This book proved to be an all-around fascinating read. I originally picked it up as general way to learn about the physiology and behavior of bears, but I was quite surprised to find this book also serves as something of a cultural history of bear hunting. The issue of trophy hunting is hotly contested and it's an area I myself feel quite divided on. With that said, East creates and develops a piece that is both comprehensive and informational regardless of your stance on the matter. In total, this book proves to be an interesting read, managing to successfully encapsulate a very different cultural point in time.
