I'm not exactly a research enthusiast, especially when it comes to business research, but I have to say that this book puts it to you in a straightforward and clear manner. It's easy to understand and it explains the concepts and the concerns behind the individual research methodologies in clear details.
Awesome tool to guide you through your thesis or dissertation whether in business or management (in my case - Human Resource Management). Although all topics were clearly addressed, I mostly enjoyed the sections on topics that are rarely addressed in class in much detail e.g. Research Philosophy, Research Paradigm.
Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill have written a very clearly structured, comprehensive guidebook for completing an undergraduate or graduate thesis. The book is very helpful for students who have little or no previous research experience but would like to aim for a high thesis grade!
I can't believe I read this textbook in its entirety. But I did.....mostly. Some parts I found mind-boggling, but overall a very good book for research students and those undertaking thesis/dissertations.
I have been absent from writing reviews for a while and one of the many reasons is that I was working on my MPhil/PhD research proposal. It was a stressful phase in my life and this book has been instrumental in helping me write my proposal especially in terms of methodology and approach. Overall it is a very useful book to have and I am still using it as a guide and reference for my thesis and I believe I will use it for future research projects as well. Marketing is my field of research and it is definitely very helpful for me but I believe it will be useful for any other business student writing a thesis or any individual trying to conduct a good market research.
I used this book the other way around, to analyze research essays on their methodological assumptions, choices and validity. Although this results in a less systematic use of the book, it proved to be quite useful and comprehensive in my quest to these answers. I will probably be using it in the near future again to write more dissertations and papers which, with this recent experience in mind, won't be a problem!
This is an excellent book all students writing a dissertation report must have. It captures dissertation writing from A-Z in a clear and very accessible way, with great examples to support the theories.
