I didn't fully enjoy this book, but I was starting with the last published book of the series featuring Korean War Vet, ex newspaper reporter and now private detective Peter Bragg. This one involves contact from a woman who had called him years ago when he was still a reporter saying she was planning to jump to her death from a bridge (well, it was in San Francisco) and he had been able to help her over the phone and then getting suicide prevention to call her. Present time she is now a psychic and has seen a vision of area of land in California where dead bodies have been getting recently buried by a possible serial killer.
The tip is pursued and the field of death is found at the Jack London State Historic Park (https://jacklondonpark.com/). I did enjoy the visit to Glen Ellen, CA and many things did ring true in this detective story based on Lynch's own life experience. He died in 2008 but this book seemed to me like a book written in the 50's with some out-of-date references regarding men/women.
Who knows? I may check out another one of these Bragg books since they are available through....ta da da da...KINDLE UNLIMITED!

DIE FOR ME by JACK BRAGG (Originally published under WOLF HOUSE)

Do you believe in psychics? Peter Bragg is beginning to. A previous newspaper journalist, Jack has turned his hand to becoming a Private Investigator.

Receiving a call from a woman in his past, he is drawn into a mass murder case. The woman is a self-described psychic and she has seen lots of bodies .. in her visions. But what really scares her is that she's afraid that she is next to die.

Bragg is a likeable guy.. for the most part. He's got some issues, but he's really a good guy just making his way in the world. There's nothing he likes better than to be involved in a case. Luckily, the police don't mind his sticking his nose in the middle of this. That's how you can tell this is fiction.

This is an older book, part of a series featuring Peter Bragg. The author passed away in 2008. All of his books are being given new covers and re-published. I gave this one 5 stars. It reminds me of the murder mysteries written in the 70s and 80s. Pure mystery .. little or no sex scenes.. but a little flirtation here and there. You have to use your imagination if you want more.

I'm going back to start at the beginning of the series. I'm almost positive it will be a good one.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.

Each Jack Bragg thriller is an exciting new adventure and stands on its own. This is the best yet, as Bragg is drawn in to a mass murder by a woman from his past. It is possibly one of the most difficult to solve crime novels I have read. Bragg is a tortured character, and he is portrayed in most realistic terms. The book is much more than a thriller as so much is going on at many levels. It will hold your attention and make you thirst for more.

Maribeth from his past, asks PI Peter Bragg for help. ‘Help me’ she says ‘I trust you’, then tells him a fantastical story about buried bodies and somehow she is threatened with violence and death too.

Did I like the characters?
Maribeth, psychic seems a very plausible woman and her niece a great individual. As in life, Lynch allowed his characters to grow, including Peter Bragg Private Investigator himself who was willing to give anything a listen to. There were a couple of characters I would have like him to have become involved with, but like all good stories what seems obvious doesn't necessarily happen!

It was great that the characters in the police did not distract from Bragg himself and I particularly liked how he reacted with Rachel the [rare] female detective in the department who grew stronger throughout the book.

What did I like best?

I really liked Lynch’s style of writing it, it's kind of manly, no nonsense. He manages to pack a lot of good interesting information in that flows seamlessly with the plot. This is a book of action with one lead being followed by the next and the next giving a constant stream of small excitements that kept me reading to the end.

Lynch draws us great pictures with his words for instance Bragg’s friend Max Bolero whose business Commando Seaplanes was nothing more than a few planes and more projects being worked on by a number of 'enthusiasts', would take him to survey the land from the air:
'and it finally dawned on me. Max wasn’t running just a seaplane business down there on that south shore of Richardson Bay in Sausalito; on the side he was running a playground for grownups.'

In describing Max’s talents and his friend a retired anthropologist working on one of the ‘projects’ with bits of aircraft, he writes this great line:
“He was an ace mechanic, and chances were he could have built the P-51 replica the older fellow wanted all by himself using just a wrench and his Swiss Army knife.”

Of course this is primarily a book where there is a killer and lots of bodies, males, females and children without any real connection between them, but there is a lot of relationship conundrums, not just the story of a search for the bodies and who did it.

I enjoyed the abundance of background woven into the storyline which so nicely done, giving lots of information in a pleasurable read.

This is a real detective story, going from one clue to another trying to make sense of it all getting closer. When they finally link who the killer is the chase is on and it is an exciting one.

The final chapter gives Bragg some attention of his own. Does he get the girl? Which girl? Where does he go from here?

What was I not sure about?
The title and cover of the book was confusing for me because it didn't feel like it fit the novel at all.

Many thanks to the Publisher for a copy via NetGalley to read and review.

The wheel is come full circle. - William Shakespeare

This book was originally copyrighted in 2002 under the name WOLF HOUSE. I am glad that Brash Books decided to republish this offering of Jack Lynch's. Lynch passed away in 2008 but his work lives on, which is a good thing.

DIE FOR ME is a well written private detective novel featuring Peter Bragg. Bragg gets a call from a psychic that he talked to years ago while he was a reporter for a San Francisco newspaper. At that time he helped prevent this woman from committing suicide. Now this psychic has seen a field (in a vision) where a number of bodies have been buried after being brutally murdered, and she fears for her own life. And she asks Bragg to figure out where this field is.

A touch of the paranormal, a serial killer, relationship problems, strong women, and Bragg himself - a motivated PI who asks the right questions and is diligent in wanting to find out the answers - make this an entertaining book that I finished much too quickly.

I liked protagonist Peter Bragg. I thought the author did a fine job in developing his character. I also especially liked Rachel Goodwin, the only female detective in the Violent Crimes Unit of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department. In fact, there were many characters I liked in this book.

The book flowed well and was only a little dated feeling even though written so many years ago. I liked it well enough that I plan on reading some more of the series.

NOTE: I received this book from Brash Books through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.

Imagine you’re a detective and get a call from a woman who called you 12 years ago when you worked for a newspaper – back then she called to tell you she was about to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge – and you talked her down and saved her life.

Now she’s calling to tell you that she has worked these past few years as something of a psychic – that she was picking up the thoughts of a friend when she called 12 years ago who did kill herself – and that she has had feeling or images of many buried bodies and north of San Francisco and hopes you can help.

Suddenly Bragg is thrust into a hunt for what will turn out two mass graves, the serial killer, and an emptiness caused by all of this and by his love, Allison, whose art, she says, is hampered by Bragg’s sometime violent job – she seems to have a new boyfriend – and Bragg finds himself as well the focus of three women who want to make love to him.

Jack Lynch is so good that although I owned many of the Bragg books I have only allowed myself to read one a month – truly Lynch’s death was a loss for all mystery fans.

Bragg is hired by a woman he once saved from suicide on his last day as a reporter years before. She's a psychic these days and has forseen her death at the hands of a serial killer. She wants the P.I. to help her.

While not sure he believes in psychics, Bragg believes enough to try to find the bodies she saw in a vision. The descriptions of the site leads him to Jack London State Park and they start digging up bodies.

Two sites are found and the curious thing is all victims have I.D. on them. Money, cards, jewelry all still there. No particular type. Old, young, beautiful, ugly, a twelve year old boy, a sixteen year old girl, a couple of hoodlums.

Bragg and a woman detective are on the case, Bragg unofficially, as they try to figure how all the victims are connected, they can find nothing, and maybe get a line on the killer.

Nicely paced action thriller.

Totally intriguing read!! The characters were well defined, vivid,
believable, and engaging. Each one added their own flavor to
the story.
There is plenty of mystery, drama, suspense, utterly unpredictable
plot accompanied by captivating writing. The tension was thick
and well sustained throughout the story.
The author was able to mix the past and present together
effortlessly. The author weaves a story of intrigue, a tangled
web of clues and uncontrollable grief.
The author’s setting was in the Jack London State Park area.
The historical facts about this Park added to the story.
This is the eighth book in the Peter Bragg series. It can be read
as a stand alone. Since this was his first book for me, I look
forward to reading the series from the start.
Thank you to Net Gallery and Brash Books for this eBook.
My opinion is my own.

And did the psychic call it right?
Well she certainly found them the killing or burial ground - and right by the Jack London House of the Wolves.
She also maybe called it right when she sensed danger - but for whom, and from whom, and why?
A fairly typical detective novel with a baddy and some goodies and a protector in the form of Jack Bragg - so some of the usual sexism and male chivalry that one has to expect in these type of novels. But don't let that put you off. It is well written and the story has enough twists and turns to satisfy the crime aficionado. A suitable story in this series that never fails to be enjoyed.

For me, this was a good police procedural novel that never really climbed to the heights it could have.

On the positive side, Peter Bragg is an excellent character. Straight from the crime noir pages of the 50's, he is a private eye in San Francisco that brings to mind a lot of the famous P.I.'s through the years. Not a copy of any one in particular but, instead, a set of traits and characteristics that truly make him stand out as his own person.

Also, I do love books set in San Fran so this was a bit of a treat as well. Some great locales used throughout the story that helped connect me to what was going on.

The downer for me - and is every time I come across it - is the psychic/medium. It always stretches my sense of belief in a storyline, especially when it is a crime-solving psychic. This book was no different. Not going to speak badly of it - I just don't enjoy it.

Die For Me might not be the best in this series, but it's still a very entertaining way to spend a few evenings. I have enjoyed this series and getting to know Peter Bragg, former reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle turned PI.

This yarn involves a psychic, a serial killer, and a some soul searching by our intrepid Mr. Bragg. The story has a nice plot twist and some interesting characters for Bragg to meet, as well as a few from past books. This is a story of revenge and lives destroyed as a result-- a rather depressing story in its own way. As usual, there's a bit of credulity stretching, but it can be forgiven as Lynch unwinds the story and leads us to the solution.

I have to admit to sussing out the perp a bit sooner than the actual reveal, but that didn't really detract from my enjoyment. If anything did, however, it was the way Lynch painted Bragg into a proverbial corner emotionally with respect to his sometime girlfriend who appears to have decided life would be better without him in it. Bragg seems deeply distressed by this, turning down not one, but two attractive alternatives and, while one can admire his character in this matter, I just wasn't satisfied with how this played out.

All in all, this has been a fun series and I'm glad I discovered it. Recommended for fans of the genre.

I picked up this book at a library book sale and read it in one day while recovering from a vacation. I live near Jack London State Park and visit it often, but I had never heard of the book or the author, who, according to the biography worked for a San Francisco newspaper before writing a series of mysteries. The book is a sort of noir style with hard-boiled private investigator but the style and story were accessible and interesting. I liked the way the author handled the precipitating incident: a psychic has visualized bodies in an area north of the city and it turns out that it is Jack London State Park. The elderly lady who has these visions is treated with respect and compassion, especially when she feels that she could become a target of the killer. This was a serendipitous find at the book sale and I will pass this on to mystery fans here in Sonoma County.

One of the best thrillers ever! If ever there was a book that needed to be a movie, this is it. The first chapter captured my attention with the lead in to the story that had me holding my breath. When I told my grandson about it, he couldn’t wait to hear the outcome. The many murders left me guessing, like the characters in the book, how were they connected and who did it. I had a hunch, but had to wait for it to play out. The ending could not have been better. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more.

Bragg mystery, maybe best one yet

Very good Bragg noir, maybe his best one! I've read most of the Bragg books and have liked them all. This story was really good, and if you like the PI genre, pick them up. You'll like them!

Peter Bragg, old-school detective, gets a visit from someone he used to know. She’s working as a psychic now, and the spirits are restless indeed. Not only does she see disquieting visions of dead people that haven’t been discovered yet, but she also sees a threat that is closer and more personal. She fears she may become a victim as well. Thanks go to Brash Books and Net Galley for permitting me to read this via DRC; originally written in the latter part of the 20th century, they are being re-released digitally now.

I confess that a few times, in reading this absorbing novel, my BS meter started ticking. This detective apparently has no income, yet he is spending plenty and refuses to bill Marianne, the psychic with the unsettling news. And as the hillside is combed by legions of cops, I wondered where the cadaver dogs are. Couldn’t they just bring them out to the site, once it is found, and let them sniff up the bodies?

But as I may have mentioned before (and before, and before), a really good writer can make me believe anything, and a lousy one can’t sell me a thing. And the fact is, Lynch is a good writer. So I set aside my snarky moment of disbelief and dove in to see where this story was headed.

Ultimately, there are a surprising number of unquiet spirits resting in the hills near Sonoma. Who could have a grudge against this many people? Is it possible Marianne is involved in it somehow? The suggestion that one person may have been the intended victim and the rest merely killed as window dressing is quickly laid to rest. That’s not it. And just wait till you see what’s behind it all!

Well my friends, the world is full of crazy folks. Fortunately, it’s also full of mystery and detective novel mavens. And as I gnawed voraciously at this episode in the Bragg series, I found myself wishing Lynch were still among us so he could introduce us to a few more fictional nut bars.

Sadly, he isn’t, and he can’t, but the good news is that you can get this one. If you love a good detective novel, you should snap up the whole series. It’s hard to put down once you begin! And it’s available in August. I'll bet you could order it now. By the time it comes, it will be a surprise, one you gave yourself.

Are you still here? Go! Get this story. You’ll be glad you did.

**Book provided by NetGalley for an honest review**

Peter Bragg is a former newspaper reporter turned private investigator. Maribeth is a psychic that was talked down from a bridge by Bragg when he was on his last day on the job as a reporter. Maribeth calls on Bragg once more to save her life. Bragg takes the case without reservation after hearing Maribeth's story. Maribeth is aware of a mass grave and fears her life will be next and she'll join the others. Can Bragg help find the killer before the killer finds Maribeth? Let the sleuthing begin!

Let me start by saying I have not read ANY of the books in this series! I jumped in on book 8 not having any prior knowledge of the main characters' background/history. This may or may not have changed the way I felt about Allison France and how she treated Bragg. Allison was Bragg's girlfriend, and that term is being used loosely.

Bragg begins his investigation by speaking with Detective Sergeant Barry Smith of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department. Then Bragg goes to meet Maribeth in person only to find her niece Bobby there, whom he apparently knows from a previous book. Maribeth is in her 60's, Bobby in her 20's and Bragg ?? I feel kinda out of sorts with the not knowing the history with them, but they all get along.

The story was interesting, but the blurb gives an impression that the book is fast paced and thrilling when it falls short of that. The story lacks an urgency to solve the crime and keep my heart pumping fast with anticipation. The book was written very well, just slower than I would have liked for myself.

I do have to say I love the side characters though! Detective Rachel Goodwin was my favorite character, and I was hoping Bragg and her would hook up. Also there is a character that earns the biggest douche award from me, Pershing, from the Department of Justice, congrats douche! If you are the reader that appreciates a steady paced whodunit then this is the book for you! Bragg is a very likeable character, and I love how he is able to handle sexual advances from the women in his life. If you can't tame him, don't poke him. My advice for Bragg lovers, lol...

Thanks to netgalley.com and Brash Books for the advance copy for my review.

I had Jack Lynch recommended to me, by Joan and Annie, co-owners of the now closed Cousin's Used Bookstore and never came across any of his books.

So I was excited to see 'Die For Me', on netgalley.com and even more that Brash Books approved my request.

Originally released in 2002, titled as Wolf House, takes place in the 80's, it's hard-boiled fiction at it's best and you'll believe in psychic's at least for a while.

This was a totally enjoyable read, like Lynch's writing style and that he used his own life experience molding his Peter Bragg character. It made for some great reading, could relate to it, full of twist and turns and like the fast pace to it.

Feel like Lynch with his style, he makes you read every word, and you skip nothing in his writing.

Peter Bragg's a likeable character, a retired newsman, turned private detective, believable and at his best when involved in a case. Lynch put a great support cast around Bragg, has the knack to create vivid likable characters and some easily could have had series created about themselves.

Sheriff Detective Sgt. Barry Smith and Sheriff Detective Rachel Goodwin would make for some good reading in their own series. Then Maribeth, Bobbie, Karen Ellis, girlfriend Allison France and even the bad guy all play important roles, they stand out in the storyline and make it all workout perfectly.

Life goes full circle for Bragg. When the lady who's life he saved from suicide, on his final day as a reporter, calls him.

Let's him know she's a psychic, has a vision about a burial site near a vineyard in Sonoma and Bragg brings it to the police. I really like the premise that the police let him be involved in the case.

Bragg in his own way, puts the pieces together and ultimately solves the case. You'll have to read to find out how he does it.

Highly recommend reading Jack Lynch. Just wish we had more than just the eight Peter Bragg to enjoy. Absolutely love that were seeing hard to find, long out of print books being reissued as ebooks.

This is the second thriller written by Jack Lynch that I've read recently. "Die For Me" is being re-released by Brash Books. Before he died in 2008 Lynch wrote eight "Peter Bragg" mysteries. I'm so happy that Brash Books publishing decided to reissue them. Lynch's thrillers remind me of John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee books, another author that is sadly missed. Both authors knew how to write spectacular characters, their private detectives are so likable, strong and interesting you just can't put the book down.

This time Peter Bragg is hired by a psychic. Maribeth is reluctant to go to the police and tell them her vision of multiple murder and graves, she's sure they will think she's a crank. But she contacts Bragg to be her mouthpiece when she continues to see this brutal vision, and bodies continue to be added to her nightmare. The worst thing about her psychic vision is that Meribeth feels she is in mortal danger from this serial killer.

Bragg convinces the police to listen to Maribeth and with some searching, a mass grave is found. Now Bragg has to help the police find a connection between the victims as it seems the only way of finding the killer. Bragg also has to keep an eye on Maribeth, just in case her feelings about her own impending death are correct.

Lynch was a master writer. His expertise shows in this, the final Bragg mystery. This was by far a five star novel and if I were you I'd go back and read all the newly re-published Bragg books. I read this one in one gulp, I stayed up until the sun started to peak through the curtains, it was that good. Here's a list of all eight books. I know you'll enjoy them.

I received this via NetGalley to give an honest review.
The synopsis is what got me to want to read this book, and it was a good book but I felt it was rushed so to speak. The police procedures with the psychic didn't feel real to me.
You have Bragg who use to work for the newspaper, while working there so many years ago he got a strange call from a lady who was going to kill herself and he pretty much saved her from doing it. Now she has called him back to discuss the fact that she believes that there are bodies buried somewhere though she isn't sure where. We go on a chase of finding where exactly these bodies are while trying to see if this psychic will give out more information as she sees it.
I didn't really get into the whole psychic thing as it didn't feel "real" in a sense. It felt like it was forced to me as she was very vague on details and what not. I do understand that a psychic normally doesn't have all the answers or details to visions or what not. Also the conversation that started out in the book between Bragg and this woman seemed to be on the blah side of things, at times I felt it was repetitive on asking questions or answering things.
The psychic believes herself to be next on the list of this serial killer but at the end who exactly is this killer targeting? This is one of those books that has a good mystery and has you wondering who is the killer exactly?
Between Bragg, a psychic, and a detective all of it will come together but will it be too late for the latest victim?
There is no graphic scenes, no sex mentioned. It is a regular old mystery book that was good. I think a majority of people would enjoy it and it is a good stand alone.

Didn’t realize until I was near the end that I’d read another book in this series, of which this is the eighth; I blame it on the first person point of view.
A former reporter/now PI hears from a woman he once saved; she’s now a psychic, and tells him she pictured a body dump, and he has to find it. Despite the paucity of clues she gives him, and always remembering that this kind of plot twist is going to be convenient, I found the way it was all worked out convincing and logical, which put me in a good mood for the rest of the novel.
The rescue of the damsel in distress, while not eminently predictable, still happened the way I thought it would, albeit by someone other than the hero. The killer also turned out to be the most obvious, the one character who really didn’t have to be in the story. The most interesting part is all the women, many of whom are more interested in him than he is in them. I particularly liked the female detective, and wish there had been more on her; if there are more books in this series, I hope she’s in them. On the other hand, his soon-to-be-ex seems to only be there to tie up loose ends from previous books, and while at first I liked the coincidental meeting with the psychic’s niece, she soured me quickly.
In general, I liked it well enough, a serviceable mystery/thriller.

A psychic saved from suicide by Peter Bragg now calls him for help. She is having visions of bodies that are buried. The bodies aren't buried in a cemetery . Peter is a private investigator. She is afraid that she will become a body buried with the rest of them. Peter agrees to investigate. Can he help the psychic? Will he find the bodies?
Who is killing these people? Why? The psychic can't see how the killer is. She only knows it is a spot that has ruins by it. What will Peter do?

The mystery is excellent as it has a few surprises in it. I was intrigued with the how, why and who killed these people. It was very intriguing as how Peter was going to find the mass graves. Yes, there is more than one mass grave. I have not read any of the author's works before. I do think you can read this without having read the others. However, I enjoyed the mystery so much that I will be reading the other Bragg mysteries. I am saddened by the fact that he is deceased as I would had like to read his future novels.

Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book free from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I was not obliged to write a favorable review, or even any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Given To Me For An Honest Review

Die For Me: A Bragg Thriller by Jack Lynch is a real page turner. Make sure you have your seatbelt on tightly because you're going on one wild ride. Once you open this book, it will grab you, hold you down tightly and you'll watch those pages turn and turn and turn some more until you get to the last one. Then you'll go back to re-read it again and again. There are twists and turns to make it even better. You are going to love this book. I sure did. A psychic asks for help. She has been having visions of murders and graves. Her worst vision -- her own murder. Peter Bragg agrees to help her tell the police of her visions. He also knows that he also has to watch her now for her safety. Is the killer found? Are more murders done? The great thing about this book, it puts your imagination to work overtime. I love it! I gave this book 5 stars but wish I could have given it more because it deserves more. I highly recommend this book to everyone especially to those who enjoy reading mysteries, suspense, and crime thrillers. All I can say is FANTASTIC!!!! Wish that there would be more.

Peter Bragg is a guy who gave up his job on a San Francisco newspaper and is now pursuing his career as a private detective. Suddenly his past has caught up with him and now Marianne, a woman he once saved from a dive off the Golden Gate Bridge, is calling to request his help. She has discovered she has a “gift” and is now working as a psychic consultant. Recently she has had a vision of the hillside burial site of victims of violent unsolved crimes. The only problem is that in that same vision she has also seen her own future as it relates to this case and that future is pretty grim. With the help of Sonoma County Sheriff’s Detective Barry Smith, Bragg sets out to discover the elusive burial site and when they do what they discover is nothing short of mind boggling.

This is an above average tale featuring an old school detective. While the damsel in distress story line is familiar, author Jack Lynch has managed to give it a new spin and make it new utilizing equal parts imagination and forceful literary skills. To reveal more would be a crime but for lovers of the books of Dashiell Hammitt and James M. Cain this is a perfect page turner to start your summer.

I loved the way the book started out, with a phone call from a unknown yet soon remembered woman. From there, it only got better.

Bragg is a sort of noir character in a modern world. He eschews cell phones and prefers to do his detective work hands-on rather than via the internet. That’s how he ends up investigating a serial killer at a state park in Northern California. What I don’t understand is why every woman seems to want him. He seems to be a bit of a mess, emotionally speaking, yet every woman in the book is drawn to him. I don’t know if that was the author’s intent – to make him a roguish sort that attracts women without effort – or if it was perhaps a subconscious part of the author that thought that’s how detectives should be.

The writing is superb. One twist and turn after another. I’m not sure how I missed this series to begin with but I’m definitely going back and picking it up. I’d like to see how Bragg got his start and see how he progresses through the years. If the rest are anything like Die for Me, I won’t be disappointed.

Die for Me by Jack Lynch

Fiction, Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, Private Detective

This is the eighth and final book in the Peter Bragg series. Maribeth is a psychic. In the past, Peter saved Maribeth’s life when she was about to commit suicide. Now she is having visions of dead bodies and they are beginning to haunt her. She wants someone to find them and that someone is Peter Bragg. He hires a pilot and is accompanied by a forensic anthropologist – a bone detective to fly over areas to see if they recognize an area that could be a body dump. When they land and survey the area, they learn the property had been home to Jack London. What they find surprises all of them.

The story has a steady pace, and the characters are developed. It is written in the first-person point of view. The book is somewhat dated since it was written before cell phones and other modern technology, but I thoroughly enjoyed that fact. I was sad to learn of Jack Lynch’s passing and this would be the final Bragg mystery. If you like hard-boiled fiction with a witty private investigator, you will enjoy this book too.

Thank you to NetGalley and Brash Books for Die For Me by Jack Lynch, a superb serial killer mystery. This is my first Peter Bragg thriller and I am most certainly going to read the seven other Brash books by Jack Lynch. Peter Bragg’s voice is human yet knowledgeable and believable. Bragg does not judge and seems to know how to keep his thoughts to himself. Bragg is adept at handling psychic Maribeth (with whom he has past history). Taking the psychic’s visions to the police, Bragg convinces them as well as himself that there really is some psycho who has killed and buried a good number of people. Why? is not so easy to figure out. As more and more bodies are discovered in various parts of Jack London State Park, Bragg races against time trying to locate a calculating killer who is a threat to Maribeth. I enjoyed the pace of this novel and the mystery was compelling. Bragg easily carries this book to a riveting showdown. I highly recommend this crime thriller to those who love serial killer books.

Well-written, But Marred by Inconsistencies, 1 July 2015

Jack Lynch died in 2008 and this is therefore the last in a line of eight Bragg thrillers but can be read as a stand-alone story.

At an early stage the reader is asked to suspend disbelief when a psychic contacts our private eye hero to tell him of her suspicions that several bodies have been buried somewhere in the area. Fortunately the police officer who is contacted takes the story seriously and so begins the hunt for the bodies and ultimately the killer.

The plot develops well, the characters are well formed and the writing is excellent so it may seem churlish to comment on areas which just didn’t ring true. After all it is a work of fiction. Maybe fiction but not fantasy. There are just too many coincidences and flaws to be able to give this novel more than three stars but it is so well written that it can be recommended as a good read…….as long as inconsistencies don’t worry you too much.-- mr zorg

I would like to thank Brash Book and NetGalley for providing me with an electronic copy to review. Scared for her life and full of information she psychically obtained about a serial murderer, Maribeth Robbins gets in touch with a person from her past. Private Detective Peter Bragg was a reporter many years before when he sucessfully talked Maribeth out of committing suicide. When her predictions regarding the killer's burial site comes true, Maribeth is unwillingly thrust into the spotlight. Die for Me features a great plot, fast paced action, and an explosive conclusion. This is the first book that I have read with Peter Bragg, but having prior knowledge about the character was not necessary to enjoy the story. His combination of instinct and intelligence make Bragg a very interesting character and one I would like to know more about. I recommend this book to readers who like police procedural novels and mystery/thrillers.
