if you are researching the subject but not a good read. She also explores future lives, which is a great concept.
