I love these Bears books. I've read Bears On Chairs and I need to read all the other Bears books by this author. So adorable. So cute when Big Brown Bear picks the little ones up to put them in the bath. Of course, when the bears see how much fun Big Brown Bear is having in the tub they want to get in as well. Kids will love the fun antics of the bears and will probably want a bath too.
This is a pretty cute book, and it'd be good for a bathtime theme, or colors. My kids initiated the color conversation, I hadn't even thought about it, but the bears are a variety of colors! And there are a lot of opportunities for dialogic reading.
The bath is ready and waiting, but where are the four little bears? They're reeky, yucky, grimy, and refuse to take a bath. Big Bear's attempts to get them in the tub, only leads to resistance, but he soon realizes that now he needs a bath. What will happen next?
How to entice reluctant (but dirty!) bears to bathe? Jump in first! Cute pastel art - in fact, funny, this illustrator also worked on "Time for a Bath" with a different author.
As soon as I heard that Shirley Parenteau and David Walker had a new Bears book coming out, I preordered it. We love Bears on Chairs and also enjoy Bears in Beds and find that while a bit silly, Bears in the Bath is right up there with the others with the beautiful illustrations and fun rhymes and predictability that leads toward a re-read over and over again. We have the second two as picture books, while we own Bears in Chairs as a board book, yet they are all board book worthy.
I sincerely hope that they will continue to partner on more Bears books to come. I love them all! (Just had to also have a conversation about not literally "jumping into the bath". What is okay for bears is not always okay for little humans...)
One, two, three, four bears come walking in after a day of fun, and each is dirty from tail to the tip of their ears. Big Brown Bear wants them clean, but these young cubs have no wish to wash. Each is scooped up by their father, only to wiggle loose, leaving their dad covered in dirt too. So, there is only one answer, he jumps in the tub himself. The others soon follow. Bathtime becomes fun again in this cute rhyming scheme. Certainly this is the best use of rhyme within this series. Soft, fuzzy colours, create a cuddly feel against primarily plain white backgrounds. Plenty of bubbles, and bears await those who waited for this next installment.
I had picked up Bears on Chairs last year and loved it. We've also read Bears and a Birthday. So when I saw this at the library, I had to get it. These little bears are so much fun.
Now that I've come across some other books with amazing rhyming, this seems a little less awesome that when I originally read those other books. But I still enjoyed it. The bears are just so darn cute! My daughter really loved this one because she loves baths herself. So she enjoyed watching the bubbles and the bath toys and such.
It's a super cute book for any kid that enjoys bears. And the pastel, soft illustrations are great for bedtime because they're almost soothing.
Like many little ones, these four young bears simply don't want to take a bath. They don't care that they are spattered with mud or smelly. Baths just don't interest them--at least not until Big Brown Bear turns the experience into a family affair. Then Floppy Bear, Fuzzy Bear, Calico, and Fuzzy Bear are all clean again. Young readers will enjoy the humor, the rhyming text, and the acrylic illustrations in this sweet picture book.
Four dirty little bears don't want to take a bath. Big Bear tries to catch them, but gets dirty. Big Bear jumps in the bath. When the four little bears see the fun he has, they jump in the tub. Finally, all the bears are clean. The book features great illustrations and a humorous story. A short four line verse accompanies each page. The book features great vocabulary. It would also be appropriate for encouraging phonological awareness.
Four adorable but dirty, smelly bear cubs desperately need a bath! Papa Bear has one waiting but... bears don't want a bath! Papa gets rather dirty trying to get the babies in the bath so he hops in to get clean -- and amazingly, all the young cubs decide to follow! A fun read-aloud for the PreK crowd!
Freakin adorable. I love that there are colors and there's counting and there's a super cute story. I like that the papa bear tricks the baby bears into taking a bath by getting in himself and showing them how fun it is. I think this book would be a little too long for a baby storytime, but it would be great for toddlers.
Four adorable grimy, grungy, stinky little bears simply do not want to take a bath. Papa gets rather dirty trying to get the cubs into the tub. Papa hops in the bath to get clean and turns the experience into a family affair. (reviewer #7)
This is a great model of play for grownups! The small bears in this story don't want to take a bath, but they end up doing so because the big bear makes it look like so much fun. The rhyming and pictures make it an excellent read for an ECE audience.
The cute little bears from Bears In Chairs make a dirty, stinky appearance in this rhyming tale. Once they see big bear having fun in the bath they want in too. Just the right amount of white space to keep everything from being to sugary.
