Years ago author Micah Shea had a dream about a sexy adventurer, seeing the man in perfect detail. He’s been using the hot fellow as his muse—and star of his books—ever since. He’s always assumed Declan Muse was just a figment of his imagination.

That all changes when he meets avid reader Trevor, who is the exact embodiment of Declan, down to the phoenix tattoo on his back. At first Micah is drawn to Trevor because of the uncanny resemblance to the man of his dreams, but it soon becomes more than that and Micah falls for the real thing.

Afraid of coming off as a psycho Micah is hesitant to tell Trevor about Declan Muse, but Trevor learns the truth and it all goes to hell. Now Micah only has a short time to convince Trevor he isn’t a psycho and that their relationship deserves a chance at a future.

Needed more

This one has a lot of focus on the sex and the story of his muse is underdone. I wanted less sex, more of the plot

3.5 STARS

This short story has been released at the perfect time of year. As the lucky authors, bloggers and readers head off to San Diego for GRL 2015, the rest of us can read books like this and imagine that orgies with porn stars really do go on behind the scenes at these conventions.

Micah Shea has just arrived at the Queer Town book convention, trying to forget that his ex-lover is currently off on a romantic getaway with his secretary. And could there be a better place to forget, considering the moment he enters the hotel he’s invited to an orgy, which includes his favourite porn star. It’s at the orgy that he first sees Trevor, who is a match for the star of Micah’s popular action novels from the tattoo on his back to the birthmark on his leg. Micah is immediately drawn to the fascinating man and they promptly end up in bed together. But how can Micah explain the freaky coincidence of his muse being an exact match for his new lover?

This story has a whole lot of smut though, admittedly, it’s a whole lot of enjoyable smut. The story may only be thirty-seven pages but main character Micah manages to have on page sex six (I think) times and with three different people. But somehow the author makes that work. The story is set over one weekend and the narrative between the sex scenes gives us insight into Micah and nudges the plot along. The result is a quick to read tale that’s light and fun with an interesting twist thrown in at the end.

If you’ve got a spare hour and need a book to fill the spot, then this one is certainly entertaining.

I've to admit that I only picked up this book for a challenge, but I enjoyed it and will check out more books from this author.

Muse is a real short book, and it’s mainly an erotica, which means that there is more sex than storyline. It’s not lacking a plot completely, though. What was there was very intriguing to me. Micah is an author with a popular series about a character called Declan Muse. He envisioned his character right as he was about to give up writing, and his books were popular enough that he attends a m/m romance author and reader convention. Having attended GRL one year, I am insanely curious if what happens at this book convention is based off something that happened or happens at real book conventions. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

When a reader points out to Micah that a man at the convention matches Declan Muse’s physical description right down to his tattoos, Micah has to see him. Immediately there is a connection, though it appears to be sexual at first, it does seem to develop quickly. Trevor and Micah want to see what will happen after the weekend. Until someone tells Trevor that he is the embodiment of Micah’s character. How did Micah come up with Declan without ever meeting Trevor before? There is a touch of paranormal quality to the story that I enjoyed.

There is quite a bit of sex in this book, orgy scenes and random hook-ups. Though I prefer my books to have more substance, I can appreciate erotic content. My only complaint about the book is that there was no talk of protection in all these encounters even though most take place with strangers. I don’t know if the author didn’t want to take away from the heat of the moment by taking time for the character to open a condom, or if it’s meant to be implied, but the lack of condom talk did make me take notice.. It was a good short erotica though and I really love this author’s other books. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of erotica.

I read and review this book a while back. But when I got offer the chance to read the next book in teh series, it made sense to read it again. Second time around and the magic is still there. I'd even say I enjoyed it a lot better this time around.

The story is set around an authors/readers conference at a Las Vegas hotel. There's so much sexy times going on and Micah an M/M author meets a guy, Trevor, who looks exactly like the lead character in his popular book series, down to the tattoo and birthmark. There's instant attraction between the two of them and they did heat up almost every available space in the hotel. *wink* But what happens when Trevor finds out his uncanny resemblance to a fictional character?

This is a great quickie. The erotica is done really well and you can't help getting hot under the collar. There are also tender moments that getting you sighing with pleasure. I certainly think second time of reading this was twice as nice so I'm upgrading my rating for this.

this book was everything i thought it would be when I read the blurb, hot and sweet.
I'm not sure why all the books I've read revolving book conferences are always real sweet but they all have been. maybe it's because of how the author feels after being to one.
really enjoyed and looking forward to more from this series
