Bethany’s upbringing was that of fear, on everything. Never trust, never believe someone is on your side, what her mother told her was endless. Other Amish mothers let their children play outside, the freedom to run and play. Harvest and planting when help came for her mother’s field. The stories and joy these women seemed to have. Now her mother says to pick one of the men out in the field, or she will do it. Marriage, was not something she thought of or wanted, the though made her sick. Mark comes into her life, taking her out in the rain to play, and laughter rolled out of her, she felt free. A laughter of a thousands laughs, as though transformed. This is a haunting story, of a young woman coming out of a womb, seeing and feeling life for the first time,
Nice short story. What does a young Amish girl when her mother raises her to be afraid of everything, then dies unexpectedly? And what does she do when she finds her mother had some secrets she never knew about? Where does God fit into all this? Was able to read while waiting for several appointments...a fun way to pass the time!
book 8, of fairfield amish romance. oh. papa dies of heart attack, mama dies of a blood clot, bethany and mark, find love, you must read to see how and when.
This book had possibilities but geez...spellchecker and grammar checker would have caught the worst errors.
Bonnets. Bonnets are not worn in the house. Those are prayer Capps and any Amish novelist should know that.
The handling of the burial was not correct either. And where was the bishop when her mother was treating her so badly.
And the Amish love interest. No Amish young man would put his arm around a girl he just met IF he was a proper young man. And this one is.
The ONLY reason it gets two stars is a unique idea but do you really think a mother would be that hateful after being sweet and loving elsewhere? I don't buy it.
This was a free book. Won't be reading any more by this author.
