Naughty or nice... Why choose?Aside from her name, Noelle has never been a particularly festive person—or a very lucky one. So getting stood up by her supposed scent-matches two days before Christmas? Didn’t really surprise her.
Noelle can’t blame anyone but herself. Based on her past, she ought to have known better than to believe her silliest wish had finally come true. This year, she vows things will be different. No more holiday cheer or delusional dreams…
Until her match service calls to place her with a new pack of potential mates.
At their first meeting, Elias and Carson obliterate all of Noelle’s plans for a lonely holiday. Unlike her other supposed “matches”, they truly want her. They’re also pretty much perfect. A kind, gallant pro-goalie and a world-famous coach with just enough dominance to make her knees weak.
There’s only one problem. Well, two problems.
It turns out, the nice alphas aren’t her only mates. She’s also an exact match for their professional rivals—cocky hockey superstar, Xander, and his broody-but-menacing packmate, Jett.
She expects the challengers to back off once they see who they’re up against. Instead, Noelle’s not-so-nice pack proves they’re to do whatever it takes to win her over.
Even if it means getting snowed in with their sworn enemies.

This was everything I could want in a story. Deliciously spicy, so angsty but also funny and an homage to an entire series and world that the author has created.
We’ve got: A touch starved omega who has been broken by rejection A daddy of an alpha in Carson The human embodiment of safety and healing in Elias A tortured bratty alpha in Xander A broken and abandoned alpha in Jett
And they’re snowed in! And they all want her! There’s so much hurt/comfort, so much spice but most of all… there’s so much heart. These characters see the cracks and damages in each other and fill those holes because of love and family.
I’m pretty sure this is my favorite in the MVP world and there’s 5 reasons why - and they’re all members of pack Carole.
Thanks so much to Ari for the review copy. All opinions are honest and shared voluntarily.
If you’ve read any of my reviews, you know just how much I love me a good why-choose.. make it holiday themed and it’s pure gold!!
Our girl Noelle signs up for a matchmaking service hoping to find a little holiday romance. She gets stood up, or at least she thinks she does.. what she gets instead is total whiplash from a pack of bonded alphas, and they want her to complete the pack.
Chileeee this was one hell of a good time!
In the end, my girl learned one man just wasn’t enough for Christmas this year!!
5⭐️ I received this arc from the author's agency in exchange for my honest review
WDYM I got to ARC read one of my favourite Omega verse authors Christmas books?! So cool! ------- anyway, I absolutely loved this book! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I LOVE the backgrounds we get with the FMC's - I love the intimate moments with each of the guys, and how they all just love and fawn over her. This story did not disappoint. 10/10 recommend for this christmas season!
Knotty or Nice is the sixth book in the MVP: Most Valued Pack series of interconnect standalones. While characters from previous books are present, this can totally be read as a standalone.
This was a great read, with plenty of spice, characters depth and swoony moments. I loved the rivalry between the two packs, and how they all had to adjust to reach their final goal.
There are four MMCs in this story, and each one has he's own voice, his own arc, and most of all his own unique relationship with the FMC. Even when there wasn't a conflict, there was still time to get to know each character and develop a connection.
As many omegaverse romances, the spice I pretty high, and connected to the plot. While there's no MM action (bummer, I think Carson and Xander would have been great together) the lines blur a little, so be aware of that.
Overall, I loved the Christmas-y vibes, the various characters back stories, and the more emotional moments, without loosing on the spicy moments. Perfect for those looking for an omegaverse read with all the hot and sweaty moments without foregoing characters depth or development.
I loved this book so much. I loved it, and the truth is that I enjoyed it in a way I never thought I could. First, I'm very new to this whole omegaverse thing—I mean, I've read a few books, but I consider myself super new because I had never explored this particular taste in this world, right? And when you realize it's a new and different world, you get... you become addicted, and well, that's where I am, in full addiction, sorry. Honestly, I haven't read any of the previous books either, and well, after understanding that I didn't need to read the previous ones to read this one, that's why I said, let's read this ARC, and well, here it is. Thank you for allowing me to read this advanced copy of the book, I feel extremely happy and pleased.
So well, without giving any spoilers, I really liked the dynamics of this book because normally in Why Choose, the dynamics tend to be a bit difficult, right? Because honestly, it's a bit hard for me to imagine if having one man is enough, imagine having four.
So well, now let's talk about our main characters. We have our protagonist who is Noelle. Our girl, our Omega. Honestly, she made me feel quite sad, but at the same time happy. I say sad because she's a girl who has been through a lot, and honestly, I wanted to see her happy, I wanted to see her satisfied. At the same time, I understood what her fears were, I understood why she made that decision and had those feelings of "you know what? I don't want to keep trying, I'm going to be the aunt who has 40 cats and lives on a mountain." So well, I really liked her as a protagonist because she managed to convey what normally, in theory, an Omega is, and that fascinated me. I mean, it fascinated me so much.
Now let's talk about our male leads, but I'm going to separate them into two parts in the sense that they are two packs. There's Carson and Elias, and there's Jett and Xander. Let's see: Carson and Elias, who are the older ones, so to speak, are guys who are in theory, I think, starting their 40s or are in their 40s, I'm not 100% sure about that. They are serious guys. Carson seems like a great guy to me, and when I say a great guy, I mean he's a focused man, he knows what he wants and how he wants it, but he had been looking for something in life and couldn't find it simply because, like everything in life, sometimes it's hard to get what you want because you're focused on other things. And Elias is a hopeless romantic. I think out of all of them, the one I liked the most was Elias because he's super... I don't know, he gave me that cozy feeling, so soft, affectionate, the kind of guy who understands you, the kind who simply with one look can figure out what's wrong with you.
So I feel like as a pack they complement each other a lot, I mean, they are two Alphas who completely complement each other, and honestly, I really liked the dynamics between the two of them. Now let's talk about Jett and Xander. The explosive duo and the dynamic duo, because honestly, if we look at it from one perspective, they were a mess. I mean, they were a total mess, but I get it, I understand that that mess was exactly what Carson and Elias needed, because Carson and Elias are very calm, organized, methodical, very "perfect" in theory, quotes intended. But Jett and Xander were the complete opposite. And I think that was one of the reasons why they clashed so much as teammates. Well, and mostly because Carson is everyone's coach. So well, Jett seemed pretty explosive to me, but one of those fuckboys who send you to therapy and you spend a really long time trying to get over him. And Xander is a flirt. Xander is a flirt who will conquer you with looks, and he's super handsome, plain and simple.
So, I really liked that we had a pack of the "older guys" and another pack of the "younger guys," because in theory they all acted at the same level when it came to our Omega: unhinged, obsessive, and deeply in love. Honestly, I thought that sense of found family among them was so sweet, because I feel like they all managed to fill that comfort they needed inside and filled all those empty spaces. I know it sounds bad to say they needed each other, because they didn't just come to complement their Omega, but all four of them complemented each other as Alphas. And I found that absolutely beautiful.
🏒 Hockey romance ❄️ Snowed in 🐺 Two rival packs, one omega 💞 Why choose 🔗 Fated mates / Rejected mates 🖤 Dominant coach 🧸 Gentle giant goalie 🔥 Feral, only-soft-for-her 🐶 Golden retriever superstar 🥹 Groveling (and lots of it) ❤️🩹 Hurt/comfort 🏡 Found family
I absolutely adore Ari and this series, but I think this one has officially claimed my top spot in the MVP world. Two opposing packs, complicated history, conflicting loyalties, and scent matches make for the kind of deliciously angsty setup I cannot get enough of. And the groveling? OH, THE GROVELING. Xander and Jett understood the assignment, and I was absolutely eating it up.
Elias, though. My goodness, Elias. That sweet, steady Swedish man had my heart almost immediately. He's thoughtful, secure, and consistently puts Noelle's happiness first. Add in his adorable family, FaceTime baking sessions, knitting, and the fact that he's a goalie? Excuse me while I go find myself a Swedish hockey player. His developing friendship with Jett was also one of my favorite parts of the book.
Xander absolutely wrecked me. This poor man has spent so much of his life carrying burdens that were never his to carry and making sacrifices at his own expense. I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket and remind him that he deserves good things, too. His connection with Carson was another highlight, and watching those two build something meaningful was incredibly touching. I loved how their relationships with Noelle created opportunities for healing they didn't even realize they needed.
And then there's Jett. Beneath that larger-than-life personality is such a soft, emotionally vulnerable man. His connection with Noelle has a depth that really got to me. I will always be a sucker for a man who looks like trouble on the outside but is secretly an absolute sweetheart underneath. Give me all the tough exteriors hiding ridiculous amounts of affection.
Carson deserves his own moment because he is exactly the alpha this group needed. He's an alpha's alpha: strong, steady, and commanding, with one goal of making sure everyone is taken care of and happy. He sees the potential in each of them and knows how to bring it out, pushing them to become the best alphas for Noelle and the best packmates for one another. I loved watching him take on that role.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the relationships these men developed with one another, even outside their connections to Noelle. Omegaverse often puts the omega at the center of every relationship dynamic, so I really appreciated the attention given to the men building their own bonds, learning to trust one another, and creating a family. Watching them become a unit was genuinely one of the most heartwarming parts of the story.
Noelle also made me feel ALL the things. My heart broke for her, knowing how much she's had to carry emotionally. I desperately wanted her to experience the love, security, and affection she deserved. I understood her hesitation and why she might eventually decide that love just wasn't worth the trouble anymore. I loved that her emotional journey was given the attention it deserved rather than simply expecting her to move past everything because love finally showed up.
And that EPILOGUE! The absolute cherry on top. It was such a perfect homage to this entire series, with all the cameos I could have hoped for and one last unexpected twist that I absolutely did not see coming but LOVED. Getting to catch up with everyone was so much fun and reminded me just how invested I am in this world and all the characters Ari has given us.
This book had everything I wanted: delicious spice, emotional angst, spectacular groveling, laugh-out-loud moments, and so much heart. I'm officially calling it my favorite MVP book so far. Four men, one incredible pack, and a whole lot of reasons to fall in love with this series all over again.
All I’m going to say is if you have been wanting to read Ari’s books, this is the perfect one to start with. I have no read any of the other books in this series and now, I need to. This has to be my favorite book of hers that I’ve read.
I just loved the whole vibe of two rival packs coming together along with the fact that one of the packs had rejected her by not showing up at a match service.
I loved how all the guys had completely different personalities and I was so curious to see how these two packs were going to make this work because you have the more established alphas versus the ones that will lose theirselves at the drop of a hat. I loved all four of the guys for very different reasons.
I loved that our sweet Noelle happens to be a nurse as her career choice.
Noelle, Carson, Elias, Jett and Xander were so good together. The spice was so spicy in this book. I really loved how the guys made Noelle feel seen and wanted. When Xander said he would leave, that’s when I knew things were about to get interesting.
My heart broke for Xander so much because him rejecting Noelle in the past made complete sense the more I read this book. I loved how Carson was the one to help him through that. The whole scene where Noelle and Carson help Xander had to be one of my favorite moments. Poor Xander tried to stay away from everyone while he was going through hell - a rut.
I really loved Carson and Xander’s relationship and how he grounded Xander.
And the epilogue. We get a few surprises but it surprised me. Makes me need to read more from this series.
I’m really hoping we get more in this series because this was just wonderful. You get some drama but that’s to be expected in omegaverse. You also get a pack that really dotes on their omega, funny moments, and just probably one of the best and many, many amazing groveling moments. Also, if you’re looking for a pack that gets snowed in during the holidays, you’ll love this one.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This is my first book by this author & a standalone in an interconnected series. Recently I've been finding new authors in the Omegaverse genre & exploring it. So when I came across this book cover in the Smuthood group I knew that I had to check it out & I'm really glad that I did.
After reading this book I think I will be checking out the rest of the other books in this series. I really enjoyed this book. A why choose hockey/sport romance... those two things pretty much sold me the book. Noelle hasn't had a great run after being stood up by her scent matches two days before Christmas & the following year hasn't exactly been great for her either. Its left her doubting herself & why the dream that she's had about a pack is even worth while thinking about.
Heartbroken, but there is a chance of another match with some Alpha's who just happen to know the ones who never showed up. The ones Noelle believe rejected her before even meeting her. I loved reading how this story unfolded & how the two sets of Alpha's were trying to prove who was best for her but she was torn about who her Omega wanted. It is a story laced with drama, tension & so much tension that it was rolling off the pages.
It really was a great story & had pretty much everything that I love to read in a book. I really liked the characters & the progression of the story. It was a cute holiday read & I'm really glad that I found this book and this author. The only issue that I had with this book which knocked it down a .5 star was that this was listed as a hockey romance & with the MMC's were all hockey players. I do wish that there had been more hockey game scenes involved but I can overlook that because I enjoyed the book.

I absolutely loved this one! The author has such a fantastic way of making omegaverse that hurt your heart and still make you cheer for the characters that did so.
This one was so good. Noelle (adorable name for a holiday novel) was a touch-starved omega who worked herself to the bone after being rejected by her scent-match mates before they even met. We get to see how broken she is, how lost her omega is, and the ones who tore her apart never giving her a reason as to why. She ends up with so much abandonment trauma and it felt like such a beautiful moment to see her finally meet two new scent matches who wanted her.
Tying that in with the devastation of her initial scent matches coming back into the picture, and both packs wanting to claim her as theirs?! SO good. There was so much tension and rivalry while we slowly got to see the motivations behind who each character was, and how they got to where they were, that I literally read this in one sitting the very night it came through. Nothing was making me put this book down!
If you're looking for a holiday romance omegaverse that is sweet, filthy, and full of resolved trauma and adorable moments, this one is for you!
me: this is going to be a sweet holiday omegaverse read also me: CRYING IN THE PROLOGUE. OKAY ARI
our girl Noelle went tonight it at the beginning of this book, but it’s okay bc by the end, she had 4 alphas all dedicated to her happiness and 2 who groveled and deserved their redemption. Xander and Jett you also felt for. the found family was strong in this book which is something i always love. the entire pack complimented each other so well.
another great installment in the MVP series. you do not need to read any other books in the series before this, but is recommended as the other packs are mentioned and make an appearance.
thank you Ari Wright for an e-ARC of 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑵𝒊𝒄𝒆 ❄️🤍

Knotty or Nice has so many things I love in an omegaverse/why choose!
I’ve got to start off with my favorite MMC- “I know, right? He’s like human Xanex.” A better description does not exist for the gentle giant Elias 😍 I absolutely loved him and the way he cared for Noelle and the other guys!
This isn’t to say the other MMC’s weren’t perfection as well! They each brought something unique to the pack, but also blended beautifully together. There were moments where I wanted to smack them upside their heads, but then immediately pull them into bear hugs!
The spice was abundant and I loved the forced proximity with them being snowed in! Gotta love when opposing forces have to figure out how to get along 😂
If you love omegaverses with hockey players, holiday vibes, and a good amount of angst, you definitely need to pick this book up!
Thank you so much to @ari.wrights.romance & @thesmuthood for the ARC!
I had so much fun reading the newest MVP book by Ari Wright! I felt so many emotions going through this book, especially in the last 25%! The relationships mended and hearts healed were so lovely! I definitely audibly gasped at a few parts! The way that hurt feelings had to be mended between numerous characters was absolutely fantastic! I love how they came together to be the best versions of themselves for the whole pack, not just the FMC.
This is an interconnected standalone within the MVP series. This can be read as a complete standalone. There are appearances by characters of other MVP books, so it definitely will be more fun if you know all those connections before diving in!
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you!
Each alpha is so yummy I actually cannot pick a favourite, I loved them all in their own way. However the main love of this story for me was Noelle! Our poor little touched starved, smart and sassy omega 🥹 she deserves the world and I think her alphas might just give it to her 🥰
You may think this is going to be a sweet, cosy horny holiday omegaverse (and it totally is) but holy shit did this hit me straight in the feels, Xander made me wanna cuddle up and smoosh his adorable face. The big coach Carson straight up gave me daddy vibes and I was here 👏 for 👏 it 👏 Elias the big lovable goalie, another older daddy but not as dominaring as Carson. And Jett, who is quite frankly a brat and I love him 🥹
I always love Ari's books so much. Noelle is an omega that's given up hope of finding her scent matches. She's been abandoned, rejected, and confused. When she gets notification of a match, she's skeptical. But when she meets Elias and Carson, she begins to dream that she could maybe find her pack. When Jett and Xander join and she realizes who they are, everything gets complicated. I love how they all just surround her and try to give her what she needs, despite not really vibing with each other initially.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was an awesome omegaverse with not one, but two scent matches fit this beautiful omega. And did I mention that they’re both rivals? Noelle thinks one of the two will step away and let the others have her, but that was not the case. Especially when all five of them get snowed in at the cabin. This was such a great Christmas omegaverse with four really hot guys that all wanted to be with Noelle. This was so much fun, so sweet with a little steam. I loved seeing these guys all come together for a beautiful holiday romance. It was an absolutely amazing read.
What a ride!!!!!! Omegaverse.… don’t know what that is? Ask chat gpt lmao. Thank me later. In all seriousness, I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did. Lol. I came for the spice but ended up loving all the damn characters tbh. It was funny, hot, and deep all at the same time. I got to know a good amount about each character’s back story and it really helped develop the plot, for me. Take all that and add a Christmas theme on top of it … SWOOOOOON. So glad I read this one and now I’m going to back and start at the first one.
I have LOVED Ari’s MVP series. The FMCs are so cool and the guys are drool worthy. Was this my favorite in the series? No. But it’s still such a fun read and has my all-time favorite trope: snowed in together! ❄️🥰
Add in some holiday magic and this book will win you over on vibes alone!
Thank you so much to the author and The Author’s Agency for the opportunity to read this book prior to publication.
oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh, I LOVED this! So much beautiful emotion and heart, lots of delicious spice, and a pack that I can't get enough of (like seriously). Such a wonderful story and I will absolutely be reading the rest of this series asap!!!
Thank you to the author and the Author Agency for the advanced reader copy, this review is given voluntarily.
This was such a great cozy MMMMF hockey romance. I really enjoyed the concept of two packs mated to one omega, it added such a cool layer to traditional omegaverse why choose romances. The story of everyone healing and coming together. Elias is the true hero in this story, a burly, gorgeous GK that can knit and bake?!?!? Yes please!
Thank you to the author and the Smuthood for the ARC.
I am a little obsessed with, Carson, dominant alpha. The man is caring, gives correction and praise, and he also likes to eat. I really love this OV world and happy to see some returning characters. I hope Holly gets a book!
A fantastic addition to the interconnected reverse harem omegaverse sports romance series!
Left waiting for her scent matches at the match making service a few days before Christmas, her omega had been hiding ever since that rejection. Almost a year later, a few days before her membership expires she is matched with a new pack of two alphas. Even with the terrible trauma of her last experience, she goes to meet with them, but their moment gets crashed by the same two alphas that left her waiting last year. When it turns out these four alphas are all working and playing on the same hockey team, and both pairs harbour intense animosity towards each other, she knows she has to choose one or the other pack.
The FMC is such a strong character, her past isn’t the idyllic childhood one would hope for. Her mother left her and her father before she turned two years old, not long before the Christmas holidays. Nothing was simply handed to her, she worked hard to become a nurse and find work at an ER, which is uncommon for an omega. She is practical to a fault, yet she couldn’t give up the one dream she had her whole life, to find a pack of her own. So, what little extra money she had was put towards the scent matching service of Forever Matched, but once again she was left and forgotten when the pack she matched with didn’t show up.
We have two packs of two alphas as MMCs, both working and playing for the same hockey team, yet they couldn’t be more antagonistic with each other. The two promising players that were added to the team had been slowly falling apart over the last year. Their skills on the ice suffering from physical and psychological tolls, the goalie alpha going into rut every month, and the winger suffering from intense anxiety around every game. With a new coach, and his pack member goalie added to the team the intent was to provide mentorship, yet the two players decidedly don’t see it as that. They viewed the two new older alphas to be rivals to them, thinking their intentions are to cut them out or take over their position. There is a lot of past and current trauma for them to work through before they can get their heads on straight and see things for what they are.
Every one of the MMCs had something they needed to work through in order to be the alpha their omega needed, some certainly had much more to work through than others. Their FMC also had a lot of past trauma to work through, and the disappearance of her omega after the rejection had a huge toll on her. It was a very gradual building of relationships between all the MCs, their views were narrowed to what they knew, their traumas, and their pasts. With some forced proximity in the form of a snowstorm keeping them trapped together, their relationships begrudgingly started to grow. It took time, and the right reason for them to open up to each other and allow themselves to grow.
There were some very steamy moments early on as the alphas pulled their omega out of the depths she was hiding in. The heat spikes and ruts gave us some very steamy and spicy moments, which also pushed the alphas to connect through their omega. It was very gratifying and a deliciously smutty time when the FMC’s heat finally hit and the spice went up another notch.
This was such a sweet romance, it started off with so much hurt, but the comfort was undeniable once it started. Every one of the MMCs provided something different, yet absolutely necessary for their FMC and her omega’s comfort. It was a very slow building of the MMCs relationships and the realization of what ultimately their omega needs.
I would’ve liked a little more of the HEA, the slow change as everything took on a new normal. I especially wanted more details on the what happened with the FMC’s job, all the time she took off and what she went back to. This was a snowed in story though, so it’s fair that we didn’t get more after. The epilogue was great though, I’m absolutely delighted by the reveal that happened there!
Such a fantastic addition to the standalone series, and I can’t wait for the next one so I can return to this universe!
And somehow, they're all supposed to figure out how to make this work without completely losing their minds.
Noelle is the kind of FMC you just want to see get her happy ending. She's been through enough that she's pretty much ready to give up on finding the love and security she wants, and honestly, I can understand why she'd be hesitant to put herself out there again.
But then we have Carson, Elias, Jett, and Xander.
And these men could NOT be more different.
Carson and Elias are the more mature, established Alphas. Carson is the serious, take-charge type who likes having everything under control, while Elias is basically the emotional support Alpha of the group.
Seriously, there's something about a man who's affectionate, attentive, and actually notices when something is wrong without needing a detailed PowerPoint presentation explaining your feelings.
We appreciate emotional intelligence around here.
Then you've got Jett and Xander, who apparently missed the memo about being calm and collected.
Jett brings the attitude and impulsiveness, while Xander has enough charm and flirtation to make himself everyone's problem.
Putting those two together with Carson and Elias?
Oh, that's going to be entertaining.
What I find interesting about this particular why-choose setup is that we're not just watching four men compete for the same woman. There are already established dynamics between the Alphas, and those relationships have to evolve, too.
That's something I really appreciate in a good omegaverse romance.
I don't want four interchangeable men whose only personality trait is being obsessed with the FMC. Give me different personalities, different ways of showing affection, and actual relationships between the members of the pack.
And the contrast between the older, more controlled Alphas and the younger, chaotic ones gives this group plenty of room for both tension and humor.
But underneath all the possessiveness and pack dynamics, there's also that found-family element.
Noelle isn't just looking for romance. She's looking for somewhere she feels wanted, accepted, and safe enough to let her guard down.
And the men have their own missing pieces to figure out, too.
I think that's what makes the emotional side of an omegaverse romance work. It's not simply about the biological connection or the attraction. It's about watching people who have been missing something in their lives figure out how to build something together.
Of course, with four Alphas involved, I'm also expecting plenty of jealousy, possessiveness, and spice.
Because let's be serious. Nobody picks up a book called Knotty or Nice expecting everyone to behave themselves.
My biggest thing with why-choose romances is making sure every love interest gets enough attention. Four MMCs can be a LOT to juggle, especially when their personalities are so different. I want to understand what each man brings to the relationship rather than having one or two completely overshadow the others.
But the combination of contrasting personalities, established pack relationships, and Noelle's emotional journey gives this story more to explore than just the spicy side of things.
It's a holiday omegaverse romance with a little chaos, a lot of possessive Alpha energy, and a heroine who deserves to finally feel like she belongs.
And honestly, between Carson trying to maintain order, Elias being a sweetheart, and Jett and Xander causing problems, I'm not entirely sure whether Noelle is getting four boyfriends or adopting a very attractive group of troublemakers.
For readers who love: omegaverse, why choose, multiple Alphas, age-gap dynamics, found family, protective and possessive MMCs, emotional healing, and holiday spice.
I absolutely adore this Omegaverse that Ari Wright has created. The characters are always such a beautiful blend of strong and emotional that are willing to break their walls and show their vulnerability. This was especially true with Knotty or Nice. There is the young Pack Lenon that is struggling to figure out what is happening in their life. Jett and Xander have been best friends since they were little and continue to hold onto one another. But they're slowly fracturing after a bad decision a year prior. While the older Carol Pack is trying to find a family with an Omega and finally settle down. Carson is brought in as the new coach with his best friend Elias, a goalie who is hoping to help coach Jett into the greatness. But Xander doesn't know how to take criticism and is struggling to stay consistent. Jett has trust issues and only sees the new goalie as his replacement instead of a possible mentor. Thus, an accidental rival begins because neither Pack is willing to bend.
More chaos is thrown into the mix when each pack is matched to their perfect Omega but at different points in time. Xander and Jett made the mistake of not being there for their Omega a year prior. Since she is still in the database, she is rematched with Carson and Elias. But the day she meets them, Xander and Jett show up to try and fix their mistake. And what follows is pure chaos in the best way. Because of course these Knotheads think this brilliant Omega has to pick one or other because they can't see past their rivalry. So of course, Carson and Elias come up with a plan to steal their Omega away to woo her and claim her heart. Just one small problem, Jett is not willing to let go without a fight and he plans to drag Xander with him.
The greatest thing Jett did was force Xander into following the Carol Pack up the mountain to crash their holiday getaway. I know when they first arrived Carson and Elias had no idea what they were supposed to do or how to handle the situation. But that is why getting snowed in was the best situation for them all. They finally got to see each other outside the hockey rink and past flaws they held against each other. I loved that with each day and small interaction, they got to know each other beyond the pressure of being on a professional hockey team. With each group interaction, they got to see how much they actually fit together if they would simply let go of their animosity and listen.
I adored the quiet moments between the opposing pack mates as much as I loved their time with Noelle. I love when the packs come together to realize how much they balance each other. I loved this pack dynamic despite how stubborn they were to realize they were meant to together. I loved that Noelle finally gets to enjoy the holidays again and find the Alphas that will love her through everything. I only wished I could have seen her Doctor get yelled at by her Alpha's for being a turd. And I should have realized I had met Jett's brother in an earlier story. I loved him so much.
“But, for once, Carson doesn’t look intense or rigid. He just seems solid. “We’re gonna figure all of this out,” he tells us, catching my eye. Gazing into me. Vowing, “As a team.””
✔️MFMMM why choose contemporary omegaverse ✔️holiday & hockey romance ✔️two rival packs, one omega ✔️scent matched fated mates ✔️rejected mates and groveling ✔️snowed in ✔️cozy small town ✔️no 3rd act breakup
This is the perfect wintry addition to the MVP series! Though this one does have rejected mates (which admittedly is one of my least favorite tropes) it is done so well that I can’t be mad about it. Noelle (FMC, omega) used a matchmaking service to find her pack, and when she got her match, she was excited (though nervous) to meet them. It turns out that Xander (MMC, alpha) and Jett (MMC, alpha) are in fact her mates, but they stood her up and ruined Christmas for her. One year later, just as her membership for the service is about to expire, she gets another match, her mates Carson (MMC, alpha) and Elias (MMC, alpha). They are perfect for her and all in from the start, but things change in an instant when the men who rejected her a year ago show up to claim her, and they absolutely detest Carson (their hockey coach) and Elias (their teammate). Jett and Xander attempt to turn it into a competition and she believes she needs to choose between the two packs, but what if they could form a new one around her instead?
I have a favorite alpha of the pack (Elias) but each member fits perfectly and has their own distinct personality, fears, and dreams. They all have issues, some more outwardly obvious than others, but they balance each other out. It’s a slow-burn pack formation (with insta love elements, the men are all in with Noelle right away), but we get to see them slowly mesh into one pack family. They (mainly Jett and Xander) learn to trust the other alphas and themselves as their lives reorient around a common goal, which is ensuring Noelle’s happiness. This author writes the best bonding scenes, they are so vividly descriptive of what is going in inside the omega when the bond snaps into place and I love it. The bonding in this book was so special because it’s the final piece of the puzzle of this pack clicking into place.
It was fun to see some of the other packs in this series again, and there is a fun surprise (no spoilers here) that will be most impactful to readers if they have read the other books in the series (you don’t have to, this is an interconnected stand alone book, but I recommend that you do if you want a major part of the epilogue to be as impactful as it’s meant to be). The vibes are cozy and spicy and I had so much fun reading this that I didn’t want to put it down.
*I am so grateful to be a member of Ari Wright’s ARC/Content Team! Thank you so much to Ari and her team for the opportunity to ARC read this book! All opinions are my own*

I have throughly enjoyed this series! Knotty or Nice delivers a cozy, spicy and heartwarming story of second chances and healing! Noelle was discarded at a young age by her mother leaving her with trust and abandonment issues. She is a hardworking ER nurse who is longing for her pack. Unfortunately, the first time she tries she is stood up leaving her heartbroken. The second, a year later she meets her scent matched pack Carson and Elias but is stunned when Xander and Jett burst in realizing their the pack who rejected her but also her scent matches too. Needless to say the rival packs who are all affiliated with the local NHL team are not happy. Xander and Jett feel the need to compete. Both have been struggling in the past year since they didn’t show up for the match service but once it’s revealed as to what transpired I felt bad for them and the headspace they were in.
The two packs end up getting snowed in at Pack Carole’s vacation cottage forcing them to have to work together. Noelle felt torn between the need to pick a pack, but her omega slowly came to the service after being in hiding the last year and helped her realize these alphas are all hers.
The banter was hilarious and I loved Noelle’s witty, sass! Elias is this calm, jolly teddy bear! I swear when I read about him I thought of the Swed from Frozen.. “You Hoo, Big Summer Blow out” 😆 I loved him! Jett has abandonment issues too and connects with Noelle instantly. He pushes her and she loves to play with him. Xander.. my sweet, broken boy. He’s been verbally abused and degraded by his father for years and it broke my heart. I was glad Carson finally discovered it and stood up for as well as Noelle. Carson is such a dominant alpha, he has even Xander submitting and grounding him. They all contribute a different and much needed dynamic to the pack and I loved it. Bottom line .. they will do anything to make Noelle happy. The chemistry and spice was phenomena! I loved watching this pack become one! The healing and growth especially with Jett, Xander and Noelle was beautiful. Elias and Carson were the best mentors to them. If you enjoy cozy Omegaverses with plenty of spice, banter, and a healing journey then you need to add this to your TBR!
Thank you to The Smuthood and Author Ari Wright for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.
This book has some good things going for it. A group of guys that are truly likeable, even when they're a bit foolish. Decent bantering and teasing, without any underlying nastiness. And a proper apology/forgiveness arc. For these things alone it's a good read if you're looking for something fictional, wintery, and with a guaranteed hea.
Ari made some bizarre choices with her words, presumably while trying to avoid overused descriptions. Unfortunately the word sloughing does not sound pleasant in an intimate scene. "The process of dead skin or tissue.... separating and falling away" - not exactly the term you want in relation to your thighs or male organs, is it? This isn't the only odd choice, but it is the one she used most and in the worst scenes possible. Some of her choices felt like a clueless man had written the scene. It's bizarre and out of trend with her usual style.
Then there are the logistics around Noelle. It's unfortunate when the biggest wtfs of the book revolve around the FMC but, the most head scratching moments do. Noelle is a nurse, in an emergency room, and completely self sufficient. Why does a strange man (without any connection to the hospital) have the power to get her vacation time approved? At the last minute and without a set return to work date? Why is she proving her coworkers' disgruntlement regarding omegas in the workforce correct, after spending an early chapter annoyed that her designation made her accept nursing instead of becoming a doctor? Why is she proving the presumed fecklessness and limitations of her designation were true, instead of being the responsible adult coworker, despite her gender? She lives in omega only housing, which has been touted as a safety option in this series. Why can random alphas enter the building without an escort? How is that safe? A lot of these irregularities are due to the author's lack of real world building in this series. We get tiny pieces but not nearly enough to see the social picture. Unfortunately that leaves us with Noelle - a shell of a character focused on her sex drive and not her personality. A personality that is incongruous with a doormat core hidden by token "independent female" qualities that just never quite develop into a fully balanced person.
On the bright side, Meg the bint didn't return for this book. Holly is a much better "girls girl" friend. Ari however is not shaping up to be a "girls girl" author, with the vast majority of the female characters being absolute fools in this book. The stepmother especially is a terribly written character, despite not being on page much. Loving but a caricature of needy, demanding, high strung and self-centered females.
The next installment in Ari Wright’s MVP Pack series; Knotty or Nice, has arrived just in time for the holiday season! As always, I do recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it, but with this series each book can be read as a standalone in an interconnected world. This is an omegaverse romance first and foremost, know that going in readers.
Noelle is a very normal omega, she just happens to have a holiday themed name, and some of the worst luck out there. That however doesn’t stop her from wanting to find her mates, that does however land her in some heartbreak. She is stood up by her scent matches two days before Christmas, that’s right TWO DAYS before Santa’s burly self comes wiggling his way down the chimney bringing all things merry and bright. Noelle however, she’s not in the spirit, and even less so now. When things start to look as bleak as they ever have, Noelle gets a ring from the scent match company letting her know that they have potentially found her a new pack that may be just the right fit for her. Carson and Elias, calm, cool and collected and also very mature, they are as perfect as perfect can get, and to top it off…they want to keep Noelle.
Here’s the catch though…we know there’s always a catch right? Carson and Elias aren’t the only scent matches that Noelle has found. Oh no readers, we have two more guys fighting for our girl's heart. Jett and Xander, hot-headed, explosive and ready to make Noelle theirs. These two are the yin to Carson and Elais’ yang, and oh what a read does that give us.
As a long time fan of the author, I was excited to get to read the next installment of the MVP series. Each character in each of the series is different and you get to experience more of the world every time you pick up the next book in the series. With the latest book, I really enjoyed the dynamic of the pack, two younger and two “older” guys bringing different views to the pack, taking care of our FMC in a different way, but working together to give her what she truly needs. Noelle has her trauma, and when they plot starts to explore that more, the pack really rallies around her to give her the safety and care that she has always needed.
I can’t wait to see how the series comes to an end, even if I don’t want it to. Ari has a great talent and her books always bring such joy when reading. Here’s to another great addition to the collection.
4.5 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶️
Tropes:
🎄 Omegaverse 💕 Reverse Harem 🎄 Scent Match 💕 Holiday Spice 🎄 Hockey Romance
Book 6 in the MVP: Most Valuable Pack series by Ari Wright, Knotty or Nice showcases the creativity that she brings to her stories. The story tropes may be similar to past books, but the characters are exciting and new and bring much different vibes to the series overall. The rivalry was a fun addition and the tension was even thicker due to said rivalry. While four love interests, Ari does a fantastic job making each stand out on their own, bringing their own qualities, strengths, and weaknesses to the forefront.
Noelle has tried and failed to find her scent match. Even using a matching service, her match stood her up. She is distraught but not giving up hope. About a year later she has another match or should I say, matches. Turns out these matches know the ones who stood her up last year. Through some turn of events, she finds herself snowed in with four alphas, who have all scent match her, but also happen to be part of rivals packs. Add in their sports rival as well, and yeah, tensions are high. Noelle is someone who is easy to love, because all she wants is to be loved. Never giving up, she was definitely not expecting to find 4 matches, but she isn’t necessarily upset about it.
Xander, Jett, Carson, Elias all bring something different to the table, despite them all being alphas. They are split into groups of two, being from rival packs, so they are careful around each other. How is it they each matched to Noelle though, as 2 different packs matching to the same person isn’t normal. Yet, each one provides Noelle with something she has been needing and longing for. She brings out the best in them as well. These alphas may bring a lot of masculinity to the story, but they provide many moments of sweetness and tenderness.
While Omegaverse stories are not usually my thing, I will never stop reading Ari’s amazing stories. Each one is fun, tantalizing, and beyond steamy. But there is a softness that comes to the surface as the story goes on. This book isn’t just about alphas finding their omega, but the found family and support that is created in doing so. If you want fun, easy to read, and just overall great vibes, this book is for you.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
