4 stars, 2 stars and 1 star for 3 contemporary romance stories.
4 stars for A DEVIL IN WINTER by Diana Hunter.
Story Brief:
Kevin was dumped by his gorgeous girlfriend Pam. Still hurting, he is trying to get closure by trying to call and visit. She refuses him. Her sister Anna sees Kevin outside Pam's home and threatens to call the cops. He kidnaps Anna and ties her up temporarily until he can explain his innocence to Anna. Anna has always desired him, but Kevin never really saw her before because of his relationship with Pam.
Reviewer's Opinion:
Definitely good. Very enjoyable. Annie is a fun character. I was chuckling a few times. There is light bondage and flogging. The story is good, but I wish I could have seen more details and conversations of the evening where Anna first brings Kevin to dinner in front of Pam. The evening was told rather than shown. There was a lot of potential for witty and entertaining writing in this scene.

2 stars for ONE NAUGHTY WINTER NIGHT by Ruth D. Kerce.
Story Brief:
Kayla and Kyle have been good friends for 10 years. She has been in love with Kyle the entire time but didn't want to lose him as a friend so she hid her feelings. Kyle has been in love with her but never admitted it to himself, and he also hid his feelings. He was afraid of being rejected. All of a sudden, he is ready to admit his feelings and kisses her under the mistletoe.
Reviewer's Opinion:
There wasn't much story. I don't know why all of a sudden they change their actions with each other after 10 years. In general it was ok, but I prefer more plot. Once they kiss, the rest of the story is pretty much one long sex scene which was pretty good. One of my pet peeves is conflict based on vague communication and inaccurate assumptions. The 10 year conflict was based on this, which is not a winning formula for me.
Data:
Story length: 77 pages. Sexual language: strong/erotic with rear door activity. Number of sex scenes: 2. Length of sex scenes: 3 and 25 pages. Setting: current day U.S. Copyright: 2006. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

1 star for WINTER'S ROSE by Ruby Storm.
Story Brief:
Kody's family were wealthy ranchers in Texas. Rose worked on the ranch as a teenager. She and Kody fell in love. Then Kody enlisted in the Navy and left for 6 years. Rose felt like she had been used as a plaything and abandoned. She is still mad at him 6 years later when he returns to town. He wants to rekindle their relationship.
Reviewer's Opinion:
The entire story was based on inaccurate assumptions, with Rose lying and keeping a secret. I didn't enjoy that kind of conflict. The story did not feel good. On the positive side, the sex scenes were good, hot and sensual.
