Chronique complète ---> http://chroniqueslivres.canalblog.com...

There are a lot of girl meets rich man and falls in love with him stories out there, and while I really liked them in the beginning, I have found that unless there is some kind of secondary plot line within the story it just isn't enough for me to really like the book. But Breathless for Him has an interesting twist part that starts building up right from the beginning, and its definitely a mystery I enjoyed reading.
So Allegra is an opera singer/student who is putting herself through school at a very upscale restaurant at the coat check. When it turns out the hot billionaire guy who is all over the tabloids is actually a silent owner, and is suddenly going to be around on a nightly basis, Allegra's life really starts to change. I liked how Davison and Allegra's started out, he's clearly smitten with her, and there is clearly an electric connection between the two of them, but neither one of them just jumps into bed, there is a slow build up that happens over many nights where Davison drives her home.

Allegra clearly has something hidden in her past that is clearly haunting her, and as you read on through the book you get more and more of an idea about what that event from her past is. It's clearly something that affects her, something that she thinks makes her undesirable, and on several occasions it causes her to pull away from the connection she has with Davison, because she doesn't want him to find out about her past. I have to say that I really did enjoy when her past started to become a part of her present, although I thought that at the end it was wrapped up a little two quickly.

Davison I like a lot. For a lot of different reasons. He's a very take charge kind of man, which I love. I liked that he stood up and said what he thought no matter who to. One of the first times you meet Davison he is with his then girlfriend and when she acts so superior and rude, he is sure to tell her what he thinks of her behavior. In another instance he has no problem standing up to his father. He's also very accepting of people for exactly who they are, and he is really just a great guy to Allegra, he's not overly dominate or too submissive, he's the perfect blend, he knows when to stand his ground and when to give space.

Overall I would say I enjoyed reading this book. I thought the pacing was great, the mystery of Allegra's past was solid, and the relationship build up was spot on. I liked the characters, and I liked the infusion of Italian culture into the book. I would easily recommend this book to anyone looking for a contemporary romance, especially if you have a love of opera or Italian culture.

The storyline to this book was intriguing and definitely good. But my biggest issue (reflected in my rating) is that events happen too quickly for me. I kept wanting more time for Davison and Allegra to get to know each other. For a relationship to grow between them. For a connection to be built. But that didn't happen and I was left thinking everything was happening way too soon.

I liked Allegra and I love romances that revolve around music. Most of the musician romances revolve around pop or rock music and occasionally country music but this was interesting because Allegra was into Opera. So that was a nice little twist.

Davison was definitely an alpha that went after what he wanted. and he wanted Allegra. And he was going to move heaven and earth to get what he wanted.

This author definitely has talent. She knows how to build a world and characters. While this moved a little quick for me, the story was enjoyable and I'd be willing to read the second book when it comes out.

I loved this debut by Sofia Tate! She made the intriguing choice to cast Allegra as an aspiring opera singer, which I hadn't come across in contemporary romance/erotica. The instant chemistry between Allegra and Davison is incredible and so well written. The chemistry, not just sexual but their relationship, leaps off the page, grabbing and keeping readers' attention. Watching the brilliant job Tate does of unfolding their growing relationship was such a pleasure. And she managed to do suspense and do it well, alongside the hot, steamy love story. Excellent debut! Cannot wait for the next one!

5/5 Stars

The Title says it all Breathless For Him and that's what I was after reading Sofia's

debut novel I was left Breathless. Sofia gives us the goods with this book just the right amount of Sexiness. I started reading and I fell in love with it after about the 5th page!

In Breathless For Him Sof gives us Davison the best damn piece of man candy known in my neck of the woods. He rocked my world and turned it upside down.Davison is RICH,HOT,SWEET,and did I mention SEXY!! When the book starts out Davison is in a horrible relationship with the evil witch Ashton I hated her just by reading her damn name.I probably sound awful because my name is Ashley sorta similar, but Ashton was just one of those people you know you are going to hate! I wanted to throw a high heel at her head! At first I was like why and the hell is he with her, come on Davison.LOL.Things to eventually get better and I breathed a heavy sigh of relief..

Than you have Allegra she is just cute as a button.Allegra is an Opera singer, and she works as a coat checker at Le Bistro a high class restaurant. At Le Bistro she meets Davison. They have this sorta instant connection and it happens over a lost glove best part of the whole book!I forgot to mention Allegra is Italian she speaks the language and is the whole Italian package. The Italian language makes the story I loved the way Sof actually Incorporated it into the book by using short Italian phrases here and there made it perfect!

Davison and Allegra's love story is a romantic roller coaster ride with just the right amount of sex. There also is the drama with the Paparazzi since Davison is a well known story on Page Six. Than there is the BIG WTF moment where I wanted to punch something and yell at them both to just be together. I was so frustrated for awhile, but when the drama doesn't stop the romance I was finally able to breath. You can can feel Davison and Allegra's LOVE  the way Sofia wrote the book it is just Magnificent!

Purchase Breathless For Him on Amazon July 1st

I cant wait to see what Sofia has in store for us and wont keep us waiting long for her next book!

Confession: I know NOTHING about opera. Seriously, outside of Downton Abbey, I have never seen it performed. So to find myself reading a book about an aspiring opera singer was a little strange. Did I get the occasional references? No. Did it matter? NO! Because it wasn’t about the music, it was about two people from different stations falling in love. And I can’t seem to get enough of those kinds of stories.

Allegra Orsini is working her way through grad school in the hopes of becoming an opera singer. When she encounters billionaire Davison Cabot Berkeley while working at the Le Bistro, she senses an immediate connection with the tabloid darling.

Davison sees Allegra as no-one else does – to him, she is more than just a coat-check girl, and he’s determined to get to know more about her. But Allegra is from a different world to the wealthy and successful Davison. Her past is dark, her memories bitter and her future not as bright as his. She wants him, the man that seemingly sees straight into her very soul, but she doesn’t think she deserves him.

Davison is determined to make the beautiful singer his, no matter the cost and regardless of her past. Will the secret she keeps come between them? Or will they find their happiness?

This was a surprisingly suspenseful story – which is not something I expected when I picked it up. But that suspense set it apart from other books that follow a similar storyline – rich man falls for beautiful but poor girl – and made into something a little bit special.

I loved the alpha tendencies that Davison showed immediately and their first meeting – when Allegra assists him at Le Bistro – was practically jumping off the page from all the sexual tension. The couple were electric together and drawn beautifully – it was easy to see why they fell so hard, so fast. While at times I felt their romance moved a little too fast – I do tend to like my couple to take their time with it – I couldn’t deny that I wanted to see them make it work.

On occasion, I felt a little bit lost and a little bit like the world that these characters operated in was too “fancy” and unreal, but that didn’t affect my overall enjoyment of the story. In fact, I kind of want to live in a world of opera and opulence. I can’t wait for more from this new author, and from these polar-opposite-but-actually-perfect-for-each-other characters. Like I said, I just can’t seem to get enough.

Breathless for Him can be read as a standalone. No cliffhanger.

As a born & bred New York City gal, I love discovering authors who set their breathtakingly sexy romances in my Big Apple backyard! Sofia Tate's debut novel, Breathless For Him, captures my wild, maddening, beautiful, diverse City with marvelous breadth and humor and terrific detail. Allegra Orsini is an opera student, making ends meet as a coat check girl at an upscale NYC restaurant. She lives with her widowed father, who owns a butcher shop and while she still mourns her mother, and is haunted by the crime that was a tabloid sensation, she's looking forward to a career as a singer, and enjoys all that the City has to offer. Then a lost glove - a twist on the lost slipper that ended with Cinderella's HEA - brings Allegra into Davison Cabot Berkeley's billionaire realm. The billionaire has an "understanding" with a fellow blue blood princess, but it is an immediate and powerful attraction when the two denizens of such different worlds meet. The story in this book continues in Devoted to Him (just FYI for those who like to know if their romance ends with the ending or continues on as the couple seek out their happily ever after), and I am already breathless with anticipation. Breathless For Him had everything I love in a romance - smart, erudite writing filled with marvelous detail. There is opera detail, languages, art, fashion, NYC, the Met, performing arts student detail (I'm a sucker for performing artist stories, having been one in my past creative life), food, dialect and sensual detail galore. The conflict is nicely rendered to keep you guessing, and Allegra's strength in the face of her past makes her a wonderfully strong, yet vulnerable heroine. The suspenseful sub-plot is neatly woven into the love story, there is terrific external conflict from a grasping ex-girlfriend, and a snooty parent who wants Davison to marry in his own class, plus Allegra's best friend who is a terrific addition to the cast, and Allegra's butcher father, who is well-fleshed out, very human, protective, and loving, and nicely compliments the feisty heroine. Though I generally go for romances that push the erotic envelope a bit more, Breathless is sophisticated, sexy, emotional and poignant, I loved it! Brava Signorina Tate!

Allegra is a music student with a passion for opera. Stemming from a family with a rich Italian history that was basis of her upbringing she gained a rich appreciation for the music from her mother. After some tragic events Allegra made some life altering decisions and one of them brought her down the path of becoming an opera singer.

Davison comes from a wealthy upbringing, he's a successful business man, and he's expected to marry a woman he doesn't really like. He finds himself restless and looking for something more until one day when he goes searching for his lost driving glove and finds himself so much more.

Allegra and Davison's paths cross while she is working the coat check at a restaurant that he frequents. He comes on pretty strong and is very sure of himself, which all piques Allegra's interest and fuels her desire for him. The 2 of them are drawn to each other and begin seeing one another as they help each other get through some things in their lives.

As I read this book I found Davison to be a little too perfect. I kept waiting for something to happen that would take away from that image somewhat but it never came. It's Allegra who has the past that she fears getting out because of what it may bring. There was some mystery around her background but it felt like she seemed to make it a bigger deal than it was. It's a good read that kept my interest and had its steamy moments but I just kept feeling like there was more that I needed from it.

This is Sofia Tate's debut and it's the first book in a series, the 2nd is slated to come out in December and is called Devoted to Him. I'll be on the lookout for it to see how things build from here.

I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

Breathless for Him is book #1 in the Davison & Allegra Series and the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes....
I liked this book it had a Sylvia day vibe to it, like an air of mystery surrounding Allegra and her childhood.

All of the opera references somehow manage to make it feel sophisticated instead of pretentious, and it was nice to have something a bit different from the usual down on their luck female characters I see so much of.

I liked Davidson but he's definitely holding something back. He was sexy as hell when he slipped into alpha mode but for some reason I always felt he was holding himself in check.

Davidson and Allegra have a load of sexual chemistry and to be fair their sexy times were pretty hot!!

I don't want to spoil anything so this is vague but Allegra’s dramatic background and subsequent reappearance was a bit random.

We all knew something was gonna happens I'm just not sure why it happened, I feel like a bigger explanation of how it took 18 years to come to a head would have been appreciated.

I honestly have no idea how the next book is going to proceed, I think there is definitely scope for the story to continue and I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Davidson's mom was badass and I’d love to see her carry out her threats against Ashton who was a massive BITCH!!

My only critisim of this book would be that it meandered a bit in places and was a bit slow but overall I enjoyed it and will be moving onto book two as soon as it releases 4 stars.

Aspiring opera singer Allegra Oraini's whole world is singing. Until she meets billionaire Davison Berkeley one night at her job as coat check for Le Bistro. The attraction is instant and despite being from different worlds neither can ignore it. With a past that's catching up to her, will Allegra's past tear them apart forever?

It had a nice plot line. More than just the typical romance novel plot lines. I really liked Allegra and Davison's characters. This novel is kind of between Fifty Shades and the Crossfire series. The writing is on par with Fifty Shades, in that it could be better but it's not exactly horrible either. The characters are more in line with the Crossfire series in that they are well developed, and thoughtful. As much as I enjoyed this book the plot line was a little weird for me. It hit the dramatic high point and then crashed down.
The last few chapters of the book really were not needed and just seemed a bit boring. I think that the second book should have picked up with them taking the trip to Italy and then gone from there. I am looking forward to the second book in the series, which is due for release on Dec. 2nd, 2014 titled Devoted to Him. I have an idea of where the plot line for the story will go so it should be interesting.

After reading two duds in a row this book was a nice reprieve. The story was good, and for those who have enjoyed EL James and Sylvia Day's novels should definitely read this novel as well.

(((ARC Review)))

Thanks to Sophia Tate for giving me this ARC to review!

The story fell together too fast for my liking. I would’ve liked to have seen Davison and Allegra’s “love story” build more and show more connection between the characters, instead of just jumping in like they’ve been together quite some time and know everything about each other and love each other unconditionally right off the bat. Don’t get me wrong, kindred spirits and soul mates are possible and you can feel like you “know” someone right away, but I felt like this just wasn’t set up for that…if that makes sense?

With that being said, I did enjoy this book! This was my first Sophia Tate read and I think she is a good writer. And I liked reading about Allegra and Davison! There was the instant attraction between Allegra and Davison, some plot mystery in the background with Allegra’s past that keeps you intrigued, some relationship obstacles for Davison and Allegra, and the ever present relationship issue that a lot of books do: “We’re from completely different worlds, so there’s no way we can make it.”

Even though this story went a little too fast for me in the beginning, it was still pleasant to read. I would give this book 3 Stars***

Personal note: Don’t be fooled into thinking this is like E.L.James FSOG and Sylvia Days Crossfire series. I personally don’t care for when books are compared to popular books like those and then they don’t live up to their expectations…it’s a way to suck in readers.

This book is book 2 in the series and I highly recommend reading Breathless for Him before reading this book. Somehow I missed the fact that this was part of a series, but I figured it out right away. This story seems to pick up right where the first left off. I feel that had I read the first one, I would have felt connected to the characters much faster and, as a result, would have enjoyed it more.

One thing I quickly picked up on were insecurities on both sides. Although Allegra's is more obvious by her words, Davidson shows his insecurities with his actions. They really connect in the bedroom (or anywhere the desire hits them) though. They do a lot of "connecting" through out the story. At times it got to be too much. I feel it overtook the story, but then again, it is erotica so I should expect a lot of "connecting". Made for some hot reading :).

There was enough action to keep my attention until I felt the connection to the characters I needed. Davidson devotion to Allegra was evident. He feels this need to protect her. Unfortunately, the way he was going about it became an issue for Allegra. I kept hoping that their love for each other would be strong enough to overcome this issue.

Overall, it was a good read. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys hot, steamy reads. However, I would recommend starting with Breathless for Him first.

Allegra is a coat check girl at a popular restaurant when she meets the sexy billionaire Davison. What happens when these two get together?

Davison is already in a relationship with Ashton when he met Allegra, but when he sees her it is love at first sight for him. When he finally sees what type of person Ashton is, he dumps her. He begins to pursue Allegra. He begins taking her home after work, but he can sense she is hiding something from him, he becomes determined to find out what.

Allegra is dead set against a relationship with Davison. She is afraid that her past will cause him to feel different about her. When she can no longer deny her feelings she gives in. They start a passionate love affair. When things from her past come to light she pushes him away and he fights for her.

The mystery of Allegra's past will keep you interested and the passion between the two will make you not want to put the book down. The sex scenes are explosive and hot. This is a sexy romantic love story. I loved the fact that the female character has the dark past and it's the male lead that helps her get through it. There is more to the story and I'm looking forward to the next book to see where it goes.

I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Then he moves in closer to me. His lush mouth opens to say something, his thumb still moving again and again over my hand.
"Do you think I could make you come just by doing this?"
"What?" I manage barely above a whisper.
"Answer the question," he commands huskily.

From that line on I was his. Seriously. And those lines are on chapter one.

This book is about Allegra a opera singer/student who works at the coat-check room of a fancy restaurant called Le Bistro and Davison, a gazillionaire that I don't really care where he makes his money on.

Davison's an alpha, son of a very cold as ice man and very nice woman. Allegra is the daughter of a butcher, her mother died when she was five and doesn't talk about that.

They have their ups and downs but the chemistry between them is amazing, and I'm not talking just about the sex. They don't jump into bed in the first chapter, Davison courts her for a few days and it's kind of cute.

You can read the rest in my blog ;)

What happens when a hot billionaire and the coat check girl meet at a restaurant when he looks for his missing glove, Breathless for Him is what you get. Davison is a playboy who is dating a socialite, Ashton, when he goes up the coat check girl and asks if she has seen his missing glove and it is love at first sight for him. He gets out of the relationship with Ashton and starts to take Allegra home after work and they start to have a relationship. Allegra is hiding something from him and when he finds out the danger could take her out of his life for good. This is a very erotic book with awesome sex scenes. Be warned there is more to the story and I for one can't wait to get more of this story.

This book isn't really like books written by Slyvia Day or E.L. James the only thing those books had in common with this one is the fact the guy is really rich. I was a tad bit disappointed I thought there would be aspects that '50 Shades of Grey' had but I was just disappointed. I mean the book was an okay read, but it didn't sit well for to love it. Davison is a well-endowed boy, "his c***, long and lengthened, is pointing upward, engorged and eager. I can already see a dot of pre-cum at it's tip. I swallow in my throat, nodding to his shaft. "Harvard, that thing is going to tear me apart." I was just really looking forward to a little BDSM but there wasn't any in the book.

This book was fantastic! I was drawn into this book from the very beginning and fell in love very quickly with Davison and Allegra. They both are superbly written characters that have such a depth to them. I loved that the author sent us on not just a love story of two people, but also had some major steam and a little bit of suspense as well. Great job with this one! I am looking forward to the conclusion of Davison and Allegra's story. A great 5 AMAZEBALLS stars for me!!

A snappy, hot contemporary romance. This one is Manhattan-billionaire meets coat-check-girl-aspiring-opera-singer. Refreshingly, he's not just a pushy, entitled asshole, and she's perky and strong. There's a touch of suspense to keep things interesting, too. I really enjoyed this one: devoured it in one sitting!

Breathless for Him, which is the first in a series, is a great book with sex, love, deceive, drama, etc. I could not put it down, I literally read in two hours. I admit, it did take me a little bit to like Davison, as he is straight forward. Not kidding lol. But, after a while, I started loving him because of how he is with Allegra. He is not only possessive, but he is very protective of her. Her dad is adorable as well lol. I rate the book 4/5. I recommend the book to anyone who loves a good romance with erotica.

While I enjoyed this book enough to read it in one day, I will not be re-reading it or continuing on in the series. It was well-written and well-conceived, but not my cup of tea.

The only thing I can think to describe this story is it's beautiful. Sofia Tate takes you on a wonderful, emotional journey through the relationship of Davison and Allegra, and it's beautiful.

While reading this, there were moments of anticipation where my breath hitches, as I feel something is about to happen, a bump, a hitch, a jolt in their courtship, and I think I'm being thrown into an emotional roller coaster ride. I am but I'm not. Sofia manages to build a sense of anticipation and foreboding as she slowly unfolds the story of Davison and Allergra getting together, getting to know each other, and the past that Allegra so desperately and fearfully keeps hidden. She makes you want to keep on reading and to put the book into the freezer for safekeeping as Joey from Friends does when he encounters something he is afraid to find out in a book if he keeps reading. I did both. There were moments when I had to stop to draw breath before continuing.

Allegra is a wonderful character. She's strong, she's stubborn and she's independent, but she's also afraid and has closed herself off from the world and from feeling. It's not until Davison comes into her life that she starts to see that there is more to life than hiding from it. She tries to push Davison away, citing social and class reasons, but her efforts fail in the face of Davison's persistence and attention.

I love Davison. I think that there should be more men in the world like him. Men who insist on opening the car door for you, who will walk you too your front door and see you safely home, and who will always walk on the outside to protect you from harm. Davison is at once primal and alpha, but also kind and tender. There is a sweetness to him and the way he treats Allegra is warms my heart, and the way he calls her "baby" makes me melt into a gooey, messy puddle.

I'm not one to mention secondary characters but Sofia has created a wonderful group of secondary characters who also find a way into your heart from Allegra's loving father to her quirky best friend, and even Davison's mother who does something at one point in the story that rocks. She made me fist pump the air and yell "Yeah!" with what she did. Total awesomeness.

Thank you for writing a wonderful story, Sofia. I'm looking forward to reading book 2.

***This book was provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.***

This book was a DNF at 30% for me, so I will not be rating it.

There were a lot of things about this book that didn't work for me, but the major issue I had was that I couldn't buy the insta-lust/love. I felt absolutely no established connection between the main characters.

Also, this tried too hard to be identical to all the other billionaire books on the market:

The hero and heroine just can't be together, because she has a huge secret from her past, and she can't be thrust into the public eye, or it will all come out. Here's an idea--how about telling the truth before it turns into a can of worms?

When the hero and heroine have an argument, his driver stalks her on the streets every night to make sure she gets home OK.

The heroine can come on command. (Lucky girl.)

And this is just the beginning. Everything that plagues other billionaire books on the market plagues this one.

I am going to admit, though, that this book was dubbed as being for 'readers of Sylvia Day.' That is a hefty claim, and when I see it, the bar is immediately set high, as I loved the first two Crossfire books. Unfortunately, this one didn't measure up.

I liked this book overall. It is sort of the same story that you see a lot now with billionaire falls in love with regular girl and there are lots of secrets and past issues that make the relationship hard. But it was well written and I liked Allegra and I want to read more. And I liked that the setting was a bit different with her being an opera singer it added another detail that made the story more interesting to me.
