Read the exciting conclusion to Cora: The Unwilling Queen
What if the ancient story of Persephone and Hades wasn’t just a myth?
Once an untroubled teenager living in San Francisco, Cora Dell is now bound to the underworld for six months of every year. She has agreed to be queen to the dark and forbidding king, but it was not a decision made lightly – she did it to save the life of Søren, the boy she loves, the boy who risked his own life to save her from the king’s cruel punishment when she defied him.
But Søren is still in danger. At first, Cora’s only thoughts are of his rescue, but soon new dangers arise that Cora must face. With the fate of two worlds in her hands, Cora must find the courage to ask herself what she is willing to sacrifice in order to save those she cares about.
Amy Hutchinson likes to think of herself as a Renaissance woman because that sounds flattering. Others may accuse her of lacking focus and the ability to choose one profession. Some of her passions include: reading, writing, traveling, teaching, painting, woodworking, kung fu, boxing and scuba diving. She also loves science and is considering a PhD in one of the biological sciences, but that is only after she finishes writing all the novels she has planned, which could take several years.
Right now, Amy Hutchinson is a traveler and a writer, but not a travel writer. She teaches 4th grade to adorable children in Shanghai, China, and she would say that her Mandarin is pretty good, but her students would disagree.
This wasn't quite as good as the first book which I'm sad about.
A lot of time was spent on thinking about Søren, or trying to rescue Søren and not enough on Cora actually being a queen. In that way it feels incomplete.
I also wish the war was more elaborated on. We saw the King come and go, heard some things here and there, but we barely got to see any of the action.
I think this should've been a trilogy. In book three we could've seen Cora grow into a queen and the Underworld change under her leadership. Hopefully that will happen some day in the future.
I totally adored it. I was disappointed though because it ended but hopefully I will find more good books to read. Any way I wasn't disappointed at all it was well written and I liked the ending a lot.
First things first I won this book in a giveaway here on good reads. This was a quick read. I've been busy or sick so I haven't had the time to actually start it but I finished it in the few hours I had today before bed. It was better than the first book I suppose. I'm a big fan of the story of Hades and Persephone so that's what drew me to this series in the first place. It didn't meet my expectations but it wasn't a bad read. Good for if you've got 2-3+ hours of time to kill. They were short books but predictable. (That could just be because I read a lot though.) I'm glad there was a somewhat happy ending but I'd like there to be more to the series. Even a spin-off would be nice. I mean you only really get to see new sides to characters in the last chapters and I don't know I kinda just wish there was more. The two books felt a bit rushed. I enjoyed them though. I'll have to buy the first book online at some point so I have a physical copy of both. I'm a little OCD about having all the books in a series if I own one. Welp nighty night it's almost 4AM this book and review kept me up longer than expected waiting for my NyQuil to kick in. ;D
