Ella Summers has been writing stories for as long as she could read; she's been coming up with tall tales even longer than that. One of her early year masterpieces was a story about a pigtailed princess and her dragon sidekick. Nowadays, she still writes fantasy. She likes books with layered plots, lots of action and adventure, and a touch of romance. When she is not busy writing or spending time with her two young children, she makes the world safe by fighting robots.
Originally from the U.S., Ella currently resides in Switzerland. She is the author of Sorcery and Science, a fantasy adventure series set in a world splintered by magic and technology.
I really liked the storyline but it was a little distracting bc each book was not necessarily in order. So, each book you had to try to figure out where each character was in the storyline, very distracting. Otherwise, very good!
She is absolutely wonderful! I love to read her books! Never disappointed, she is totally amazing. My favorite series is still her 'Dragon Born Series'. If you enjoy fantasy books...please read these. I assure you you will love them as much as I do!!
This was not for me, didn't like it, found it boring, and hard to keep reading it. I recommend you not reading this if you value your time. Long winded and boring is the best words to describe this.
DNFd at 15% for awkward writing snd bad pacing. I really loved her newer stuff but this writing feels more like "unedited first draft from high school creative writing class," than polished work. The nomenclature/world-building is so silly it is hard to take seriously and there is a disturbing amount of repetetive exposition in unexpected places.
Summary: 5 stars. Recommended for people who like fast-paced fantasy with complex characters, great world-building, and lots of action.
This collection has the first five books in the Sorcery and Science series. I’ve previously reviewed the individual books in the collection.
This is a great fantasy series with an original premise. The setting is a world where there’s both magic and technology. If you like airships, explosions, action, and intrigue with your fantasy, you'll enjoy this series.
The writing is good, the characters are well-developed and there’s great chemistry (and sometimes romance) between them, and the story really moves fast.
Each book alone is a separate adventure, but after reading a bunch of books in the series you can see that it’s all leading up to something bigger. I can’t wait for the other books to come out so I can see how the story ultimately plays out.
I just could not stop reading. The characters are so wonderful. Each story is a little more of each character! Some story's tie the characters together and tell there stories. I love every page. Also the difference races. That was truly grand!!! Recommend for everyone!!
I liked this book. Tech doesn't work in some places. Magic works everywhere. Magic here is enhanced abilities not spells. People have their own agendas.
