The recent explosion of unsolicited material written for the film industry has largely produced a mountain of wasted paper. The few who achieve success do so because they have shed the blood, sweat, and tears necessary to master the elaborate art and craft of screenwriting. This volume navigates a relatively painless path through the screenwriting labyrinth and offers an easy to digest step-by-step guide to writing a script from inception to completion. Areas addressed include research and development; genre; story and plot; audience; character; dialogue; and drafts. A glossary of commonly used jargon to further demystify the process is also included.
Much better than many of the better known screenwriting tomes as it is simply a screenwriter and writing teacher advising you on how to develop yourself , remain true to your best ideas and survive from scribbling.
It's not selling a dream just advice on how to improve and persist if you have a writerly instinct rather than see screenwriting as a quick way to cash, fame and a funky lifestyle.
this is one book i was waiting for soo long to read,i should confess it cleared all the doubts i had regarding how to bring a storyline to screenplay,
the book doesn't make you a script writer overnight, but it does make you think from a script writer's view. the author has clearly penned the way we need to approach scriptwriting, the research work which has to be done while writing one.
it's concise nature makes us glued to the book(but only for who has a passion in screen writing). one can recommend this diminutive book for budding script writers and for who dream about writing a script one day.
Writing a screen play- a definite place in my collection,
