Born of ancient and magickal bloodlines, Tate Whiteburn and her sisters have been blessed in many ways—new abilities, the return of a lost loved one, and the protection of a goddess. But these gifts have drawn the attention of an Iele Fae prince, a cruel being who craves the power of the sisters three, those known in his world as the Daughters of Nadia. As if things aren’t complicated enough, there’s Jack—the boy Tate loved, the man she deserted. With a quest begun and new enemies at every turn, she is torn between duty and desire. When they find themselves in another world, will their rekindled love put them at risk? Or be the only force that can save them?

This a *mostly cute little fairy tale of love, magic, and sisterhood, but all the good ideas are dealt with a little too lightly. *Case in point, the rape scene which seemed to be added only to make the Iele Fae seem more wicked. That point was well understood, the act was unnecessary.
If you believe that love conquers all, this may be for you. If not...

Rollicking fun ride, fast paced adventure infused with magic, Fae, love, loyalty and family devotion. Suza Kates weaves a world rich with colour and texture, characters who are full of warmth and surprises. Exactly what a great tale ought to be: page-turning excitement, surprises and twists, fast paced, never boring, always anticipating, a story that made me care. The sisters also have a strong streak of sass, an enjoyable counterpoint to balance out their personalities. Looking forward to the next installment!
Fairies, Romance ,Snow, Mazes and Brownies. Oh my! Castles, mountains, portals, danger, magic, sisters, wolves, Oracle's, legions, prophesies and drama all combine for excellent reading.
A great addition after the introduction in the Sister's Grimouire. A nice fast paced adventure of sisterhood, witches, the fae, and love. We follow the Whiteburn sister's as the go on the quest to fulfill their Granddad's debt to the Iele. I look forward to seeing what comes next for the Daughters of Nadia.
I was a little disappointed. I liked the storyline and both male and female characters but felt the book was a bit boring. I read the prequel and felt the same way. I usually love Suza’s writing so I will probably read the next book in the series but not right away.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
The only other Suza Kates book I’d read was The Penance Stone , which I loved. I was hoping this was going to be a similar sort of read, but it feels much more YA to me, and though I enjoyed it it wasn’t one I’d read again. Its a story that’s well written and is easy to read, I just somehow felt detached from it though. I kept feeling there was something missing, that I should know more of the past events, of where the sisters mum had been, of Jack, of the whole witchcraft scene they’d only recently discovered but as this was book one I was puzzled. Then I found the prequel novella.....so maybe if I’d read that I might have got more from this one. Who knows? It wasn’t hard to pick up, just that there was that slight feeling of oddness. I enjoyed the scene, the Fae, the sisters and the quest. Loved Jack and Tate, would have liked to know more of their background ( maybe that’s in the novella though?) and was hoping for something more to develop from some jealousy at the Winter Queen’s palace....but it didn’t. There’s lots of action but somehow all the solutions seemed very neat, and I never really got that sense of danger, that they were living on the edge of disaster, that some of them might not make it. each time there was another problem crop up I just knew that they, or someone else, would have the solutions...and I needed to feel that disaster loomed to make it a five star read. Its was fun, a good novel but for me not a great one.
Stars: Three, a good read but maybe if I’d read the novella first I’d have got more engaged with it.

♦ Tate, Fiona and Sami were born to fulfill a prophesy. Joining two powerful bloodlines, Romani and Welsh, the daughters of Nadia were linked to the Fae even before birth. Traveling to the land of Faerie and the Winter Court sets their destinies on course. The Winter Fae could have been great. The premise was solid but everything else was average. It was very reminiscent of one of Nora Robert’s supernatural trilogies; three women, three men, three books. You know that a couple is going to come out of each book and each book will wrap up pretty tidily with a small cliffhanger leading into the “big finish”. Where I hoped for action and tension there was “we were here, then we were there”. I like action, tension and drama melded with my supernatural romance and the were hints but no big wow factor. Now this did not make this a bad book, just average. I will probably read the second two as the remaining sisters’ matches are much more intriguing then the first. I hope the average was just due to the world building and the action and drama are yet to come.
◊ Favorite lines from Chapter 12 – “I’m sorry,” Fiona said. “For the loss of my eyes? Or for your reaction?” Fiona wrung her hands. “Um . . . both.” “Don’t waste your sympathy on me, girl.” The oracle pointed a long fingernail, as dark as her sockets. “No one took my eyes . No one, that is, but me.” “You did that to yourself?” Sami asked. “I did.” Shoulders back, the oracle stood proudly. “The loss of one sight improves another. Only the most dedicated of my kind are willing to make the sacrifice.”
Suza Kates has done it again with a wonderful book filled to the brim (I guess I should say cover to cover) with magick. I absolutely love the adventure that the Whiteburn sisters and their family were put through. And I can't wait for the second book! All together, I most definitely recommend this book to anyone that is enticed with books about family bonds, magick, and the truest of love.
With her captivating details and enthralling suspense, the fae world truly engulfs ones senses. Magick and mystery surrounds you in this story and you won't want it to end. It might even bring tears to your eyes. ;)!
Thank you, Suza, for a lovely novel! You've created another captivating tale! The Daughters of Nadia are forever in your debt as we are too!
Loved this story. It followed up nicely to the prequel, The Sisters Grimoire. Thought the description of Fairy Land was so clear and detailed that I could actually visualize it in my head! This story follows the sisters on the first of 3 quests since finding out of their powers and destiny. It definitely makes me eager for the other 2 stories!
This book starts slow and I was sure it would be tossed. Once it started moving along it was a delightful adventure, with only a few scenes of sexual display. Sweet as all get out with enough flare in the story to have me wondering whether or not I will read book 2. It stands alone very well. I would recommend it for the patient reader. Families must come back into vogue.
This was a bit slow to get into but once I did, I wasn't able to put it down. I can't wait till the second one! But I do recommend reading the prequel first.
