More than one thousand black-and-white photographs, line drawings, and data tables accompany an authoritative survey of World War II aircraft that reviews the airpower of sixty-eight nations and provides detailed descriptions of each aircraft.

He spent most of his adult life doing research and writing on aircraft and aviation. He was the author of over 350 books and articles. His work included many books published by Salamander Books.
not as good as the fighting ships series. this catalogues military aircraft from WWII, but not in as much detail. although it covers the biggies (spitfire, mustang, FW190) , it isn't as complete on other basic planes like the p-61, yak-1, He 111. Maybe i'm too picky, but Jane's has always set the bar pretty high.
Interesting resource, giving a snapshot of the information available to (American) civilians at 46/47. Lack of information available on German, Japanese and especially Soviet planes is telling.
