This book provides a fresh, exciting, and reader-friendly study of the Ancient Egyptian history, which has suffered and continues to suffer from ingrained prejudices. The book, therefore, brings to A. Historical events that have been ignored by many Egyptologists because of the risk of contradicting popular religions. The facts presented in this book are simple, straightforward and stunning, showing that the major characters in the Bible were actually Egyptian Pharaohs, and not the enemies of Egypt. B. A pretty nice read if you want to explore different opinions behind Egypt's past that aren't shrouded in misconceptions or religiously placed bias. The book encourages you to have an opinion on everything and to question everything which is nice because the book will make you do just that.
Although the book does have sources it doesn't site them as you read, instead it has a bibliography in the back. This can get a little annoying when the author starts forming paragraphs based on evidence that can come off as more of an opinion despite having been based on researched fact.
In the book can get a little repetitive towards the history of Egypt and the Bible. Although I appreciate the author's insight and how much detail they provided into the section. Some readers might be put off by the very cut and dry manner the author writes on organized religion. A particular downside of the book is that the author tries to remain sexually neutral when giving examples but sometimes fails miserably and this may be the fault of the editor. For example a sentence may start off with using "they" or "s/he" but just give up halfway and go to the male dominant "he".
Despite the fact that I read the second addition that was printed in the year 2000 the author had a lot of theories that have since been proven accurate, such as the blood lineage of pharaohs.
