Like Sheep With A Shepherd: a primer for elders in the church

Rate this book
Have you ever tried to get people to do something that you knew would be really great for them to do? You would think they would say, "I would love to do something that is great for me!" But as you know, it is easier said then done. People don’t always get it. They often don't see it the way you do. Sometimes they outright disagree. Now imagine that you have to train and coach people to help other people do what is great for them. And you cannot pay them any money! They are volunteers. Welcome to the world of true leadership. The reality is even if you can pay people, motivation comes from a place beyond money. This book is designed to help people who lead, or aspire to lead others. It is for people who want to know the heart and practical application of leadership of people.

This book is exactly what it says it is - a primer for elders in the church. More specifically, it gives relevant structure, challenge, and support to shepherding ministry at Perimeter Church (PCA). It is a working document and self-published by Perimeter.

Although particular to Perimeter, this is a good resource for onboarding new elders and resourcing/supporting existing elders. A reader may need to contextualize aspects of the book for one’s own ministry needs. The structure of the book and the appendix may inspire you to curate your own documents to guide the shepherding care in your local church.
