An entertaining history of the founding and early years of the Twycross Zoo in the United Kingdom written by one of its founders. The book would have been better if it had included more information about the Zoo's founders; its predecessor, a pet store; the early years of the Zoo; husbandry practices developed by the founders and the staff which led to successfully exhibiting and breeding many species which were not previously housed in captivity for extended periods of time or bred; and stories about some of the individual animals that inhabited the Zoo, rather than the broad brush overview that is presented in this short history. Nevertheless this book will be of interest to anyone who is a student of zoo history.
