Honestly this was going to get three stars until it picked up in the middle. The first hundred or so pages I was just waiting for them to get back together and also I don’t care about mafia politics BUT when they finally reunited I was pretty much in. I love Imogen and Lincoln and how sweet they are. Imogen was still kind of stupid at times but she definitely grew and I was really rooting for her by the end. The twists were great and this was the perfect duology. I loved every second.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Sadie Kincaid has done it again with another banger of a book!!!

I loved everything about this, the plot was everything, the plots were twisting leaving me gagged. The tension between Linc and Imogen was chef’s kiss 💋 I love them but they were getting on my nerves letting their pride get in the way of them forgiving each other. And I loved how Linc let her go so she can choose him of her own free will, that man is perfection.

I will say I’m glad this book happened because I honestly thought there shouldn’t have been a book two and that their story should’ve been wrapped up in book one but I’m glad I was proven wrong.

I’m a forever Sadie Kincaid stan, she can’t write a bad book 🤷🏾‍♀️

Ok, first of all, I love Killian and Pierre. Their characters really made the series top notch.

The book was great and would have been a 5 star read for me, but I did take off a half star in my rating due to the absence of a trigger I was not aware of. Because of past trauma, I always research books the best I can to find out if there is cheating among main characters, and everything I found said there wasn’t. I guess my idea of cheating and the internet’s differ, because one of the main characters willingly kisses multiple people. To me, kissing someone other than the person you are committed to and breaking their heart is absolutely cheating. I would have liked the option of skipping that part to avoid the physical reaction I get in these situations, so if you have a similar trauma response, consider this your head’s up. (Chapters 28,29,62)

Also, the end of the story was good, but I have to admit, it wasn’t quite the ending I’d hoped for. Still got a HEA out of it, so I’ll take it. lol

Everything I loved about the characters in book one was thrown out of the window for book two. Instead of character growth the FMC went from being genuine and lovely to became a brat and the plot was lost on the emotional side of the romance. I’m a fan of smut, don’t get me wrong. But what was emotionally heavy and beautiful in book one turned into petty fighting, miscommunication, and spice for the sake of spice in book two. I liked the story wrap up in and of itself, but overall I’m disappointed.

SADIE KINCAID, THE WOMAN THAT YOU ARE!!! I swear, this woman could write just about anything and I’d eat it up, but when she’s in her dark mafia romance bag? UNTOUCHABLE.

I was already completely invested in Imogen and Lincoln after the first book, but THIS? The emotional turmoil, the secrets, the betrayals, the obsession, the tension! Sadie had me questioning everyone’s motives and hanging onto every single revelation.

What I loved most was Imogen’s growth. Watching her go from someone who had been sheltered and manipulated for so much of her life to a woman determined to uncover the truth and make her own decisions was EVERYTHING. And Lincoln? That beautifully tortured, morally gray man had me in a chokehold. His devotion, his vulnerability beneath all those layers, and the way these two challenged each other emotionally made their relationship so much more than just their undeniable chemistry.

And can we talk about the storytelling?! The way Sadie weaves together suspense, family secrets, betrayal, and romance is so incredibly addictive. I loved that the emotional stakes were just as intense as the danger surrounding them. The twists kept me guessing, the tension was delicious, and the romance was equal parts devastating and consuming. That gothic atmosphere and the Beauty and the Beast influences were just the cherry on top.

Now, THE AUDIOBOOK! Grayson Owens and June deBorahae absolutely understood the assignment. The duet narration brought another level of intensity to an already emotionally charged story. The tension, desperation, vulnerability, and chemistry came through so beautifully in their performances. I was completely immersed, and those heavier emotional moments hit even harder because of it.

This is exactly why Sadie remains one of my forever favorite dark romance authors. She doesn’t just give us morally gray men and scorching chemistry. She gives us complicated characters, emotional depth, and love stories that make you feel absolutely EVERYTHING.

Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it. Imogen and Lincoln have my whole heart, and this duet reminded me all over again why I love Sadie’s storytelling so damn much. An absolute five-star experience, especially on audio!

And now we are back with Lincoln and Imogen to finish off that gottdam Brotherhood of evil— guns blazin’ while being the horniest couple.

This sequel had me. It actually had some plot twists— it got me twice. I liked seeing Imogen become stronger. She was no damsel in distress and thank fucking God while she was playing with Saul and Larissa post escape and making Lincoln big sad and extra horny.

The first part I was just waiting for them to reunite, their mutual distrust and pining for each other fit well with all that occurred towards the end of The Auction. Pierre was basically just there again to cook some damn meals and watch tv. He basically just served as a buffer. Imogen is definitely less naive and more angry but basically she’s just horny.

There was so much tension between them while they reunited and plotted against The Brotherhood. Imogen decides she’s going to fuck shit up and gets busy training for 2 fucking weeks because that’s enough time to become STRONG and defeat the bad guys.

I do have to say the ending with the Brotherhood felt a little anticlimactic in terms of how that plot wrapped itself up. Like it was just so abrupt in terms of how things were left (and obviously still not over).

Caution: Also there is a third act “break” and it felt cliche, after everything 😬

Still I give it 4.25 for the vibes.

Now give me Edgar and Esme’a book 🤭

I loved The Auction so much, but this felt like it lost a little steam. Something in the writing came off a little cheesy towards the second half of the book.

When Imogen and Lincoln finally reunited, they struggled so hard to not be interrupted and kept having conversation difficulties with lack of full communication. It got a bit frustrating that it comprised about the first half of the book. They were jumping so hard to wrong conclusions in the most ridiculous ways. Imogen even called out the conversations going in circles.

I liked the found family aspect in the book, but felt a little fumbled by the end. I kept feeling like the dialogue was inauthentic due to all the cheesiness. The two week badass boot camp turning Imogen into a fighter was also a bit much for me with how babied she is in most of the story.

The ending was packed with action, but also simultaneously felt like it ended too quickly and easily. I didn’t really expect the ending twist, but did feel like it ended the story well. Also Lincoln’s choice at the end again felt like he took Imogen’s ability to choose her own path. I get what the book was trying to do, but I didn’t love it.

Overall, still a super compelling story and had a great time reading. So happy I got a copy early at B&N.

This ending to the duet was good. We got lots of answers to the secrets that have been brewing. After the events of The Auction Imogen is once again in the hands of her grandfather and Larissa and Lincoln and Imogen are both questioning loyalties and are separated for almost half of the book. They both work to discover more about the Brotherhood and how to find the King. Secrets are revealed about Imogen and her parents and their part in the Brotherhood. Secrets are also revealed about Lincoln and who he is and how he connects to Imogen. Their relationship is so hot and cold which I didn't love tbh and the ending kinda pissed me off... the spice was spicyyyy as it always is in a Sadie Kincaid book! I am wondering if we may get a spin off about Edgar?? 👀👀 Lincoln loves Imogen so fiercely and there were some really great quotes in the book from him.

To say this was one of my most anticipated reads this year is a vast understatement. Coming off The Auction and that cliffhanger, I was absolutely feral for a resolution to this story, and Sadie didn't disappoint! As someone who tries to guess the plot points as she reads, I definitely did not see that twist coming!

Lincoln and Imogen's HEA is hard won. The action keeps you flipping pages, and the spice makes the book unputdownable! I'm sad to say there's no butter scenes in this one though. IYKYK! 😏🤭

One of the aspects I loved most about this story was the plethora of characters we got to meet and connect with, in addition to previous favorites like Edgar and Pierre. I’m a sucker for good found family vibes.

It really is a multidimensional book packed with emotional depth, dark depravity, and a love that's truly written in the stars. If you're looking for your next darkly twisted and seriously addictive read, pick this duet up!

Honestly, it was ABOUT TIME we finally got to see this story come to an end!
One thing I have to say is how relieved I am that this wasn't turned into a trilogy! As much as I love getting more time with these characters, I was really hoping Sadie would wrap their story up in two books, and I'm SO glad she did. Sometimes knowing when to end a story is everything!

And now, Sadie, can we PLEASE talk about Lucien?! I am beyond ready for his book and cannot wait to see what you have planned for him. Bring it on! ❤️

Another fantastic read from one of my favorite authors. Five stars from me! ⭐️

Thank you so much Sadie Kincaid, MIRA and NetGalley for providing me with an earc to read and review The Game in advance.

Unfortunately this book fell a tad flat for me. I struggled for the first half of the book it was just too slow; I just was waiting for them to get back. The second half of the book had more momentum and the story flowed better. Imogen character just irked me whereas in the first book I really liked her.

Not Sadie's best work but I will definitely read more of her books in the future.

Overall the duet sat at about 4 ⭐'s for me, it was good but for my personal tastes it wasn't my favourite Sadie Kincaid series, I liked the story and characters there just felt to be something missing that gave it that magic and unhelpfully I'm not quite sure what it was,

Okay, this was FUN! 😂👏🏾

Picking up right where The Auction left off, we jump straight back into the drama, betrayal, and emotional chaos. And honestly? I had a pretty good time with it!

First of all, IMOGEN! 👏🏾 While she still had plenty of moments where her emotions and behavior felt a little childish, I was SO happy to see her finally develop a backbone. Watching her start standing up for herself instead of just letting everything happen around her was such a welcome change.

Now, once our main characters were finally reunited… GOOD LORD. 😭😂 The constant push and pull between them was EXHAUSTING at times. And the frustrating part? It wasn’t even miscommunication. It was a complete LACK of communication! Trust had been broken, everyone felt betrayed, and nobody wanted to actually sit down and have a proper conversation. Meanwhile, I’m over here like, CAN Y’ALL JUST BANG IT OUT AND MOVE ON?! 😂😂 I understand that hurt feelings and broken trust don’t magically disappear, but after a while I was ready to personally lock them in a room until they figured it out. 😭

One thing I absolutely LOVED, though, was seeing familiar faces from other books pop up! There’s something so satisfying about characters from an interconnected universe making appearances that actually serve the plot instead of feeling like random cameos thrown in for fan service. It makes the world feel so much more connected!

Now, I did have a couple of complaints. The middle section dragged a little for me, and can we PLEASE talk about the real-life pop culture references?! 😭 Every time one popped up, I rolled my eyes. I don’t know what it is, but those references immediately pull me out of the story. I want to be immersed in your fictional world, not reminded of what’s happening in ours! 😂

BUT THAT PLOT TWIST?! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Sadie said, SURPRISE, YOU THOUGHT WRONG! 😭😂 And I LOVE when an author manages to catch me completely off guard like that. I was so confident in my little theory too. EMBARRASSING. 😂

I was desperate to read this book, and while it absolutely delivered in so many ways, there were also a few things that left me wanting more.

Imogen and Lincoln's dynamic is still completely supercharged, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. However, the miscommunication between these two was frustrating at times, and I found myself getting a little annoyed with Imogen throughout the book. You can really see how young and immature she still is in so many ways, and there were moments when I just wanted her to grow up a little.

Lincoln, on the other hand, completely stole the show for me. His angst, his internal struggle, and his constant battle with himself over giving Imogen everything she wants and deserves had me wanting more and more of him. There is so much going on beneath the surface with him, and I found myself far more invested in his emotional journey.

My biggest disappointment was how quickly the climax unfolded. Those chapters felt incredibly rushed, especially after everything that had been building. We were given so much information all at once, only for it to be over and barely addressed again. I really wish those moments had been given more room to develop because there was so much potential there.

BUT THAT ENDING! I genuinely did not see that coming, and I absolutely loved the way everything wrapped up. It made me incredibly happy and was such a fantastic payoff.

Overall, this was a book I was so excited to get my hands on, and I'm glad I finally got to experience it. I had a few frustrations, but the chemistry, angst, and ending made it well worth the read.

And now, Sadie, can we PLEASE get a book for Xander?! Because I am officially ready for his story!

I waited very impatiently for this book to come out ( definitely enjoyed re-reading The Auction to prepare ). I absolutely adored The Auction so I was very anxious to see what happened. We left The Auction at the edge of our seats with so many questions about Imogens past and her family, and the big question of Lincoln’s last statement. Well….we finally get all of the answers but it takes a while. The first half of the book is a bit frustrating since all you want is for Linc to find Imogen and have them make up. We get to see Lincoln and Edgar do their work and try to find Imogen for what seems like forever. The second half of the book - sparks fly!! It takes a bit for them to figure out how to actually talk, like really talk, and get through their hurt and explain lots of details and really learn who each other is. Many times I wanted to smack them both for being bullheaded. I loved the surprise pop up from Keres and meeting new people who help with their mission. Like most of Sadie’s book there is a bit of an emotional roller coaster. This time however prepare for several twists! I actually screamed toward the end until I got through the chapter ( not giving it away! ). I love that we get to see them continue their lives and grow together.

After that ending of book one I've been counting down to get this book!!

We dive back in where book one ended with Imogen and Lincoln apart, of course despite being unsure who betrayed who Lincoln still fights for her.

The book lost me a little around the middle, Imogen is obviously naive and childlike after her sheltered life and it's great watching her grow into her own personality but sometimes I just wanted to give her a little shake at just how childish she was being 😂

Even still, there is lots going on in the background as the plan to take down the brotherhood continues as more and more about some of the bigger players within the organisation come to light!

There was a great build up and then Sadie just hits you with so many twists your head is left spinning 👀

It was a great ending to the duet and I devoured it within one day 😍

Thank you HTP for the review copy 🫶🏻

Just like the Auction, I finished The Game in less than 24 hours! DO. THE. AUDIO!😍 Grayson Owens is one of my favorite audiobook narrators and he brought swoony, dark and grumpy with his amazing funny and goofy side that we all love to see!

Not only did my day start with DMing back and forth with Sadie Kincaid, but it ended with one of my friends meeting her and getting a copy of this book signed to me (insert fan girl screams!) Anyways, back to the book…😆

Lincoln and Imogen’s love is extremely hard won and this delivered all of that and more! I don’t want to give spoilers since this is a brand new release, but those twists the last 1/4 of the book - GOOD LAWD! I was screaming! I was texting my friend Nicky crashing out, I was scared, excited, nervous, relieved…. all of the emotions! I am so so so happy that HEA happened and frankly, now I’m begging for a crossover Chicago novella! 😍 It would be SO good! The QUEEN of dark romance has outdone herself and I cannot wait to see what she writes next!

No butter was harmed in the making of this book.😆

2.5 ⭐️
Ebook 📕 and Audiobook 🎧
4.5 🌶️

I love Sadie Kincaid and devour all her books. I found this book to be lacking and the characters frustrating. Firstly, this duo could have been combined into one book. You take out all the rehashing conversations and repeated thoughts and you take out about 50% of just this book.

As far as characters, I found that they were very manipulating. I liked Imogen in the first book and she came across strong, steady yet naive. In this book, she was just a brat and very whiny. While I know she’s young it just got very immature. Around the 70% mark she turned it around but it was a little too late. I preferred the Lincoln we got in this book than the one we got in the first book.

I love a good spicy book but this got to be too much and way too repetitive. It seemed to be used to fill the pages instead of to enhance the plot.

I look forward to what Sadie writes in the future but please - for the love of all things holy - stop with the duologies! Especially when they can just be standalones!

I really enjoyed this, after the cliffhanger at the end of The Auction I’ve been desperate to find out what happens next and this didn’t disappoint.

This is very dark and twisted, and seriously addictive. I had such a great time reading it and I’m very excited to read more from Sadie Kincaid. The reveals in here did take me by surprise, I guessed a few of them, but would never have guessed some of the others.

Lincoln and Imogen have such a great dynamic, that tension is beautiful and I can’t get enough of it. Even with everything that happened and they found out between them they really were inevitable.

My only negative is that this wrapped up very quickly. I think I would have preferred either an ambiguous ending or just having the epilogue instead of the 2-3 chapters before. I also don’t love the pop culture references in here, the older references I liked but referencing avengers endgame was very cringy and pulled me out of the moment.

I was not so patiently waiting to read this one after that massive cliff hanger in the Auction. And let me tell you this did not disappoint. The first half of this is a bit slower. But once you hit that second half things start to get wild! Plot twist I never saw coming! Plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat begging for more!

The chemistry between Imogen and Lincoln is still intense. There is so much angst and yearning. The constant misunderstandings between these two can be pretty frustrating but it added an extra bit of depth to the plot while they navigated and added to the character growth.

The ending is packed with so much action. It feels like this give the most perfect closure to Lincoln & Imogen’s story.

The audio made this even better! I was able to fully immerse in this read. I couldn’t put it down. It made it feel like I stepped into a different world for a bit.

Overall I absolutely loved this! The Auction & The Game make an epic duology.

It picked up right where book 1 left off. About halfway through, the plot seemed to get dropped, and the heroine became a little too whiny. I was honestly getting annoyed with the FMC and MMC’s interactions. Then the plot picked back up, and things got great again.

And then we get to that weird almost-ending… Let’s just say I understand the reasoning behind it, but it still makes absolutely no sense to me. However, we do get a happy ending, and I’ll take it!

The age difference was REALLY noticeable in this one! They’re 21 years apart, and I don’t know if the author intended for readers to feel that dynamic as much as I did, but that is a pretty significant age gap in a romance novel, at least for me.

And, of course, it’s Sadie Kincaid, so you can expect quite a bit of spice! 🌶️

The audiobook was very well done, with duet narration by Grayson Owens and June deBorahae. I listened through Hoopla.

In chess, you always protect the queen

This story picked up right where the Auction left you and it was as if the wait for this story didn’t even happen. It came with the same energy and had you on the edge of your seat. The twists throughout this story were incredible. There were many moments Lincoln made me want to throw my kindle and then moments were I adored him. Sweet “Imogene” finally learned about herself and got the freedom she always craved. This story was an insane ride and I could not stop reading. Seeing “Imogen” become stronger by each chapter was perfect. Rose and Killians Hea was worth the wait. I enjoyed this duet a lot. I loved seeing all the familiar characters again but I’m sad this world has come to an end but it was the perfect ending for these two characters.

Purchased from Blackwell's and arrived pre-publication date. A great sequel to the series! I like how feisty Imogen is as a character. Some good spicy scenes in this book too, although a few did fade to black after they just got going. Pacing wise the book is slow at first, then the action kicks in just past halfway, then it feels a bit like everything happens at once and the story resolves a bit too quickly. The last part of the book has numerous time jumps which I'm personally not a fan of because we don't get to experience the same growth the character does. Still, they get their HEA! Would definitely read again.

I had the honor of meeting Sadie Kincaid tonight at a book signing and I literally finished this book while I was standing in line for her to sign it. My mind was so blown and I was in a bit of shock when I said hello. This is the second book in a duet, so make sure you read The Auction first. Lincoln and Imogen's story is full of action and drama and so much love. The author advises you at the beginning to get snacks, stay hydrated and grab tissues. When you least expect it, you will need those tissues and even if it breaks your heart, it had to be done. Always remember there is a HEA a few chapters away and it's got a rose and everything ❤️

On the heels of The Auction cliffhanger, The Game picks up right where Lincoln and Imogen left off. Both of them wrestle with feelings of betrayal and resentment. They do reunite but it's a lot of push/pull, I love/hate you. The story really drags about halfway through then picks up at a tornado pace. People aren't who they seem and the twist is revealed. Then Lincoln drops a heartbreaking bombshell that made me want to throw the phone across the room.
I won't spoil it, but there are a lot of characters so reread The Auction if it's been a while. Grayson and June also did a great job narrating. A solid sequel.

sadly this book just didn’t feel like Kincaid's writing

Sadly this 2 book series just got lost. First, Kincaid has been my favorite author. This series unlike her other books just felt contrived and manipulated. The spice (what I looked forward to in other books) just doesn’t feel as developed or as sexy. I never expected all the odd twists and turns to get to a plausible story. Ultimately the book took a long time to even hold my interest. Utterly disappointed in this series. And although I did finish it due to my respect for this author I can’t say I’d recommend it. I’m even sad I am writing this but it was so convoluted I felt I had to let the author know.

The plot of the first book intrigued me enough to read this one. Both books had a lot of spice just for spice sake in the weirdest moments of the plot which were distracting. The story itself was great and kept me reading, but the characters lacked chemistry and the dialogue was painful. Miscommunication and insecure whiny FMC tropes are not my favorites. The ending feels rushed and left me wanting more. All in all, loved the idea of the story, but didn’t love the execution. I’m a big fan of SK and love a lot of her books, this series just missed the mark for me.

Unbelievable, unforgettable, perfection

This duet has had me torn up, inside out back to front and feeling everything.

Ive loved Sadie's books for 5 years and shes always a instant read author but this is one of my favourite shes ever written. It kept me on my toes through every page turn trying to guess what was coming and I DID NOT see that coming!!

I love Lincoln and Imogen. Their characters and story will stay with me long after the book has closed.

Worth every second of the wait after The Auction.
