USA Today bestselling author Heidi Betts is the daughter of an Arabian sheik and a Las Vegas showgirl, as well as the heiress to the Chocolate is Better Than Sex Candy Company fortune. Because of this, she eats chocolate in all its many delicious forms for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between snacks . . . without ever gaining an ounce on her perfect five-foot-nine, size zero figure.
Each and every one of her breathtaking, award-winning novels has been adapted to film and gone on to become a phenomenal box office smash, featuring such mega-stars as Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron.
Heidi readily admits that she is only able to write such passionate love stories because of her real-life happily-ever-after romance with superstar actor Dwayne Johnson, who makes every day a fairy tale. When she’s not writing or making hot, toe-curling love with her “Rock” of a husband, Heidi can often be found riding naked on horseback (a la Lady Godiva) along the beaches of Malibu or hobnobbing with the rich and famous on Martha’s Vineyard.
If you’d like to experience your own perfect, idyllic life just like Heidi Betts, be sure to take the little purple pill. (Not the red one. Never the red one.)

Haylie Smith travels from Denver to Aspen to inform billionaire entrepreneur Trevor Jarrod that he's the father of her niece. When she tells him, he can't even remember the tryst with Haylie's sister (what a guy), who has passed away in a car accident. Trevor insists on a paternity test, and then insists that Haylie and the baby, Bradley, stay with him while they wait for the results. To help convince Haylie to stay, he suggests that she plan his half-sister's wedding.
Pleasant, low-angst romance, but also low on the Christmas element, despite the title. I never quite got on Trevor's side. He'll say something nice to Haylie, and then follow it up with something really horrible, usually along the lines of threatening to take Bradley away from her. He's seemingly proud of his man-whore past and never seems to learn from it. The book is thankfully absent of the trope where the baby is only miraculously calmed by his father's presence, but does contain that eye-rolling scene where one of the hero's many brothers pops up to offer sage advice during the black moment.
Haylie was determined and likeable, and even when she makes bad decisions, you understand why she makes them. Baby Bradley is cute. A bit too bland to be truly memorable, but it's a quick, easy read.
Hedi Betts is a new author to me and I’m so glad that I found her work. Inheriting His Secret Christmas Baby if full of enough witty comments and intense, sexual desire between the hero and heroine to keep you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I picked up this book because the summary intrigued me and I was in the mood for a Happily Ever After Christmas story during the holidays. Let me tell you, Ms. Betts did not disappoint.
Haylie Smith is smart, sassy and a woman to be reckoned with when push comes to shove. She can definitely hold her own against Trevor Jarrod who at one moment is annoyed by the woman because she isn’t intimated by his tactics and the next is totally enticed by her sensuality and the fact that she’s willing to take care of her nephew, who could possibly be his child.
The sparks fly as these two learn how to live together while they wait for the paternity test. But, will the results of the test do more harm then good when one realizes that they may have to give up the cute little baby that both have grown to dearly love?
Inheriting His Secret Christmas Baby is sexy, sensual, and will make you laugh at times until you cry. Ms. Betts does a wonderful job of incorporating the rest of the Jarrod clan into the plot of the story which only increases the depth and made me want to know more about each and everyone of them, which is the reason I bought the other books in the series. Just an FYI – the other stories are written by different authors in case you go looking for them.
If you’re looking for a sweet yet sensual, intense yet humorous story that will warm your heart and other places, put a smile or your face, and maybe even bring a tear to your eye, then Inheriting His Secret Christmas Baby is definitely the book to read.
Despite the painfully formulated plot: Party girl gets pregnant with rich playboy's baby, leaves the baby with her sensible sister then tragically dies. Sensible sister conscientiously notifies said playboy of his secret child who then accepts responsibility and falls in love with sensible sister; I really enjoyed this book. The romance between Trevor and Haylie was well-written and believable.
Again a baby from another one night stand that was totally not remembered or known about. Great that Trevor stepped up. More kudos that Hailey did the right thing. There was more that could have been told about the Jarrods. Did they all stay in Aspen etc.
Que puedo decir, es un harlequin clicheroso y que al final fue corto pero sustancioso. La historia es bonita aunque este mismo año habia leido una parecida que me gusto mucho mas porque tenia mas detalles.
Trevor is a womanizer and avoiding commitment, so he's a bit shocked when Haylie comes to his office to introduce him to his 4 month old son, Bradley, result of an one-night stand with Haylie's now deceased sister over a year before. Trevor isn't ready to be a dad, but he steps up, insists on a paternity test and then manipulates and maneuvers so that Haylie has to stay with him instead of returning home. Trevor wants these weeks before the test results return to get to know the boy who could be his son and to explore the attraction he feels for Haylie. But what neither of them take the time to consider and actively avoid considering is what will happen when the test results come in.
This was just kind of average for me. I really struggled to connect with either Haylie or Trevor in this story, but most especially Trevor. Haylie had gumption and some backbone, which I liked. She stuck to her guns for the first half of the book. But the first time they had sex, Haylie pretty much forgot all her reservations about being with Trevor. Nevermind that he's a womanizer (and in fact, when that is rudely shoved in her face, she just tells herself she doesn't care, forgets about it and it never comes up again). It no longer matters that he has threatened and has the power to take Bradley away from her nor does it seem to matter that she has given up 2-3 weeks of her life because he was controlling. She tells herself that she'll just have an affair with an incredibly sexy man. That's all well and good I suppose, but I wasn't impressed with Trevor so couldn't really see why she was.
I tried to deal with the fact that Trevor is a womanizer, but it's hard to do that when he doesn't come to grips with it. Usually an author will assign this attribute to a character so he can learn from it or reform and it didn't seem to make much of a difference in this story, other than to suggest a reason for Bradley's existence, but it still wasn't really necessary. He never really learned from it. There was one instance where he had the chance to learn a lesson from his womanizing behavior and it came to nothing, which disappointed me. Then there's his temper, which has him constantly threatening Haylie with taking Bradley away from her. Here's a woman who raised his son for 4 months, did the right thing in informing him and loves Bradley like a real mother (things Trevor acknowledge for himself) and he could throw around that kind of threat. Some appreciation. I just never really warmed up to Trevor and his realization that he was in love felt sudden and out of the blue. For that matter, Haylie didn't really realize that she was IN LOVE until Trevor admitted it prior to that she "had feelings" for him. I wasn't sold on their undying love.

4.5 Stars Terrible title but terrific book! A feel good contemporary romance with a believable modern plot; a sexy appealing rich playboy hero who is also a responsible business family man; and an attractive, intelligent, independent, responsible, and loving heroine.
In Summary: The heroine helps her Sister after she becomes pregnant and care for her illegitimate baby. When the Sister dies suddenly, the heroine decides to inform the biological Father about his paternity for the baby's sake. After many attempts to contact the hero, the heroine visits him in person at his dynasty's Colorado resort with the baby. Together they agree to get the baby tested for paternity. Hero offers that the heroine stay at his family's resort while the tests are processed, and she works in a professional capacity as party planner to help another couple in the family plan their Christmas wedding.
Meanwhile, as the hero and heroine care for the baby and spend time together, a sexual and romantic relationship blossoms.
Bottom Line: With so many current contemporary romances attempting to raise the shock factor bar using alternative lifestyles, kink, and damaged characters, it is a refreshing pleasure to read a quality mainstream romance whose main theme is love and responsibility to family.
Author's writing is crisp and appealing; and is refreshing, not only for its quality, but also for it being grammatically correct and well edited.
Highly recommend this book as one of the better HQ Desire books.
I personally will be seeking out more work form this author, and as this book is supposedly one of the least popular of this particular series, will definitely seek out the rest of this series as well...
This wasn't the type of Christmas present he'd been expecting. Trevor Jarrod—a daddy? Yet the enticing woman seated in his office claimed the Aspen businessman was the father of her baby nephew. Quick as he could say paternity test, Trevor discovered she was telling the truth. But just what did this revelation mean? The confirmed bachelor knew nothing about being a parent. And Haylie Smith wasn't about to hand off the precious infant to a complete stranger. If Trevor really wanted to claim his unexpected heir, he had an important choice—head to court…or head to the altar!
THIS WAS THE LAST OF "THE JARRODS" SERIES. We all know that they eventually find their happy ever after, but story was still touching and entertaining. Baby Bradley sounded adorable and we all wish him to find his daddy. It was nice to see the other Jarrod siblings in the story as well, tying everything together and coming full circle. Stories were light, entertaining, cute and romantic.
D2055 Dec10 the Jarrods #6 Haylie Smith goes to Aspen to confront Trevor Jarrod with the news he has a 4 month old son, the result of one night with her now deceased sister. Trevor has paternity tests done and asks Haylie to stay with him and wait for the results of the tests. This meeting brings out her doubts, she had pushed her sister to tell Trevor about her pregnancy, now Haylie is faced with the possibility that Trevor could take Bradley away from her. Her company, It's You Party, keeps her busy with Erika's wedding planning. Blake shakes Trevor up when he forces Trevor to admit he loves Haylie and had better go after her with flowers, candy, his heart, and a diamond in his hand. Nice wrap up of the Jarrods 6 book series.
This was sad to say my least favorite of the series. Trevor and Haylie's love just did not spark for me. I guess I missed the fire that was there for the others. There was just something missing. I don't doubt they loved one another but I believe the author missed some key story points that would have added to the story.
A perfect story to read on a wintery day - romance, a cute baby, Christmas, and a HEA ending. This was my first introduction to this author and to this series. I enjoyed the writing and the characters and plan to read more books in the series.
