I'm going through the books from CE that I haven't read yet. I enjoyed this one. This is one of the oldies but still good.

~Celibate hero for years. (Nothing is really mention of the hero's past sexual life, only that he hasn't touched a woman in years.)
~Virgin heroine. It didn't bother me as long as the heroine doesn't become a mumbling wet mess.
~Safe.
~No OW drama.

I would love to see or read at least in one of this author's book that the couple has kids. I love me some babies in books, I know we always get HEA in her books but sometimes I need more. Maybe one day?

I'm reminded again why I adore Cynthia Eden.. I first discovered her as an author in the Everlasting Bad Boys anthology with her short story, Spellbound, and immediately fell in love with her writing style.

The Vampire's Kiss is no exception. It had the "fated mates" vibe without the absolute sense of unavoidable destiny, which was refreshing, and I loved the little twist as to why Savannah's mind was different than all the other humans that William had experience with. The romance was hot without being overwhelming to the story, and I really enjoyed the parts where William helped to teach Savannah all the new vampy things she needed to know after her transformation.

Even though I figured out the last twist in the book right when it was first presented, it was still a good one and IMHO definitely added to the HEA.

I was really hoping for a sequel for a certain character that really deserves a HEA, but from my understanding there hasn't been one nor is there one in the works. Boo hiss.

Strong characters, an action-driven plot that keeps you on your toes, and plenty of twists to keep your interest earned this one a solid 4 1/2 Stars.

Imagine, yes, this young girl who had a sibling murdered by a vampire, and this same girl had spent almost a whole decade in a hospital fighting to survive — when there’s not even a small light at the end, and a diary of a vampire to pass the time — one also holding the only answer she can find to what she’s been through. Intense, right?

To get what she wants, however, she needs a vampire — and a very hot secretive vampire, for that matter—, and SURE, blackmail him into turning her. Ha! Smart move, yes? I’m wondering if I’m giving away the plot, completely… I have read this book three times in Portuguese, and once in English. And the last two paragraphs came by HEART. But the details are much blurry, and, indeed, you might enjoy the story.

The human turned vampire will have to learn how to grasp her new life, accepting a few straight facts, fighting for her murdered brother, fighting for the man/vampire she ended up giving her heart to… and, as much as a happy ending she deserves.

You might enjoy or not this story — depends on you.

2017 = read with skimming
2023 = DNF'd / wrote a review

A basic & forgettable vampire romance,
written in a 🙄 melodramatic style.

Savannah is dying from her second brain tumor, with only months left. She takes pills to manage the pain and has some weakness, but is otherwise fine.

Selfless Savannah wants to become a vampire to avenge her twin brother, who was brutally murdered. Her tumor gave her a unique connection to Mark. She read his thoughts, shared his dreams, and felt his pain when he died. Now, she wants to find the vampire responsible and stop him from hurting others.

Savannah begs William to bite her three times and share his blood. He refuses, but is swayed bc she's determined, special, and attractive. He'll do it on one condition: she will be his forever—his mate and lover. After she agrees, William says they have to wait until she's strong enough to survive the change.

Even though she's close to dying.

🙄 Savannah is attractive, but doesn't know it. Her hair is too red, thick and curly. Her body is small, slender and delicate.

Later at the bar -
She wore a short black skirt that fell to mid-thigh. Her glorious legs immediately captured his attention. They were long and slender. Delicately muscled. Her matching top dipped daringly low, revealing more than a hint of her cleavage. Her firm breasts pressed enticingly against her shirt's front, and he realized that he could see her nipples.
Every muscle in his body tightened.
Strained. Hungered.
He hated the way the other men stared at her. He hated their lust-filled gazes.

She's clearly a dying woman who's thin and frail.

❄️𝐒υρ𝖾𝗋 𝐒ρ𝖾𝖼𝗂αᥣ 𝐒α𝗏α𐓣𐓣αɦ❄️
She was the first thing that he'd wanted, that he'd needed, in over one thousand years. And he didn't want to let her go.

"If you stay, I'll take you. I need you like I've never needed anyone else in all my years of existence. I hunger for you. For your blood. For your body. For your very life."

"I want to drink from you, to taste the sweet nectar of your blood. I want to bury myself in you, to lock you to me," he growled.
"I want you, as I've never wanted another."

Turns out, the evil villain is . He's been feeding on innocents for centuries. William has been tracking him for a long time, but he's apparently too inept to stop him.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳:
🙄 Savannah has a strong appetite for food and sex.
🙄 She flips a guy, showing off her black belt talent.
🙄 She hears that Mary, her BFF, was seriously injured and leaves without telling William. No surprise, it's a trap set by the villain. Savannah tries to fight and gets her butt kicked. Even though she's even weaker than before, William saves her and transforms her into a vampire. Somehow she survives. 🤷‍♀️

The not-so-funny thing is, William blamed himself for his brother’s death bc he waited too long to transform him. The dummy learned nothing! 😬

I liked it a lot, really enjoyed the plot...was a bit slow in the middle, but the suspense was good (Cynthia Eden always does a great job with her Romantic Suspenses)
The ending had a bit of an unexpected turn, which was cool.
A short read, although it's a full-length book.

Savannah wants to become a vampire to avenge her twin brother's death. She blackmails a vampire named William to turn her, but he...refuses.

Meanwhile she's dying of a brain tumor and there's a PI who says that he was hired by a man who's brother was killed too. By the same vampire.

Can Savannah convince William to give her the "kiss" of immortality? And can they defeat the man who killed her brother?

Gosh. I had to stop this read. I got to like page 20 and it was so boring. I can't explain it but it's missing something...that spark that a good book needs. I was debating whether I should continue reading it but after reading other reviews I realized that I better not. I'm just glad that's over...I'll go read something worth my time. I don't know what, but this book was missing something.

Usually I love Cynthia Eden's books, but sadly I nodded off while reading this one. It was missing the fun spark that's in her other books; no humor. And I wasn't a fan of the mythos for the vampires - their eyes glow red, & the rest is the same as Christine Feehan's Carpathian series - shape shifting, turning to mist, telepathic, telekinetic, 3 bites + blood exchange to convert a person.

Started off good.....vampire book. Girl's twin brother murdered by a vampire, so she seeks one out and asks him to transform her so she can go after her brother's killer. I got about halfway, and decided I just wasn't into it. I think I wanted more vampire 'community' action instead of William being a lonely brooding vampire who lived by himself. I guess they can't all have extended families like BDB! :-)

Great book.

I loved this book and was hooked from page one. Loved how quickly William falls for Savannah. Loved when he says “You’re the only one for me,Savannah. Now and forever”. He agrees to making her a vampire and will help her get her revenge. I really loved them together and happy they got their happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.

An older book by this author with interesting characters and story line. The prose aren't great, but they aren't terrible. I needed something mindless for an airplane ride and this worked fine.

A collection of the most annoying vampire tropes (instalust, alpha-hole hero) along with some others thrown in for good measure (six months to live). Sigh. Moving on.

Savannah wants one thing: revenge. Revenge for the murder of her brother and sister-in-law caused by a vampire. In order to have this revenge, she needs the help of a vampire who can give her the vampire's kiss: William. William has been alone for centuries, and has never trusted anyone since the death of his brother Henry. He wanted Savannah ever since he first set eyes on her standing in front of his home. He makes a bargain with Savannah: He will help her get the justice she needs, the revenge for her brother's death, but in return he wants one thing: her. He wants her to be by his side forever, as his mate.

SPOILERS:NOTES:
The killer of Savannah's brother is :

Geoffrey de Montfort. William's half-brother.

Geoffrey is William's half brother. Henry was William's nice, caring brother who died awhile back, and ever since then Geoffrey has been killing many people. Now his focus is on Savannah, who recently became William's lifelong partner.
