The tragedy and sheer volume of horror of the Holocaust is presented in this historical fiction novel. Having read The Diary of a Young Girl, Corri Ten Boom's personal account and having watched numerous movies about the Nazis' efforts to exterminate the Jews & other "undesirables" during WWII, I was still unprepared for this book.
It is imperative that people open their eyes to the hateful possibilities and evil actions perpetrated by man upon his fellow man. Simply knowing about the Holocaust, even knowing the numbers, cannot truly prepare one for what the prisoner suffered day to day in the concentration camps. J. Michael Dolan has brought this historical event to life with this well researched piece of literature.
The size of the book may be intimidating to some, but even more frightful is realizing how little one really knows about the events. This presentation will carry you along, faster than you expect as one seeks to know the outcome, even though we already know the history. But it is the dialogue and personal stories of the characters who were and are real life people that will make your heart soar and break.
You owe it to yourself to read something substantial. Make it this book.

1942-5/1/1945, Ciechanow (town). Noah Zabludowicz (narrator, # 73982), tells his side of them story of what his family endured during the WWII Holocaust.
Roza Robota (18, Isaiah’s daughter, sister, Shomeir group) also enlightens the reader with her version.

From my retired social work perspective, you often wonder if Rochele Gertner (Ala’s baby daughter) was of the lucky ones.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written WWII Holocaust historical fiction book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great WWII Holocaust movie, or better yet a mini TV series. Wasn’t as exciting (gory) as some I have read but I will still rate it at 5 stars.

Due to extreme circumstances in my life right now, I am still trying to read this book. I am only about half way through it. It is a well written book, the author takes you there. I look forward to being able to finish it.

This book is well-written, but a bit too much for me. Some of the imagery has honestly given me nightmares. (Specifically certain scenes to do with kids.)

I think that Dolan has done a good job of not sugar coating the horrors, but I can't bring myself to finish it. Honestly not finishing it is a shame though, since it is so well done.

Trumpets of Jericho by J. Michael Dolan is a fascinating account of World War II. The darkest time period in history. I am a huge fan on anything that shows me what it was like during that time era. The horrors of what people went through was an emotional journey unlike any other. I loved how historian, J. Michael Dolan, used both fictional and real characters for his book. It was easy to follow along. Loss, grief, and death followed every page. The plot was engaging. It portrayed a realistic telling of those events in 1944. I greatly appreciated how much history and research the writer did. It was like being teleported back in time. A time full of dangerous, deadly, and intense situations. Danger existed everywhere back then.

Trumpets of Jericho, is a must read for all. It is both an educational and entertaining story. S much history to relive and remember. Plus, there are some heroic figures I do not remember studying in school and have learned by reading this novel. One such heroine, was Roza Roberta. I was able to connect with her immediately. She fought against the wrongs of this horror from the Holocaust. She was a strong character that I really liked. The story took me straight back to Auschwitz, known as the death camp. I cried reading this...It was well-told. I can see this historical novel being a bestselling movie one day. I would so watch it! There are multiple themes associated with the crimes committed during this era. It was interesting to read. Overall, I recommend this powerful story, Trumpets of Jericho, to all readers.

This books is a must read for anyone wanting to know more about the holocaust. This author takes you there. He has done the research, and this book is a blend of fact and novel.
I have had some major things come up in my life, where I didn't have a lot of time to read. Anytime I picked up this book and started reading where I left off, I was transported back to the 1940's.

The Trumpets Of Jericho. What can I say? Before reading this absolute masterpiece, I was unaware that anything like it existed. Being a stricly non-fiction reader, I started reading Trumpets with a bit of skepticism. Myself being a (very amateur) historian, the storyline of most fiction novels tends to be hindered as I pay very close attention to factual accuracy (which is more often than not filled with mistakes) Here, however, J. Michael Dolan has created something quite special. Here is an author who brought an otherwise obscure story from the Holocaust to vivid life and has done the story and its characters the justice deserved - if 70 years overdue. A black and white place with people and events from what seems like a million years ago becomes vivid with color and emotion. You become friends with these persecuted Jews fighting for their lives. You feel the anxiety and fear the unpredictable actions of the sadistic SS who mill about the camp. You feel the excitement build up as the revolt gets closer and closer which will mean either death or freedom for these brave human beings. And the fact that this story is about the persecuted standing up to the Nazis makes it a feel good read despite the wrenching pain throughout. If you don't want to hear the true story, this isn't the book for you. J. Michael Dolan is going places.
