He was elected senator for Saunders County in 1880. During the same year he was hon ored as delegate to the General Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, held at Cincinnati. He moved to Crete, Nebraska, in 1888, where, as an enterprising leader in the milling business, he prospered and became a blessing to the city and State. After a brief illness, he died September 20, 1895, just as he had come to the riper years of full maturity.
