It's hard to convey how great this book from my kidhood is, especially since when I think of it, I hear it in my father's voice. The book is about Mr. Musgrove, a British postman who delivers the mail from his autogyro (helicopter), his wife, Mrs. Musgrove, and Nina, their cow. Mr. Musgrove is fired from his job because of the way he delivers the mail, and everyone in the family (including Nina) pitches in. I really don't want to spoil it for anyone, in case you happen to come across a copy, but it does have a happy ending, of course.
'And even the grownups said: "Num, num what elegant ice cream"-- I still remember that from this delightful book that my mother read to me and my sister several decades ago
