"Deafening gun fire sounded again, then three men came into sight. I remember sparking. The TV crackled and went dead as I pulled the energy from it. A streak of electric blue shot from my hand hitting the figure that came around the door frame. He fell to the ground and it didn’t take but half a second to feel the pull of his own internal electrical workings. I drew from him, and he was left just as dead as the television. Two left. They raised their weapons. I felt the surge pulsing, taking over. I heard Sura scream. Everything seemed to explode in flickers of white and blue."
Running from the experimental grip of the Exodus Company, 4 must rely on strangers with familiar powers.
The book hooked me in pretty quick. The characters are a lot of fun and easy to get attached to (or hate as is called for). It has a nice pace to it that makes it a quick read. I'm excited to jump into the next one in the series. I'd certainly recommend to anyone who enjoys some good sci-fi, especially in the realm of people with special powers.
Wow! What a fantastic start to what I hope will be a long, long series, containing complex characters, some of whom were far too realistically unlikable. It was a great summer read, with strong character development. The writing had plenty of twists & turns to keep a reader guessing, along with one HUGE surprise. My only complaint is that it was too short! :) Let's hope this becomes a movie in the near future, particularly once a few more books are added to the series.
Awesome book! At first I was curious about what happened after the tragic event but at the end, it all made since! Awesome job, Arylias! I can't wait to read the second book! XD x3
