The times when mercury, and venus and mars, appear to be travelling backwards in the heavens are thought by tradition astrologers to cause problems for people in the physical world. Communications are delayed or lost in the post, things go wrong with relationships and it is an inauspicious time to start new projects.

This book offers a different slant on the problem. Maybe it is possible to make use of these retrograde periods to take more care with things you are doing, to try not to fly off the handle with your nearest and dearest and to take stock of your plans to make sure they contain as few opportunities for things to go wrong as possible.

I found this an easy to read and thought provoking look at a phenomenon I have always taken for granted as being negative in its effects. The book may make you think again and explore ways of using retrograde transits to firm up your plans and deal with the details; to examine your relationships to see where they can be improved and to make sure as far as is possible that you take a belt and braces approach to important communications during the retrograde periods of mercury.

This book will be of interest to all astrologers and may cause some at least to reconsider their thinking around the retrograde periods of these three planets. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley for review.

Easy to understand.

With all the talk about the Mercury Retrodrade for the past weeks, I was wondering what all the fuse was about.
Since people were blaming the planet, going backward, for everything going wrong in their life, I was getting curious.

Bernie Ashman was able to provide easy answers and explanations about how Mercure will affect the zodiac signs. The author also gives tip for finding positive aspects to the planets like Venus and Mars as well as Mercure when they are retrograde.

Good News...Today is the last day of the 3 weeks periode where Mercure was playing with our nerves. Meaning tomorrow Mercure will go direct again and we will have less trouble in our communication and plans.

A good read if you are into astrology as well as if you want to know more about your mood changes during the year.

I don't like the organization of the book. I feel like the way it is written it isn't helpful for me, who bought the book as a personal insight (which I feel like most people trying to learn about astrology are into anyways). I found myself skimming through the pages of the not applicable signs or stages in life. It would be good for reference during such a retrograde but it isn't set up like a self-help book where i.e. *scorpio making a large purchase during a mercury retrograde could easily access by looking through a table of contents and turning to page 9.

I read the chapters about mercury retrograde since it's relevant. It's written like a 5th grader, beginning a lot of sentences with "So you see.." and "But on the other hand..". I'll pick this back up when venus and mars are relevant, I guess.

Book felt very repetitive at times and like it was drawn out. Got through the first two chapters and then began to just skim through the rest;picking out the information I wanted as I went. I read it kinda like a text book. Easy read with good information. Guess I just was expecting more.

This book gives a very clear and accurate description of how retrogrades can affect you, as well as how to deal with them. Because it is so repetitive, each section can be skimmed through quickly.

Lots of tips and advice on surviving retrograde planets.

I'm still a beginner in the study of astrology but know enough to realise how a retrograde planet might affect my daily life and it's for this reason that I was so excited to find this very useful book to help me understand how living can become more challenging when planets go retrograde, or when they return to direct.

The book is full of tips and advice on what can happen. How to avoid pitfalls and how to readjust when they resume their direct movement.

Whether we like it or not, astrology has been around for thousands of years. It is not some "airy fairy" way of life but a genuine phenomenon that affects each and every one of us, based on the complex and ever moving planets.

I think this book will help to answer many questions that astrologers raise. Thank you Bernie Ashman for taking the time to set out the whys and wherefores of this very complex subject.

A very useful book which deals with 3 planets - Mercury, Venus,
and Mars - and how to survive their retrograde periods.
This is a book aimed at non-astrologers and the author does a
very nice job of explaining the actions of the planets, both when
direct and retrograde, in layperson's language. He explains how
your sun sign element is affected by each retrograde planet and
then gives survival tips for getting through the retrograde of
each.

I liked that the tips were very positive and not filled with
doom and gloom. They were also very practical with suggestions
of how to protect yourself when forced to take action that would
normally be contraindicated by the retrograde.

The last part of the book was a Q & A that really did focus on
questions that people are likely to have about the subject.

I reviewed this book for NetGalley.

I really like Mr. Ashman's approach to astrology. Back in the day, I read a lot of astrological works, many of them either too geared toward pop psychology, or too serious and fatalistic. This is especially true of books dealing with retrograde planets. Mr. Ashman has a supportive, positive approach - let's make lemons out of lemonade- supported with a vast and extensive repertoire of astrological knowledge and experience.

This is a great book for the amateur astrologer or a beginner on the career path of astrology. I really like authors who explain things in a friendly, approachable way. Mr. Ashman is your friend and guide.

A really good read!
